Firstly the campsite is in a wonderful location, right on the River Wye and some beautiful views.
However it is so dated and looks like it is stuck in the 60's. The family field for tents is on the main road into the campsite so has a lot of passing cars and backs onto the group field which had a a lot of large groups of people so plenty of noise.
The toilet facilities con sited of 2 toilets and 2 showers for the ladies and the same for the men. You had to enter a £1 coin for hot water for 8-10 minutes but didn't seem to be any hot water.
There was washing up facilities which consisted of 2 sinks again with no hot water so very hard to clean greasy frying pans.
The fairground/arcade was very tacky and again very dated but luckily no one visited it so meant it was quiet.
We pre-booked the campsite and was told because it was a bank holiday weekend we had to stay for a minimum of 3 nights so bit more expensive and longer than we wanted however we were miffed to find people turning up for 1 night only?!
There are some really nice pubs around the campsite including a dog friendly pub so we enjoyed our stay and the area but would pick a different campsite next time.

My family (2 adults,4 children and 2 dogs)stayed at this site for 10days and here goes.
We only enquired about a booking the day before our arrival and were told that it wasn't a problem and was made to feel really welcome. When we got there, reception was easy to find(on left just past a toilet block-painted with a lovely scene). There were 2 ladies,1 who gave us a code for toilets, and another who showed us around and was told in no uncertain terms, that if we had any problems,to tell them and they would help or deal with it!.
The toilets were clean and tidy and there was a kitchen with a washer,fridge-freezer and large sinks (all clean).
Theres a canoeist office right by reception with very reasonable rates, and I personally highly recommend taking a cruise on the river boat!Which runs every hour-07815 001698.It was surprisingly cheap,u can take your own food and drink and the staff were hilarious!
There was 2 cafes,a gift shop, also a pub that served delicious food and the staff were very chatty and friendly too.Theres also an amusement arcade which has tokens, toys and keyrings in the 2p,10p machines,so even though the kids(and adults!)lost our pennies,we came out with loads of goodies to show for it.
All-in-all,we couldn't have had a more pleasant stay and cant wait to go back again in march(yes,my husband wanted to book there and then!).

Dirty toilets and unhelpful staff. The campsite seems to be a regular haunt for young campers and stag parties etc.
Camping field was lumpy and general facilities seemed dated and poorly cared for.

We booked this site as it was a good stop off point on a canoe trip from Ross to Monmouth. As the site is right on the river you can take your canoe out and stow it next to your tent.
Despite having booked well in advance we were told to pitch in an over flow field that obviously had not seen a mower for some time as the grass was at least 6 inches long.
The site was very busy and the toilet and shower facilities (2 loos and 2 showers) could not cope. The shower in the ladies was cold (despite having to pay extra) and the light was not working.
Both nights noisy groups kept us awake.
This site is not cheap and the facilities do not live up to the cost. It is a shame as the site has such a great position.

On the positive side the camp site is set in a lovely location. However.
On our arrival by canoe the canoe company based there (different to our own) made us feel extremely unwelcome. The landing stage is small and exit from the river is narrow and steep. The company were very busy with their canoes and made us feel in the way.
On arriving at reception we were asked to pay the camping fee up front along with a noise bond of forty pounds which had not been mentioned on booking. There was also a large sign stating no refunds.
Having told the site that we would be bringing canoes we seemed to be given the furthest pitch away from the river and were left to carry them a good distance. The pitch itself was littered with dog mess.
There was one toilet and shower block, 2 toilets and 2 showers for ladies. The showers cost one pound a time which was refunded when only cold showers available which seemed to be 99 % of the time. The blocks were only cleaned twice a day and with the volume of campers this was not adequate.
Parking was charged at two pounds a day.
Whilst it is nice to have businesses run by young people lack of experience showed.

This is a lovely area and with a garden centre etc next door, plus the funfair and excellent clubhouse, along with the river activities so there is plenty to do here. There is also a wonderful old pub/hotel next to the site well worth visiting.
However, as this was the tenth site we visited on our last tour, we found the standards of this site well below par for the £19 we paid for two adults, 2 dogs and electricity.
I was informed when I went into the showers 'not to bother' as the previous lady had just paid an extra £1 for a virtually cold shower. It was unbelievably small and being a little disabled I realised that I could not manage it. It was also rather smelly, though in fairness I did arrive before the cleaning times as it was shut for an hour between 9 and 10 a.M.
The area we pitched on looked rather like an old race track and was very bumpy, though preferable to being squashed up in the main part of the site.
I suggest the owners of this site go and look at some other wash facilities in sites of similar prices, or lower their tariff!

We booked and paid for two nights for a family of 4 and had a few days canoeing planned.
When we arrived we took a while finding the reception due to lack of signage throughout.
We were given a door code for the toilets and a set of rules for the site and shown to our pitch. The code for toilet use is a rubbish idea in my opinion. The little ones had to be chaperoned each time even though the block was in view of the tent.
Our pitch was in a dip so we prayed for good weather or we would have been flooded without doubt. The showers were poor value at £1 and there was no room to hang clothing whilst you showered. They were far too hot with no temp control which is dangerous for children. One of the two male showers didn't even have a lock on the door.
The arcades and amusements on site were pretty good for the children, although the fair was closed by 6pm. It could do with staying open until around 7-8pm imo.
The bar served pretty good food and were child friendly enough although the staff weren't particularly talkative or welcoming in any way.
During our first night the bar obviously kicked out around 1am as a number of drunken teenage girls began shouting drunken obscenities across the camp site. This continued for some minutes and awoke the children at which point I advised them to go to bed! They continued until around 4am, with no evidence of owners/security of any kind.
Although we had paid for two nights up front, we packed up and left after the one night.

It has it's own 'theme' park which consists of some tired rides in gawdy colours run by surly blokes and a social club which has seen better days.
On arrival we waited for 20 minutes for someone to come to reception to let us know where to pitch - they were friendly enough. We were in the middle field between two roads. One to the campsite and one to the 'theme' park (which plays fairground music until six). The cars go fast enough to give you a restless sleep but not as much as the three big groups of people who were clearly on stag and hen weekends and played the best of the Ministry of Sound until the early hours.
The toilet block was dirty and to be fair the weather was appalling so they were not helped by that - but the shower cost a whopping £1 and there is absolutely nowhere to put your clothes once you have shut the door so everything has to be left outside. The block to do the washing up had no hot water and on the two occasions I had to wash up one of the two sinks was always full of dirty dish.
At eight o clock at night we had to get involved in a physical fight between the couple next to us and when we went to find someone from the campsite to help us they were not available. Another couple next to us had pitched up for a couple of hours and were then asked to leave by the manager of the campsite, her dog and three 'minders'.
This is a beautiful part of the world and we enjoyed a fantastic canoe trip from Ross to the campsite which has it's own mooring. This campsite could be so much better. Perhaps if you have children or you are on a stag do then it would have more appeal. But for us and almost all the people we spoke to in our field we were pretty keen to leave and won't be paying a return visit.

Myself and a few friends arrived at the site around 1.30pm on Saturday afternoon. We were allocated our pitch on arrival and were told about all the facilities that were available for us to use. All the staff was really friendly and very welcoming. The pitch was brilliant and there was plenty of room around so we didn’t feel as though we were on top of other people. The toilets and showers were very clean and there was hot water available which was great. The facilities on site were great, fun fair which is open until 6 pm, boat ride, canoe hire, bike hire and plenty more which is great if you have children. The on - site club house was great as food is served all day and all the staff are really friendly and happy to help. The site is situated in lovely surroundings with great facilities and is situated in a safe environment which is great if you have kids. I will definitely be going back as it was well worth the money and would definitely recommend the site to all ages.

What fantastic weather for camping hot,hot hot. Reception difficult to find poorly sign posted. Follow signs for leisure park and drive down gravel track, no site security.
The campsite is based on a leisure park with a fun fair, amusement arcade, pub and cafe / restaurant on-site. This is also open to the general public, the tent field can only be described as a grassed car park, there are no set pitches for campers. When we were there (a small family )there appeared to be a lot of same sex groups playing loud music and lots of alcohol flowing. There is only one toilet and shower block unfortunately whilst we were there the men's showers(2). One was broken the other was temperamental these take a pound coin for ten minutes water.
The fair runs from 12-6pm this also plays loud chart music whilst open. We were camped on a patch of grass(front garden)of a house on-site, this was in between the main tent fields and the portacabin booking office, there was a lot of traffic and people using the toilet block going past the tent all hours which was noisy on the gravel(potholed) roadway.
Also using the same porta cabin & road were a canoe hire centre which was very busy.
On the plus side the river boat trip which lasts about 40 minutes was very good, also we used a pub just a few minutes walk away up the hill for food and a drink called the Wye not that to was excellent.
Although I found the site intimidating to start with we had no trouble or heard any.
I would definitely visit the area again as it was beautiful
