Excellent site with a designated play area for children. Wardens very friendly and helpful. Toilet facilities etc are to the standard expected from a caravan club site.
Excellent Farm Shop a few minutes drive from the site. A carvery is within walking distance of the site and a large retail park and park and ride into York are within a few minutes drive from the site.
We have been to this site 4 times in the last 2 years. We shall be going back to this site again this year.

A fantastic site. Location is an easy 3 mile drive to York and well placed to access good roads to Harrogate and Knaresborough or to head to the Yorkshire coast. Excellent nearby shopping facilities at Monks Cross as well as a park and ride service into York.
Site is picturesque with established trees and well-kept grassed areas. Driving through the stud farm with the horses on either side of the road is lovely. Dog walk is excellent - huge! Children's play area and games field are also good quality and confined to one area of the site to suit those without kids. Pitches are large and mostly hardstanding. Wardens are efficient and pleasant. Toilet facilities are good and well-maintained.
Thoroughly enjoyed the stay - booked for another 12 night stay in August before we left!

Our party was made up of Mum, Dad, our two boys aged 9 & 7 and our dog.
Beechwood Grange was a welcome relief and was most impressive even for Caravan Club standards.
Directions to the site were a breeze being right near to the A64 but set far back from the main road so as not to hear any road noise.
Check in was straight forward and easy and pitching was easy. As far as I could see, there was no pitches here that I would not have liked as the whole site and each pitch has advantages.
The toilet block is well heated and as usual, lovely and hot water always available. Chemical disposal was also easy as it seems most service points had this facility.
We came here with our dog and were fully aware of the restrictions placed on walking of dogs outside the gates to the site before arrival, but we were very pleased when we saw the good size dog walk. We have a Dalmation X Collie and so by her nature needs to be worked 2 or 3 times daily but even our doggie was tired by having such a good run nearby.
There is also a very good playing field on the site and can easily accommodate many families playing different games.
On some days of the week a mobile chippy comes onto the site and on the days of our stay each portion of chips was very tasty and good price considering.
While here we visited National Railway Museum in York, Creepy Crawlies and Yorkshire Air Museum both located not far from the CC site and would recommend all of these without hesitation but we also visited Yorkshire Farming Museum and this, with kids aged as ours are, I would give a miss.

Our first trip with a caravan so we decided to keep it local (40 miles or so) in case of major unforeseen / oversights.
To paraphrase others, the approach road to the site is easy to miss but the new road layout makes that a mistake equally easy to rectify, go back on yourself at the next roundabout and take another shot.
The wardens on arrival were very friendly and as helpful as you'd expect from Caravan Club staff. As it was our first visit to a club site, everything from EHU instructions to basic site rules were explained clearly. We were given a map of the site and some leaflets (things to do in the area and site information) and told to pick a free pitch. Once we let the staff know where we had pitched, we were given a key to operate the entrance barrier (no deposit for the key).
Most pitches are hardstanding although I believe some grass pitches are available. We chose the pitch nearest the play park, or rather, our 3 young kids did. The noise from the play area between 6pm and 9pm may not be everyone's cup of tea but all goes quiet at 9pm, I wasn't aware that this was a rule on site but it has been mentioned in a previous review. This pitch also happens to be one of the nearest to the dog walking area so worked well for us. The dog walk area was clean and spacious with 5 or 6 bins.
The toilet block is faultless, very clean and piping hot water always available. I would say it is perfectly suited to a site of this size, rarely empty but never full.
We had the experience of the 'fish-and-chip-mobile' on our first night and it did exactly what it said on the tin. Good quality food cooked to order, I've had much worse food from regular chippies with good reputations.
Recycling facilities are a bit hit and miss but after speaking with a warden, it appears that the council take care of waste separation so the site is not at fault.
All in all, a great experience and one which we'll repeat. This is a 5 star site and it's easy to see why.

Beechwood is located one and half miles from monks cross, which has two supermarkets loads of other shops swimming pool, and karting. Further up the ring road is another retail park with cinema, and bowling and more shops. The park and ride is at monks cross taking you right into York.
The site is level most hard standing a huge. The toilet block is the usual high standards and my husband says the mens showers blew him away.
A chip van comes round three times a week but if that's no good there's loads of places to eat around.
The roads are busy but there is a traffic light on the round about now which helps getting out. The turning for the site is on the round about itself if you miss it go to next round about and come back.
The children's park is good and there is a field for games too.
All in all will be going back.

Visited Beechwood Grange for 2 nights as it was our first time Towing our caravan.
Wardens nice, friendly and helpful. Site spacious, clean with excellent toilet facilities.
Good for park and ride into York, had a lovely day in York so much choice of things to do in this lovely city.
Location good for us as it is only 60 miles along A19 from home, only down side for me is you have to go out in the car. No walking on doorstep.
Highly recommend the mobile chippy.

The Beechwood Grange site is a fairly large flat site with trees and hedges bordering pitches and the site itself. It shares a drive with a stud farm which results in dog walking restrictions. The approach to the site is poorly signposted and SatNav gets it slightly wrong.
Once there though the wardens are friendly and efficient. We were informed which pitches were available and those which were closed because of the weather. We picked a large pitch just behind the facility block, which as usual was clean and warm. It was never busy but this might be different in the summer and a full site. A Fish and Chip van visits the site three times a week and cooks to order.
The site is not far from Monk’s Cross shopping centre and Park and Ride, here there is a good range of High Street and shopping outlet shops, there are also two supermarkets and ASDA and a Sainsbury’s. There is also a swimming pool to entertain the children. The Park and Ride obviously feed’s York and its many attractions.
We were there over the new year, and the wardens had erected an extension to the garage area. From 10:30 pm they provided some liquid refreshment some nibbles and ran a raffle which raised £75 for a cancer charity. All the wardens were there along with about thirty people. It was a really good evening provided by the wardens. I really enjoyed this site and would use it again in order to further explore the area.

The entrance is tucked away on a very busy roundabout with no signs prior to it so care must be taken not to miss it. Once found its a short drive down a private road past a stud farm.
Usual Caravan Club quality, Staff friendly, pitches large, good children's playground and also a dog walk and in an ideal position for visiting York.
Only negative point was the one way system in operation on the site which in the dark was fun to say the least.
Would definitely use again when visiting the city.

We have visited this site many times, and will be visiting again.
The approach to the site is not well signposted. The traffic used to be hellish, although this is much better due to the improvements (traffic lights and filter lanes).
We visited the week before christmas, and the site was knee deep in snow! It's a good job the toilets were there as many peoples water froze overnight! The toilets and pot wash area are always immaculate, as is the rest of the site. There is a large play area and ball games field set at the back of the site. Next to this is a large fenced in dog walk area. This is brilliant for exercising the dogs, as they are not allowed up the driveway due to the stud farm.
There is a toby carvery just off the roundabout which is walking distance, and the Monks Cross shopping centre, park and ride, and supermarkets are only a five minute drive.

We've just returned from a week at Beechwood Grange on the outskirts of York as we couldn't get in to Rowntree Park.
Ignoring the awful traffic queues around the site, this is a lovely place. The play area is great and the 9pm closure strictly adhered to by most during the week, there were a great bunch of people there, really considerate and friendly. Our pitch was very roomy and backed onto a grassy area, giving us more privacy than normal.
The only fault was the female warden who obviously wished that it was a child-free zone. She was incredibly abrupt and at times, downright rude to any parent not walking 5 paces behind their child. A number of parents had complained about her manner, which was a real shame. The male wardens were lovely - joking with the children and really enjoying themselves.
Overall, was the site better than Rowntree Park? The on-site play area is a bonus as is the spaciousness of the site and its proximity to the Park and Ride. Rowntree is great for leaving the car and walking into the city but the play area is next door. The wardens at Rowntree are lovely.
