Have just stayed at the site for 3 nights. Very pleased. The site was peaceful. Lovely sat by the Thames watching the different craft going by. The ducks and geese wandering around were lovely. Very good village shop just over the bridge up the road.
Showers and toilets could do with upgrading, but what the hell we spend all day in there. Very enjoyable stay thank you. A good site to see the red kites, they looked wonderful flying over head.

Spent 1 night at this site. Lovely site although the toilets and showers could do with updating.
The cost was only £16 for a night with electric. Ideal site on the river with a pub right on the doorstep. Would recommend this site.
With chickens wandering around great walks along the river and a very easy going site, will definitely be going back.
The owner just lets you set up wherever you want and leaves you alone.

Only there for one night, but found this a delightful site. As a retired teacher was very grateful that this was an adult only site.
I also truly appreciate not being 'fussed over' and 'bothered' by owners on sites and as my husband registered us, did not meet the owner. I sent him off for some eggs that I knew would be fresh as we had been chatting to the chickens who laid them! These were delicious and she charged us less as some of them were tiny. I can truly recommend tiny eggs, they seemed to taste even better!
The pub next door had a lovely garden and very hard working staff. The menu was brilliant, but the food not very good apart from my belly pork which was very tender. I find it so sad that most pubs nowadays are really only restaurants!
I will definitely return here!

This is one of the best located sites I have been to. Superbly situated beside the River Thames with great views across the river to trees in which Red Kites roost in the evenings. Geese and ducks are resident with the lady who runs the site and wander around through each day.
A thatched pub (The Barley Mow run by the Chef and Brewer chain) is right beside the entrance to the site which is very attractive but we were a little disappointed with the food we had (but don't be put off - we didn't spend much! Other options looked reasonable. )
Bridge House Caravan site has a number of static caravans at one side of the site, but the touring area is separate and it is possible to pitch right next to the river. It is over 18s only, possibly for safety reasons.
At one end of the site is Bridge House where the reception is, right on a traffic light controlled single carriageway bridge which can be quite busy in rush hour times, but it does not intrude into the beauty and tranquillity of the site. In fact the bridge is quite pretty. Only a few minutes walk is the village of Clifton Hampden, with a cluster of thatched houses, a primary school, Post Office and small general store and the village church.
We paid £16 per night including electric hook up. The facilities are fairly basic and need a good refurbishment, with toilets, 4 showers (20p) and a small laundry with washing machine, plus a chemical disposal point. We mainly used our own facilities so were not bothered too much.
This is a gem of a site and well worth a visit.

We wanted to camp near water on that beautiful, hot last weekend of May and a search of waterside sites within a reasonable distance from home brought us to Bridge House.
The site is little more than a tidy, mown extension of the owner's garden stretching along the Thames. That short description belies just how exquisite it is.
The facilities are indeed basic and elderly as noted by other reviewers, but were clean. Toilets and showers for both M & F were housed in one block along with a laundry room. The inclusion of this room but no pot washing facilities seem to indicate that the site was originally intended for caravans. We could find one water point located roughly in the middle of the long site.
We paid just £12 to pitch for the night just feet away from the river. The owner said we could pitch anywhere and had no indication that riverside pitches were frowned upon as indicated in other reviews. There is a pub right next to the site which we did not have time to visit but it looked fine and there was no noise from the pub even though we stayed on a busy Saturday.
We were planning to do some walking during our stay but sitting next to the river watching the boats and wildlife was all we managed to do! The Thames path runs on the opposite side of the river and we may walk some of that next time we visit - we will definitely go back.

This site is for those who like things basic. Toilet and shower bock is very primitive by modern standards, and the site is a little run down. Having said that, the site is fantastic for it's location and is very laid back.
The elderly lady who runs the site took our payment through the kitchen window and just told us to sort ourselves out with regard to where we pitched. We pitched up right on the river bank.
We are definitely going back for a longer stay as the site suited us very much.
The Barley Mow is literally on the door step no more than 100 yards from any of the pitches. The pub is great, 2 beer gardens 5 real ales all on top form, good food at reasonable prices and very friendly staff.
We paid £16 per night in Sept with EHU.

Just enjoyed a two nights here for £24. We pitched near the river's edge (which apparently is frowned upon but the site owners were not about when we arrived to check) so had a lovely view of the Thames and Clifton Hampden bridge.
As we were on the right hand side of the site (facing the Thames and near Bridge House itself) we did not have a view of Didcot Power Station, which the static caravans on the left faced.
You can swim in the river and an access point can be found near the house.
The showers were fine and cost 20p. The hot water lasted ages. A dust about wouldn't be a bad idea to get rid of the creepy crawlies though. Hot water in the toilets was 10p but cold water was free.
There was a laundry room but we couldn't find a room to wash dishes in.
Two thatched pubs nearby (one a Chef & Brewer chain & the other a free house serving Chinese food). The latter's bar was small & cosy with low beams and it had a lovely beer garden. The landlord was a humorous chap.
We walked to Dorchester on Thames via the Thames Path, which was very nice & got a taxi back. Be warned the taxi has to come from Wallingford & coast over £11 for a 2. 5 mile journey!
All in all I would recommend this site as its picturesque and cheap, even in high season. Oh, and there were no kids!

Camped one night to launch canoe to paddle up to Abingdon and back. Basic site, good value, no noisy gazebo people for a change. Tried Plough pub after reading a recommendation on here.
Chinese takeaway took just under an hour, enough time to sell us a couple of drinks each. Took meal back to campsite to find that Thai Green Curry was chip shop curry sauce with 6 prawns in it. Cost of takeaway and drinks bought whilst waiting £23.50, chances of ever going back to Plough nil.
Will definitely use this campsite again, no charge for leaving car all day whilst canoeing, toilets basic but clean, the hens & geese where no problem, but swans expecting to be hand fed put my wife off a bit.

We loved this site, not least for its location. Friendly campers, peaceful and relaxing. If you like cheeky hens, honking geese and ducks waddling over to see you, then it's for you.Lady who runs it is chilled out and nice. Some campers had dogs with them - kept on long leads prob due to abundant wildlife. Yes the loo block is out-dated and sinks are cramped but good size, the external shower meter gives approx 3 mins very hot good-pressure water per 20p, all in working order and good enough. Adjacent pretty pub has handy cashpoint inside, alternatively The Plough is a short walk away and close to the Post Office/village shop which surprisingly was open very early Sunday morning. Gorgeous little church which is lit up at night. Very natural towpath walks just over the extremely picturesque bridge, also the village is worth some casual exploration, pretty cottages tucked away everywhere. We'll visit again.

My husband and I have just stayed at Bridge House for one night.
The campsite is on the banks of the river and we enjoyed watching all the boats and canoes going past.
The facilities are basic but adequate.
You can buy free range eggs from the house.Laid by the permanent campsite residents.
There is a pub next door with a lovely beer garden and one further into the village serving chinese food. The village has a shop/post office open every day selling basics and newspapers.
The site has a very laid back feel.
We had a lovely relaxing time and going to book again very soon.
