What an amazing site. The staff are really friendly and cannot do enough for you. The location is amazing on the banks of the infant River Forth. Free fishing is included. Wildlife is great - I forgot my binoculars but spotted Treeceepers, male and female Goosander, a Mallard with chicks and a possible Kingfisher.
You can hire binoculars from reception. The shop/reception has books and dvds for sale (2nd hand with proceeds to charity), leaflets on all the local attractions, walks and cycle rides and there are bird/wildlife quizzes for the kids with prizes.
I cannot recommend this place enough.

Stayed here in a motorhome on our last night of our trip, very friendly welcome from warden and given our pitch which was hard standing down by the river and near the facilities.
Facilities were immaculate and warm. Walked into Aberfoyle in the afternoon down a Tarmac path by the river for a look around and in the evening got the free mini bus to the local pub (recommended and leaflet given by warden ) where we had a fabulous meal and drinks and then brought back to the site.
Fabulous site and I'm sure we will return.

3rd visit to this site over a few years and consistently to a good standard. This time in our motorhome, previous visits in our caravan. Wardens welcome is great, we had booked a hard standing pitch but wanted to be down near the river this time, wardens changed our pitch no problem.
Main area beside river is mostly grass pitches in a large field but benefits from less tree shade hence more sun ( when it comes out) compared to other pitches which are terraced and on higher ground. Down side of this is, if in a tent, some pitches don't fully drain that well after rain.
Site has had some upgrading since last visit mostly due to hard work of wardens with some improved landscaping and planting. Motorhome service point at entrance just after warden’s office, with drain down facilities, drinking water and grey water disposal.
Great walks from the site into surrounding forests and paths to Aberfoyle (approx. 20min walk Co-Op store, pub/ hotel /garden centre/cafe's, petrol station), including tarmac cycle path on opposite side of river (takes you past Rob Roy Hotel, good food/drink).
Use my own facilities on board but had a look and toilet block was very clean. Chemical waste point (with hand sanitiser is a nice touch) and pot wash areas adjacent to toilet block. If you want a quiet pitch choose one of the hard standing pitches up on the terraces, otherwise the main field which is a bit noisier ( kids play area etc. ) but not a problem really for us when we visited.
Not the cheapest, but standard price for Camping in the Forrest site, you get a discount for Camping and Caravan Club members.

Lovely camp site with the river forth running down 1 side
Toilet block and shower block very clean, didn't have to wait once to use showers. Small playground for kids my 10 year old son enjoyed playing with other kids. We were allowed to fish in the river within the camp site as part of the price for camping but with no success (Can't blame the camp site for that though).
Several walks in the surrounding area Aberfoyle approx 1/2 hour walk along cycle path with pubs and shops etc. Well situated for touring around central Scotland and the Trossachs even did a trip to Oban one day.
Very peaceful and relaxing very helpful and friendly warden answered any questions we had about the area. Only slight criticism the site has a policy of silence from 11pm, I thought that 10pm would be more suitable.
This wasn't an issue most of the time as everyone was very considerate of each other and seemed to settle down from 9pm but unfortunatly on one of the nights one of the familys didn't seem to take much notice of this and had to be asked to be quiet at about 11:30 (To be fair they were quiet after this and settled down earlier every other night)But it was peace and quiet the rest of the time.
Will certainly visit again.

Had a couple of nights here in Mid October. Weather was superb, if a bit cold at night. This is a really nice little site, with excellent facilities. Good toilet block with separate shower block. The wardens were very pleasant and helpful. The river runs at bottom of site. Very nice setting.
Great flat walks here as well. From the site, a short walk through the woods, onto main path leads to the village of Aberfoyle. Just outside the site is the cycle / walking track which goes to Aberfoyle, as well as the opposite direction.
We enjoyed Aberfoyle, as a couple of pubs were dog friendly, and surprisingly so were a couple of the bigger shops.
Would definitely come back next season.

This is a fantastic campsite! The toilet block was extremely clean, with showers. The staff were very helpful and friendly, providing details of how to get to Callander as well as local walks. The campsite is fairly enclosed so it's safe for kids to play around. There is also a small playground to keep them occupied. Very close to Glasgow - nice to get away but not to have to travel too far. Would definitely recommend and will be going back for another break next Spring/Summer.

Stayed for May bank holiday Weekend. All booking was done online with no problems. Did think the site was a little expensive and a lot more than we normally pay but other sites were fully booked.
On arriving on the site we were met with a warm welcome. The site was small but full of charm. Located next to a lovely river. With loads of walks on your doorstep. If your into cycling this is a great location for you. With loads of well signposted cycle paths just outside the site.
Toilets and showers are kept to a very high standard by the staff. The site has a small playground but our 6 and 8 year old were not very impressed but did make quite a few friends and had a great time. The grass pitch we were on had a few drainage issues and was only about 85% grass rest was very bare.
All in all, a very lovely site with ideal walking and cycling on your doorstep. It's only real down side was at £76 for two nights quite expensive. I do believe if your in the caravan and camping club it's cheaper.

Another site to add to our favorites!
The warm and welcoming greeting set up the standard of care from the off at this site. Very informative about all that's to do in the area, including all the walks/bike rides accessible from the site. Mentioned that I had my GPS. And was pointed to a poster by the door that gives you co-ords for Coblelands very own geocache hidden in the woods [a bonus in my books!]They told us about an organised easter egg hunt that was taking place on the Sunday if our lad was interested. There were also scavenger hunt sheets and a wild life sheet too.
All facilities were spotless and well looked after. We had asked for a hard standing pitch, and were surprised at how big the individual pitches were.
When our son came off his bike on the second day of our week stay[just round the corner from the site] and broke his arm, the staff were great, gave us ice and ice blocks and even signed his cast once he'd visited two of the areas hospitals.
There is plenty to do in the local area and further afield if you so wish.
Stunning spot, scenery, dog walks and caches galore!
We can't rate this site or staff highly enough. Wish I could give 20/10 for the overall rating.
We will make a return visit that's for certain.

Happy to recommend the site highly. Stayed here so OH could attend a day at Nick Nairn's cook school at nearby Port of Menteith. Fees reduced for C&CC members. We had a warm welcome from Graham, one of only two Managers. We'd booked hardstanding (same price as grass), but most of the hardstands are on a higher platform cut into the wooded hillside which feels like a large car park. So we asked to move down to the lower more open sunny grassy area. No midges, surprisingly. Ample recycling; there's a MH grey water dump; there's also a Teepee with nature-related interest; and you're invited to help yourself to the cooking herbs growing by the office. Spotless toilet block - though there are so many notices about saving water / keeping quiet after 11 / not burning wood, that you do blank them out. Midweek the site was quiet and relaxing. Less restful at the weekend, as the site was popular with many families pitched together; the older children enjoy themselves running, cycling and playing football in large noisy groups; the parents talk on loudly well past midnight; and the babies wake at dawn. The joys of camping! But when a child started pressing a car horn continuously, the site manager literally ran to put a stop to the noise, still wearing his toilet-cleaning rubber gloves.
The site is great for dog walking, the chunky leaflet about the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park is very useful as it shows dozens of walks - the Blue trail then the Green trail up to Doon Hill makes a good hour's loop from the site. Also shown is the Three Lochs Forest Drive on the A821 out of Aberfoyle, well worth the £2 toll (allow most of the day), with lots of waymarked trails and cracking views. The Mhor Bakery in Callender makes a range of fantastic bread; the proper butcher in Aberfoyle comes recommended; the run out to Stronachlachar is worthwhile especially if this co-incides with the arrival of the steamship from the Trossachs pier; or take bikes on the ferry from Trossachs pier to Stronachlachar and cycle back to the car on the path along the north shore of Loch Katrine; and you can walk part of the West Highland Way if you continue on to Inversnaid on Loch Lomond. Loads more cycle paths and there's a Go Ape at The Lodge visitor centre north of Aberfoyle.

Great site, especially for kids. The playground is small but well maintained and suitable for 3+, rangers come in regularly and put on great activities for kids (we built rafts and then raced them down the river). There are also wildlife trails and scavenger hunts to keep them busy. Facilities are very clean and well looked after. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Surrounding area has lots of things to do.
