First time visit to this site. Found the Toilet blocks very clean and in good order, Found the size of plots good but unorganised. Found the staff very friendly lots for children to do. However need some tlc on the facilities such as changing rooms in swimming pool they needed a paint job. The only gripe I have is that I paid £8.25 for 3 nights for my dog yet only paid £7.50 for the same three nights for my son.

The site is just of A75 which is ideal for access to most areas. However the noise can be a shock at night but you learn to live with it after a few hours

First time camping myself hubby and 3 kids aged 2 4 and 9 and puppy bella . Didn't know what to expect so just went with the flow. When we were putting tent other campers offered us tea, coffee and the kids fruit. This was great. Our pitch was next to swing park so while we put tent up kids played away. With their new friends. Park was fab loads of toilets and showers never had to q up once even though the park was busy. Swimming pool kids loved . Everything was fab love camping and will be back soon. This park was fun ,clean ,tidy and very friendly wish I had stayed for longer but had to come home for work.

 Excellent site

Phoned the night before arrival hoping for 3 pitches next to each other as had to leave existing site in a hurry (another story & read review on lochside site, castle douglas, for info) and was openly accommodated.

Flat, clean large pitches with electric hook ups. Delightful views all round with plenty space for kids to run around without bothering other campers.

With the heated indoor pool, sauna, adventure play ground, tennis pitches, playing fields, restaurant (didn't try but seemed reasonable & had kids menu) and games room, there is loads for everyone to do.

Word of warning though, the pool is unsupervised & kids must be accompanied by an adult.

There is also adult only times in the pool but I was scared to go at these times in case I saw something I shouldn't have or was accused of something by the wife!

We were charged £25 per night for the pitch, but the was for 2 adults, 2 kids a dog & ECU, included in the price is unlimited access to the pool, sauna, club bar etc.

The site is ideally located for exploring all the south west corner of Scotland. There are too many attractions to mention but we enjoyed walks in the mabie forest, visiting castles to name a few.

I think the only downfall is the lack of a site shop offering the basics i.E milk, tea, bread etc. But having said that there is a small shop in the village 200m down the hill offering all this so it might be an agreement of the site to support local trade which can only be a good thing.

In short. Despite sounding a bit like a large commercial holiday park it' not, it is a really really good family ran site, very well priced, caters for everyone with good clean/warm shower block with free unlimited hot water.

Would definitely return.

After phoning ahead during a long drive from Skye, we were firstly told that the reception had already closed(5.10pm). The details on the Visit Scotland pamphlet promised greatness, and a great big price too! Upon arrival, we went to the bar and they couldn't even tell us how much it was to camp for the night!

Good flat pitch and lots of space. Numerous EHU's.

Only one central toilet/block. In gents 3 showers. Two cubicles were so small that you had to stand back in wet/puddle of blocked shower tray to open door! One shower broken so that as hot water started to flow, the temp adjustment knob fell off. It had been badly repaired with mastic and was a scolding risk! Ill fitting toilet cubicle doors. One actually fell off whilst I was using it and trying to hold it shut!

Pool was a little shabby with cracks around the liner and wet/messy/ very small changing rooms.

Sauna was out of order. Road noise, especially for campers.

It seems to be a bit of faded glory here. The entrance looks very posh but the money is made from the statics/lodges etc and a high camping fee does not reflect the facilities.

Fantastic and really friendly especially 'Julie' shes fab ! who went out of her way to make our stay here over the new year excellent. This site has great facilities, from our children's favourite, a heated indoor pool which is included in your fee, to a lovely warm clean toilet block. We will definitely going back to this site again hopefully soon. It is set in a lovely location, beautiful views over the loch, lots to see and do on and off this site. It has a variety of accommodation from wooden chalets and static caravans. We were in our tourer, the pitch was hard standing and level, with water point and electric hook up to the side of the van. The site was so well laid out with bins, waste disposal and elsan points around the site

Been to this Site many times before.

1st visit for New Year though.

Really pleased we choose Brandedleys to bring our new year in with.

The Fireworks were excellent even though a lot of people wandered off before they had finished due to a slight pause.

The food was Lovely & was more than enough to go around.

D.V.D,s put on to keep the kids amused during the day.

The facilities are excellent on site, everywhere is clean and tidy & well maintained. The pool is lovely but unfortunately the showers at pool were freezing on this occasion.

Only 10amp hook up so this can be a problem at times more so in the colder weather.

To finish the Staff are excellent, all helpful & extremely friendly, couldn't have made you feel any more welcome.

Went to the site for new year and was happy I did!

The staff are helpful and friendly, the toilets and showers are warm and clean, even though it was well below freezing outside!

Meals in the restaurant were good value and tasty, the bar prices are very reasonable. The site was clean and tidy.

My only gripe was that being so cold the water froze in the caravan and there was nowhere to wash up my dishes, as the area put aside for this is outside and was frozen too! Minor gripe though, will definitely be back!

We have just returned from a 5 day trip to this site and can't recommend it highly enough. Staff are very friendly and attend to any needs very promptly - e.g. When we kept tripping the electricity by having too many appliances on at once!

Our pitch was hardstanding but not enough space on the hardstanding for the awning and grass got very muddy after a downpour. We ended up moving the caravan to another pitch and they were very accommodating.

Pool and changing rooms are very clean, water warm and a good place to take the kids if it's raining.

Restaurant serves tasty food at reasonable prices.

Park seems immaculate and very well maintained.

Only two downsides - first, the park is on the main Dumfries to Stranraer road so the ferry traffic can be very noisy, even at 6.30am. Secondly, the children's play area is small and pretty limited.

However there are so many good things about this park that these are minor gripes by comparison. We'll be back!

Visited the site last week for week commencing 18 Aug after looking on the website. It looked okay and ticked all the boxes regarding kids play area, pool, tennis courts, and a games room. It had nice bar area with pool table and restaurant. We booked it from Monday to Saturday as the price was cheap and included electric hook up. We arrived for about 3ish on the day we were due to. The receptionist told us to pick the best site out of 5 pitches as they had had complaints about waterlogging on a couple of them. We picked the one we thought was the driest. We started to unload and pitch the tent only to find after walking round putting the pegs in the ground was getting very boggy. By this time it was just starting to rain so we thought just get the tent up and it will drain off but by the time we got all sorted out with all our gear the front entrance to the tent was a mud bath and we had to use the back door for the rest of our stay so do check your pitches.

When you go to this camp site make sure you have got everything and double check because they do not have a shop on site and the closest shop is in the village about 10 mins walk and it's the village post office so it's just got your basic things .The nearest camp shop is in Dumfries and it's a Millets camp shop. Parking is a nightmare in Dumfries centre - there seems to be plenty of parking but when you follow the signs they are very small car parks.

We found the camp site very noisy as there was a road just at the back and was mainly used by tractors and other agricultural equipment very early in the morning and late at night.

Having said all this the site was a scenic site with swimming pool, had a good value restaurant with delicious food, very helpful staff and showerblocks very clean and tidy and no payment needed for the use of them which is always a bonus.

There are lots of things to do within a 20 mile radius of the site and all good value for money. Worth a visit but just check pitch allocated before putting tent up.

Clean and pleasant site with helpful staff. Was disappointed to realise that a fully serviced pitch; which we had paid for; actually turned out to be a fully serviced pitch shared between two touring caravans and the drainage point was uphill making drainage impossible! In order to make use the fully serviced water facility we were forced to pitch the caravan in the completely opposite direction to all other tourers. Make sure if paying for fully serviced pitch that the side of your water point corresponds to the nearest outlet. On a positive note the toilets were kept immaculately clean and there were plenty of children around to keep my only daughter entertained. The indoor pool was a good place to spend an hour or so.
