This is a working riding school with a campsite as an add-on. I spent two nights on this site. On arrival I was met by the friendly owner who directed me through the yard to the pitches. The atmosphere is very casual and laid back and I found everyone friendly. The toilet block is basic but seemed clean enough - I didn't use the facilities so can't comment further. There is a view of Loch Ness from the pitches which was nice to wake up to in the morning.
This place is great if you love horses but a nightmare if you hate 'farm smells'!
TV reception is very poor and no freeview reception at all. The only mobiles which work are apparently Virgin ones.

That was the last one and the worst one place on our road trip. Staff was lazy and not very friendly. We've been waiting about half an hour at the reception before anyone came. There was sick (almost dying) cat hanging around tents. Horses were very dirty. Bathrooms were even worse then basic and very dirty. The only good thing was nice view and Loch Ness. We've stayed there 3 nights

Management response: Please note that since this review, throughout 2016 and 2017 we have upgraded the facilities on the campsite, and this review no longer reflects the current site.
We have created 25 new 10m x 10m hardstanding pitches (17 with electricity) for Caravans and Motorhomes
There are two new toilet block facilities for Ladies and Gentlemen which are fitted with 3 showers to a block and have ample toilet, shaver points and washing facilities. There are also facilities for Disabled people. Free wi-fi is available right across the Park. |

We stayed for 3 days at this beautifully located site, a 2 mile walk away from Loch Ness. Basic facilities, but clean and adequate. We stayed in the top part of the site, next to the stable blocks, but there is a large touring field at the bottom of the hill, which would be more suitable if you intend to put the awning up. We will definitely go back to this site.

Lovely small site on a farm. Motorhomes/ caravans parked on hardstandings at farm and tents in 2 fields. We went in high season and site was full but still quiet. Basic but clean facilities. Ideal for 1 or 2 nights stay to visit Loch Ness exhibition in Drumnadrochit. We had our bikes and cycled in but we could have walked. Plenty of walk round about and the children loved the farm animals.

Had a lovely night at this place. Friendly, helpful staff and beautiful view from the small tent camping area, which is probably a bit steep in places, but we got in fairly early.
It's also a horse farm so pick you're spot away from the horse enclosure entrance if you don't want to be awoken earlyish by women chasing horses. We didn't mind.
The local pub had expensive okayish food and an excellent outdoor area (where you couldn't eat for some reason) for taking in the sunset, and you can walk to the Loch through a wood which is beautiful. A dip in the river was lovely and fresh.

Excellent site. Staff very friendly and not intrusive, once you were booked in you were left alone. Site was very quiet, we were on the top field with two other tents. Wonderful views. The field is slanted but not too much to worry about. Showers and toilets were basic but clean. Well worth £9 a night.

A lovely campsite. Room for a few tents in the top field where we stayed for 2 nights and met lots of walkers completing a walk from Fort William to Inverness. Basic facilities but clean , views fab, 10 mins to Drum, try the Fiddlers for food, very good, we saw buzzards, red kite and a barn owl hunting at night - the sounds of owls is wonderful, good stopping point off the A82 , you cannot miss it, just as you enter Lewiston.

July 2004 Overall a very good place to stay. The toilets and showers are nice and close by if you are lucky enough to get a spot on the top section, there are only approx 7 places here for caravans and approx 30 tent pitches here also. 3 of the caravan pitches in the top section seem to be used permenantly for live in staff by the looks. This site has by far the best facilities for horse riding I've ever seen in the loch ness area, if you wish to take the kids on a short pony ride, then parents can take them themselves, which was a nice touch. The staff were very friendly and didn't seem to mind the riot my kids made either. There are many more pitches in a field below the top section but it is quite a distance (and uphill at that) from the toilets, I was really very lucky to get a pitch at the top... It's a very convenient site for castle urquhart and the drumnadrochit exhibitions. Take note here DO NOT visit the "Original Lochness Exhibition Centre" goto the "Official Loch Ness 2000 Exhibition Centre" instead which is just on the way out of drumnadrochit. The first exhibition is a complete and utter waste of money comprising of a central exhibit with a 10 minute video show and a few pictures around the outside, if you take a family in like mine it costs around £20..needless to say I was a bit miffed after seeing what cost me £20.
This campsite all in all is quite clean well placed and great if you're into horse riding. Tip: If you have kids, take the time to drive out to the cairngorms and visit the mountain railway, safari park and the landmark forest theme park near aviemore.

July 2003 Nice hot showers but unfortunately metered, but given the low price of a pitch understandable. You have the choice of a brilliant flat groung down below, but if you want to rough it a bit the views at the top site are incredible, looking over Loch Ness, the hills to your other side and also great view of Drumnadrochit. Drum is only a 10 minute walk away, with loads of great shops and Loch Ness centres.
Also if you like horses then this place is for you. You have horses in the fields next to you and come through the stables to enter/leave the site. Also a brilliant riding centre on site with the best rides I have ever been on. Again prices are resonable and they also take beginners on rides.
