We arrived a little later than the last check in but the owners were very welcoming. The site was beautifully situated with amazing views of the moors. Very close to the village which was very picturesque and full of history. Will definitely return.

Lovely situation for Lydford Gorge and Dartmoor. Owners very helpful with local advice, maps etc. Good pitches with hard standing, excellent facilities, it did snow the morning we left but that didn't spoil our time there. We'll go again!

I'm not usually renowned for visiting club sites due to their pricing, I find them very overrated for what they are. Lydford did surprise me. This site is fairly relaxed with rules about which way you park. Some days I like to be nose in some days my other end in. Able to choose my own pitch and parked how I like. Never use camp showers but these were so clean and well presented that I did. Good motorhome service point. Friendly wardens. Good laundry room and fair reception for wifi. A very well run site although the caravan club still have some very snobby members! 2 adults, 2 nights about £46. Walking distance to gorge and pub.

Another great stay at Lydford - sadly only 1 night as we were passing through. The owners kindly managed to get us in at short notice which was brilliant!
We both love this campsite with its spectacular views of the moor and the lovely village of Lydford right next door with a fantastic tourist friendly pub! The facilities are spotless with fabulous hot showers, a wifi room, washup area and lovely little shop.
One thing that we really like is that, despite us having a pretty old scruffy campervan, we are always accepted and the other campers are friendly to us hippies haha! One day we will have a lovely new van. One day!
Always looking forward to our next visits!

We live in Exeter and often set off for a two or sometimes, 3 day weekend. We couldn't believe how well placed this site is for walking and exploring north Dartmoor.
On arrival the site seemed very busy with mostly caravans but we were directed to the tent field and given a choice of 4 pitches one with spectacular views of the moors but without EHU; we opted for a lower pitch within a 2 minute walk of the immaculate shower block (bit dated - but lovely hot showers). Lovely wardens and locally baked scones, jam and cream for £3. 00!
The site is well cared for and close to the Granite trail and the National Trusts Lydford Gorge which 9like all NT attractions) was expensive.
If you are looking for peace and quiet, friendly staff and plenty of walks (and a couple of very nice pubs), Lydford is for you.

Stayed for a weekend which turned out to be the local music festival that saturday.
We were given a warm and helpful welcome. We were given a choice of pitches and shown to the selected pitch. Full knowledge of what sun and satelite reception were imparted.
We were in the field behind the main field and it was nicely laid out our pitch was level! bonus.
Toilet block was very clean and tidy. Didn't have to queue which was good as the site was pretty full. Cant comment on the tent area as we didn't take a look.
The music night was saturday and sounded very good beleived it finished about 11pm.
This gave way to the odd owl hooting before over taken by the woman in the pitch next to us bearing in mind the decent distance between units who was one of these women who loved the sound of her own voice.
Just makes me chuckle that some people still cant grasp that canvas/caravan offer no sound proofing.
Still that paved the way nicely for my usual nights battle to get to sleep before my other half sadly as she was so relaxed already from the feel of this site. I had no chance.
We will be returning to recharge our batteries.

We had a lovely week at lydford site. The wardens were very helpful and good for a laugh. The toilets were always spotless.
There is a lovely dog walk around the outer edge of the site, the grass was always trimmed with a seat half way to sit and admire the view.
The granite way cycle path starts in the village and goes for eleven miles to oakhampton station.
The castle pub in the village is a good place for a meal, and it is dog friendly.
The site is easy to find and as a good access via a barrier.
The reception as a small shop for essentials.

This is a delightful site. We were made very welcome and shown to our pitch, which was an almost level hard standing with EHU. We found the site quiet, except for the bleeting of lambs and the odd squawk of pheasants! The toilets and showers were clean and the water hot. The site is a short walk from Lydford Gorge, which is well worth a visit. My only minor concern was that some pitches were a little small. We would certainly return to this site.

And yes we used this site again! Good stop over point for us on the way to Cornwall.
Again wonderful friendly helpful staff and views across to Dartmoor from our pitch.
The Granite Way is now complete, so no road cycling at all. All off road all the way to Okehampton, though there is one section that is not always open (open at landowners discretion) but the diversion is over moorland and not on the road.
The only downside to this site is that you have to stay a minimum of 2 night.
