One of my favourite campsites, it is does not have all the bells and whistles that many other campsite have (swimming pool etc) but it has fine toilets and showers. The location is stunning, really close to the coastal path, approximately half an hours walk to Porthcurno beach where the Minnack Theatre is. Very relaxed and friendly and family orientated. Unfortunately you cannot book so it is a bit pot luck whether you can get a pitch.

We were at Treen Farm with a family-size tent. We arrived at the car-park at the bottom of the dirt track leading to the campsite at 9am not knowing what to do as the little wooden hut in the field was shut and there were no clear signs or instructions to be seen! We walked up the track to the campsite (shop and reception) and had our name added to a waiting list and told to wait at the aforementioned wooden hut at 10:30 pending departures. The (Lady) owner appeared at 10:30 and promptly started calling names on the list and collecting CASH (or cheques but NO Cards of any kind). No receipts were given and if you don't happen to have enough cash for the duration of your stay then you simply have to provide the cash by 10am the following day(s) for the remainder of your stay. Pitches are on a first-come, first-served basis. Location on a sunny day is good with distant views of the sea. Of course this is relative to your previous camping experience in the UK and/or abroad. We have been to some spectacular campsites in the Alpes and Pyrenees in France, Italy and Spain which have been far more picturesque and well appointed than Treen Farm but, on the whole, on a sunny day it is a most pleasant site. The site's quality and quantity of toilet, shower and washing facilities are very poor. Showers are by token only (25 pence/token) which, after the initial shock (haven't seen this system abroad for at least 10 years), becomes understandable as it makes queues redundant but (effectively) gives you 5 minutes in one of 8 shower cubicles (2 men only, 2 ladies only and 4 mixed). There are NO facilities for washing clothes. There are only 4 very poor sinks for washing dishes and almost ALL taps on site are of the 'PRESS' type which wouldn't stay on at all. No mixer taps. The layout of the toilets/showers are prehistoric. During our stay the facilities were reasonably clean. There are no facilities for washing body/surf boards and wetsuits. Pitch layout is very good with plenty of space to provide a nice feel to the place and the rules regarding cars NOT parking between tents is a GOOD one thus providing an enhanced feeling of space. If the wind blows hard you are the mercy of gods wherever you are! Make sure you errect your tent well with ALL guy ropes attached. Even on a good day it was difficult to keep a gas burner 'alive' in open space so a cheap windbreak would be quite useful. Shop is very reasonably stocked and priced with nice pastries, croissantes, donuts, etc as well as other useful items. Overall this is a good campsite at a nice location within good proximity (walk, cycle, car) of many interesting places as mentioned elsewhere. However the relatively poor shower, toilet, washing facilities as well as cash only payment method are of concern.

This campsite's best feature is it's location, treen and porthcurno beaches are beautiful and both are in walking distance (although not the easiest walks)
The family running the site are friendly and very helpful, they have a shop on site open in the morning and late afternoon (although we were unable to get eggs from them 2 days in a row)
Facilities on the sight were good and cleaned regularly, the only down point was that the freezers for the ice blocks weren't cold enough to actually freeze the blocks.

This is a magnificent site! WHY?
With respect to our caravanning friends this was for tents and motor-homes only thus it had a wonderful true camping atmosphere. It is spacious and the toilets and shower facilities are very clean. There is a very well stocked little shop which serves home baked chocolate and Victoria sponge cake along with local produced pasties.
The hamlet of Treen has a real community feel about it with locals supporting each other and being very considerate to us campers who contribute to their local economy. The local pub is super!
The beaches below the cliffs and in Porthcurno are a dream but beware the Pednvounder Beach has a very strenuously steep climb down to it and also be prepared to meet nude bathers as it is partly a naturist beach. However, it can be walked to, from Porthcurno beach, when the tide is out.
I took a, two hour, sea-wildlife trip along this coast and it was awesome. We saw, very close-up, basking sharks, seals and wonderful sea birds with spectacular views of this beautiful coast and then there was the fun of the inflatable speed boat bouncing off the waves. This can be found in Penzance near the Scilly Isles ferry quay. £30 but worth very penny as was our visit to the wonderful Menack Theatre. You cannot visit here and not experience this wonderful venue.
This was the best site I have visited in a very long time, indeed perhaps ever. It is friendly, spacious, has a lovely local pub and tea house only a few minutes walk away! Go visit and get there early as no bookings taken!

Stayed here late May 2009 BH weekend.
The site itself is in a great location overlooking the sea to the south. There are no specified pitches as such but there are picnic tables which sort of designate where you camp. The owner is very friendly and helpful and it was clear he did not want to cram campers in together to get the maximum number in, as such we had plenty of space around our tent and our own picnic table.
The owner doesn’t like cars parked between tents - not quite sure why (it’s certainly not because of lack of space – there’s stacks), personally I think a car parked between tents gives an additional level of privacy and also means you don’t have to look out the tent door at a vehicle - just a minor gripe.
When we stayed the weather was great with just a slight breeze the first day, however, the site would be very exposed in bad / windy weather so take note of the forecast and your tents stability! However, the advantage to the sites location is that it is very close to the fantastic coast just a few minutes walk along the footpath to the coast path. Once on the coast path you have a choice of a short walk (5mins) west to Porthcurno beach, a more immediate scramble down to some less accessible beaches or walks along the coast path in either direction.
Facilities were good and cleaned regularly – basic but well maintained. The showers were probably the only slight downside - there are four, all off the communal drying / freezer / washing machine room. The meter (which takes tokens for 25p) gives five minutes but will only take one at a time so if you want more time you need to don towel open the shower door to communal area and insert another token in the meter just outside. The advantage to this system is that although there were queues, these turned around fairly quickly. The showers themselves were warm and the changing room spacious.
By the early evening of the Friday the site had filled up and a sign went up saying the site was full, however it really did not feel full as the owner gives more thought to campers comfort than gaining extra cash by cramming. One point to note is that you cannot book this site and because the owner doesn’t like campers turning up and pitching camp when not announcing their arrival, then at busy periods – those arriving late may well be disappointed – so have a backup plan!
The atmosphere of site was friendly with a good mix of families, couples and some groups of friends. Noise was certainly not a problem and it was quiet and relaxed. Note that the owner does not permit open fires but does supply blocks to place BBQ’s on.
If you’re after an evening pint and food then the local pump in Treen was ideally and just a short walk down the track. Beer was good (though very expensive I thought) and food all looked fine pub type grub.
We paid £11.50/night for two people tent and car which we thought was good value.
Overall I rate this site highly for its location, quiet relaxed atmosphere and helpful staff. I would definitely stay here again but maybe think twice if there were gales forecast.

As the other reviewers we also liked the place. End of September it was rather quiet and we had lots of space. After a week the winds got stronger and our tent was no longer up to the task. But, well, that might have been our mistake, to bring along a dome tent standing up to 1,80m.
The view is gorgeous and the facilities are ok. They clean them regularly, but when you look a bit closer at the sinks and beneath. The water with which they sweep the floor frequently looked like it hadn't been changed for a day or two. The pitch areas are well maintained. We paid 13 Pounds per night, and felt we got real value for this money.
We can really recommend this beautiful site.

I'm not sure the campsite is anything to get excited about, the location is though.
I'd much rather stick a pair of hiking boots on and head up the nearest hill so it was with a heavier than normal heart that I acquiesced to my girlfriend's beach-holiday request. This was slightly offset by the fact that I had never been to Cornwall and had only heard good things about it. Plus I'd just bought a new car and fancied the drive.
We turned up at the site at 8.30-ish on a Monday (I think) evening and had no problems pitching, which was lucky as the site operates a first-come-first-served policy and you can't pre-book. The tent was up by 9 and then we strolled off into basically a fairytale. The local beach (tide in) was gorgeous. The walk back to the campsite was to the accompaniment of Verdi from the Minack theatre. The weather was flawless. Overall it was a magical introduction to Cornwall.
The following morning we treated ourselves to the first of many cream teas in the cafe down the end of the track before experiencing the local beaches. The water wasn't warm, mind. Mid-July 17C. Think twice. That evening we went to the local pub. Expensive but charming.
The following day we walked to Land's End and back- the coastal path is awesome. A fairly easy walk but with some staggering views, lovely secluded little beaches and seals fishing just offshore. The evening saw a short drive to St. Ives, which was yet another example of picture- postcard prettiness. Not an easy one to drive through though.
We were also able to visit Penzance (nice in places), take photos of Marazion/St. Michael's Mount from the mainland and visit Lizard Point (the southernmost part of Britain).
So while the campsite is basically a field atop a cliff at the end of the country, it is mainly about the location.

It looks great, but beware - there is no booking facility, so in peak season it works on a first-come first-served basis. This means that, if it's full, you register interest at the local post office and turn up the next morning in the hope that you'll be called in.
We wouldn't have tried, but the day before we set out the owner had said there was a good chance of getting a pitch. Really, there was no chance at all. But the owner is really nice, and recommended a much larger site close by.

Just returned from this brilliant campsite,on the edge of the cliffs overlooking Logan's Rock.
We found it by chance but will definetly be going back. Plenty of space, showers and toilets and a pub within walking distance.
The cafe at the end of the lane served fresh bacon rolls, homemade pasties and proper coffee a must if you need a caffeine fix like me.
Pitches are allocated by availability and as we packed up people were waiting to get in -weekends being really busy.

Arriving at the campsite we could see why so many people rate it; although basic, it has everything you need to survive when camping and with amazing views it’s a great place to stay.
We just plonked ourselves in the back field (which is undoubtedly windier being higher) but had loads of room to park the cars around our two tents and create our own little area without encroaching on the other residents.
We turned up late (8pm) so the on-site shop (a large garden shed) wasn’t open so we pitched up and in the morning talked to the owner, who was a great guy and not at all bothered that we’d not got in touch about pitching up.
Prices are a fiver a night, which is about standard, and the shop opens for a few hours in the morning and a couple of hours in the evening. It sells basics like bread, milk and veg, plus you can pick up maps and other stuff that’ll come in useful for a wander.
The showers were cleaned regularly and although not the most powerful, were fine. You need to get shower tokens from the shop for 25p that give you five minutes. Any unused tokens will be refunded. The men’s toilet block was a bit stinky on the day we arrived (a Wednesday), probably because there were loads of people on the site. The smell came and went though and wasn’t anything I haven’t experienced at any other, more expensive sites around the UK. There are sinks with hot water for washing up and there’s a drying room (with showers) where you can tumble dry your clothes (think it was 20p for five minutes) and there are also freezers for freezer packs, plus plenty of mains sockets.
I think I spotted some electric hook-ups on some pitches but never enquired about them.
The nearest pub, the Logan Rock Inn, is a nice place with two brilliant Jack Russells that wander around. The beer is excellent (Tribute) and the food was good, and about the price we expected for a tourist pub. That’s a two-minute walk from the site down the lane. There’s a lane from the site direct to the coastal path and within 15-20 minutes you can be down in Porthcurno and o the beach. This is where the Minnack theatre is. The theatre was about a £10pp and a really good experience, even if the play we saw was a bit pants. Remember to take a few beers with you, rent one of the padded seats when you get there and take some warm clothing, as the sea breeze can make it a bit chilly.
Penzance, which was wet and dull when we visited, is only 15 minutes drive away and St Ives is about 20 minutes. Land’s End is basically out of the site, past the pub, turn left and carry on for five minutes and then you’re there.
This campsite is just the right mix of basicness, simplicity and location and was a great place to stay - highly recommended.
