I called this site after reading the reviews as it seemed a rather good site for the location and activities we planned to take the kids to, so after being there I thought I would post my own findings.
I booked 5 days on the phone and we arrived on the Monday, the site is very easy to locate.
We arrived and met the owner who was very jolly, and had the odd joke and laugh with us and told us we could pitch our tent anywhere we pleased.
The charge for our tent was £10 per night as its very large.
Most of the week was rather quiet and nice, but there were a few visitors who did spoil it for us in the middle of the week, coming onsite drunk and roudy, I was going the sabotage their caravan but was beaten to it by the owner as he was fed up with them constantly tripping the power.
The site is clean and tidy, my only gripe is with the toilets. I did pick this site due to previous reviews on the washing and toilet areas being really clean, but when we arrived the toilets and sinks could have done with a clean, and were not touched all week.
The sinks were quite dirty and the toilets were filthy, and there was no replacement of toilet roll from wednesday onwards, I was glad we brought our own.
I might be convinced to go back, but clean loos are important when camping, as its roughing it as it is, so a nice clean loo is a luxury to me as is a clean sink.

Arrived late on the Friday night. Robin and his wife greeted us and helped us get the caravan level. The site is on good ground but slopes gently, and we needed to use a levelling ramp. The overall condition of the site was fantastic, with electric hook-up, clean toilet and shower facilities, an outside sink for washing your pots, Elsan point, and recycling facilities. Only a few minutes drive to local shops and pubs, The mining museum was also very close. This is a small and friendly site and we will definitely be visiting again.

We arrived late fri night the owners were lovely and friendly, she sent us to the field and basically said to pitch where we wanted.
The toilets although are in a portacabin, are lovely and clean. There is a pub and a shop about 15 mins walk away into Flockton which is a lovely little village.
Everyone on the site was very friendly.
We had a lovely week end, my husband visited the mining museum which as has already been said is free. And well worth going.
It is situated at the side of a quite busy road but to be honest it didn't really bother us that much.
We would highly recommend this site and will be going back soon.
We paid £10.00 per night that includes awning, extra people, electric and pets. How can anyone grumble with that.

Excellent site.
We stayed here early June arriving Friday evening until Sunday morning.
The site was in good condition, completely grassed.
The toilet facilities were good, the site is small so there is only 1 shower, basin, urinal and toilet in the gents.
We never had to queue though.
Outdoor washing area is covered just incase of any rain.
The owners were lovely and made us very welcome.
We could just pitch anywhere we wanted and we were able to take a picnic table to our pitch for use over the weekend.
There is a nice pub in the village of Flockton within walking distance.
Shop also within walking distance.
We used this site as a base for the National Coal Mine museum (excellent and free) and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park (free).
On the Sunday there was also a big carboot sale nearby.
If your Satnav tells you to go down Mill Lane ignore it.
Pinfold lane is the one to use as Mill Lane is the shortcut to the pub and not recommended for cars.
It is a Caravan Club site as well I believe, it has a sign up anyway but we are not members.
We paid £8.50 a night for a 6 man tent, we did have 3 cars with us as we came from different part of the country so may have been charged extra but I doubt it as there was plenty of space and the owners were nice.

Highfield House Caravan Park is a very quiet site situated between the villages of Flockton and Emley near Wakefield West Yorkshire. It is a small but very friendly site and takes caravans, tourers and tents. This was our first family camping holiday and the site owners ensured it was a happy experience for us and our three children. Mrs Hey who runs the site made us feel very welcome and invited the children to her house to bring games up into the camping field. We have a large tent (Vango Diablo 900) which wasn't a problem as you just pitch wherever there was a space. The site was very peaceful all week and the other campers were also very friendly. There is a toilet block with showers which was kept impeccably clean at all times. The site has EHU points although we did not make use of these. There are trees on the site so if you wanted to camp in the shade you can. The site is situated about a mile from the nearest pub and shop. Venturing further out you could visit the National Mining museum, which is a good day out and with Wakefield one way and Huddersfield in the other direction there is plenty to see and do. Should you require any additions to your equipment CCC Mitchells the biggest camping shop in the north of England is about 5 miles down the road. We will be using this site again as it was very good introduction to the world of camping for our family, and as I said at the beginning of the review, if you like your camping peaceful and quiet,i would highly recommend this site.
