We have been visiting this site for a few years now and try to stay at least once a year.
Booking was easy over the phone.
The site is perfectly kept and is always neat and tidy.
As said previously there are no amenities in the village itself apart from the site shop which sells the basics. However Portsoy and Cullen have a variety of shops, cafes, etc. The fish and chip shops and ice cream shops in both are recommended!
Sandend is a stunning place to visit, the children can happily spend all day on the beach in any weather.
The weekend we were there was busy with a large group of campers who were very noisy and inconsiderate but that didn't spoil our stay.
Only small niggle is that the shower/toilet block floor is very slippery, especially when it's wet and sandy. Our youngest daughter fell several times.

We have just come back from a wonderful break at Sandend. We give the site 10/10 for the location, the warm welcome from hosts Bernhard and Jane, cleanliness of the showers and maintenance of the site itself. There is no bar, no entertainment and the ubiquitous statics don't hog all the sea views - just as we like it!
We arrived midweek and had the place more or less to ourselves, that includes the award winning beach with its crystal clear sea and powdery sandy beach. Our dog loved chasing the swallows up and down the dunes and we went back to our childhood picking up shells and exploring the rockpools. It does get busy at the weekends and on the Friday evening it was a little bit noisy as people settled in but Saturday night even though it was a scorcher- all I could hear by bedtime was the crashing of the waves.
As per the other reviews - the village doesn't have any facilities other than the fabulous beach and the campsite shop but we found most things in nearby Portsoy (4 miles)including the Portsoy Ice Cream Shop -all home made and very interesting flavours. We enjoyed a day out driving up the coast to Nairn, another fantastic award winning beach and made a pitstop at the famous Bervie Chipper. Quite possibly the weirdest location for a chip shop ever seen and a bit overated in our opinion! For larger shops there is a Tesco Superstore in Elgin - 22 miles. If you don't like shopping or cooking whilst on your break- ask Bernhard about the Nazma Tandoori in Banff about 8 miles away but well worth the drive. We're betting you won't get a better take away anywhere in Scotland. For the more discerning - there are also lots of local smokeries curing the locally caught fish - there's even one in the village itself.
For a get away from it all holiday Sandend could not be beaten - we will definitely be going back hopefully for a longer stay next time.

Just spent six glorious days at this site with our grand daughter and it was fantastic. The site is superb the toilets were clean at all times. Very friendly owners always willing to help with any problems you might have and the showers are lovely and always hot. You get four mins per token and you get handed a load of them when you book on free of charge so cant ask for better than that. The setting for this site in sandend could not be better the beach is a two minute walk away its clean and safe for the kids. The on site shop is well stocked and has all kinds of extras.

I have been going to this site for 24 years for at least one or two nights per year ( usually a week or two) . The site is located in a sleepy fishing village with no thoroughfare to cause traffic noises. The actual campsite is right on the beachfront so when you wake up in the morning you can look out to the sea.
The toilet blocks are always cleaned regularly and the showers are available as much as you want as long as you have enough shower cards with you , more are available from the site shop. Bernard and Jane the owners take very good care of the site itself , emptying bins , cutting the grass etc.
There are camping areas , touring areas , statics and elctric hook ups .
The site shop is small but holds most items you would need for a family beach holiday, otherwise there is Portsoy 4 miles East , Cullen 6 miles West and Banff ( with the infamous spotty bag shop, an wonderful emporium that has everything from lighters to socks and wet suits) is 12 miles East.
I will be going up again in July 09 so looking forward to seeing where the burn is running down the beach this year !
Lovely friendly site , highly recommended.

Just spent a delightful two weeks at this great site, its super clean and well kept with friendly owners who pay attention to the details that make for a truly great site.
The village of Sandend wont appeal to everyone, apart from the small on site shop there is no shopping or pubs in Sandend, the beach on the other hand is amazing.
I am a little confused about mouse32's remarks about the showers, the showers are card operated and do in fact give you four minutes, but there is nothing stopping you using more than one card, or going back for a second third or fourth hot shower, cards cost 20p from the site shop and they'll sell you 100 if you want.
So 10/10 For Sandend caravan park.I'll be back!

Lovely site, right on the edge of the beach, a great place for surfing, and for the kids to play. Quiet and peaceful. Site shop was well stocked and most things we needed. Shower block very clean and well kept. Big complaint about the shower rationing though. Only allowed 4 minutes per person per day in the shower! Unless you like cold ones. A bit mean when your on your holidays.
