Lovely site ! nice and clean, toilet block and separate shower block spotless. MUCH better than staying on a local farm, water tanks fill up within seconds not like farms were your stood out in the rain for half hour.
Wouldnt advise this site for wandering toddlers as the site drops off down into the lake. Unless you keep your kids on a lead.
One thing I thought little expensive per night !
Apart from that your right in the heart of it, across the road to the pier and beach, 5 mins to town, 5 mins to Pleasureland.
Please bear in mind at the top of the site, slight incline it can get very windy with the wind off the beach, wouldn't advise putting a awning up at the top. We have a twin axle caravan and one night ! The wind was rocking the van.
Taking your dogs ! Can recommend the MASONS ARMS Anchor St just off Lord St, Southport. Let dogs in, REAL ALE, REAL FIRES, Friendly folk

Visited Waterside Lodge CS site this weekend and found that is very well situated for visiting all the amenities that the lovely town of Southport has to offer (in my opinion is far better then Blackpool) less hassle and definitely shopper friendlier. The site although small it does accept about 10 motorhomes/caravans, basic facilities are well catered for ie. Electric hook up/water points and chemical toilet emptying point, a very well kept and clean toilets facilities are available plus a shower unit. All in all a well kept little site, the only criticism I would add is the charge of £17 a night and having to pay £1 for the shower.

Just had a weekend at Waterside lodge. The pitches are on grass during the summer and they allowed us to put our awning up. This is a camping and caravanning club CS so members only. It is an ideal location for the centre of Southport and cheap @ £12 a night all year! Some of the pitches are far away from the hook up so we had to borrow an extension lead from the wardens which they kindly lent us. The site now has spaces for 10 vans and it didn't feel cramped. There are no showers or toilets but this didn't bother us as we use our own.
The only negative is at night there is noise from the road and the KFC carpark is used as a meeting point for the teenagers in their fast cars, the Mcdonalds is open 24hrs Fri & Sat and seems to be a social meeting point, however, they seemed to go quiet at midnight and it didn't affect our weekend.
We would definitely be staying there again as itds an ideal base for Southport.

Stayed here mid November, the cl site is in the centre of Southport 200yds from the pier. It is based in the Scout premises. Most of the parking is to one side of the scout premises in the carpark with a couple of pitches on grass. Ideal being on the carpark itself, so no mud to trail into the unit. Obviously you cant put an awning up. This is a basic site just fresh water. Grey waste disposal and a chemical disposal point but they have electric. There is slight road noise from the coast road but the location of the site more than makes up for that. Two minutes and you're on the pier close to KFC, MC'DS, Pizza Hut etc. Five minute walk and you are in town centre. We shall definitely use this site again. It is open all year.
