I think I can fairly describe this site as one with lots of potential, and the new owners are certainly working hard to attain it's full potential. I was met outside reception by the owner as soon as I stepped out of my car and warmly greeted with a smile before quickly being booked in and taken to my pitch. Being on my own in a caravan the assistance in getting the caravan sited was very welcome. The refurbished heated toilet block is first class. Exceptionally clean and modern with private wash cubicles, shaver points, and lights above the mirrors which actually worked. Good sized shower rooms with a 'dry area' for clothing, shoes etc. Hooks on the toilet cubicle doors for hanging coats. Full toilet paper dispensers of the type where the end of the roll doesn't 'disappear'. At the time of my visit liquid hand soap in bottles was provided. I wonder how many will disappear into campers' wash bags before the owners decide to use proper dispensers screwed to the wall! Cloths for wiping down the area around the sinks after use were also provided. In fact I couldn't fault the facilities at all. The site itself is still under some unobtrusive reconstruction with level gravel hard standings and grassed areas being created. My one concern in this respect is that many of the caravan hardstandings are lined up along the verges on either side of the driveway which runs through the site from the gate. Caravans are reversed onto them so that they are facing each other across the driveway rather than facing out into the fields. The view therefore, from the seating/dining area of a caravan is the caravan opposite, which rather gave the feeling of being camped in a caravan storage depot. There is not a lot of space between the caravans either, so if you have a caravan and awning that just about fills the pitch. Further into the site the verges are wider and grassed, giving a more open feel. There are plenty of water points and electric hook-up stations close to the pitches, some of the pitches being fully serviced. Behind the rows of caravans are open fields for tents and these appeared to be very pleasant with an open aspect, although there were few tents in them during my visit. Judging by the numbers of white posts which seemed to indicate the pitches, I fear the tents could be pretty close as well but this remains to be seen once the site is completed. There is also a nice play area for children. At the time of my visit the shop was still to be completed and stocked but I believe this will become a very nice and popular site. It is in a prime location for anyone wishing to drive the short distance to Poole, Bournemouth, and the Isle of Purbeck (Swanage, Corfe, Studland, etc.) but for my personal requirements I quickly became bored since there is nothing of great interest within walking distance. Except the local pub (10 minutes walk). This pub, 'St. Peters Finger' is set out mainly as a restaurant and is therefore totally non-smoking. This will please many and irritate many more! All in all a nice touring site which I am sure will be worthy of some good reviews.

We spent 5 nights here - wow what a great campsite, lots of room for the children to play safely. Clean and hot showers and toilets (even a hairdryer) what more could you ask for. We stayed in the bottom field and had 2 pitches, 1 for the tent and the other for the gazebo and an electric hook up. Plenty of room and you don't feel crammed in. The takeaway breakfast was wonderful, cheap and tasty. The shop on the site has everything you could need and is not overpriced. There was a craft shop just around the corner from the site which is a nice place to take the children to see a few animals and have lunch. You are not far from Poole Town centre and all the beaches. The weather when we stayed was very unpredictable we had heavy downpours of rain, thunder and lightening. This did not cause us any problems at all - no flooding. The owners are friendly, helpful and polite. When we arrived there was no power due to some work taking place by some builders who had to turn the electricity off. The owner came and advised us straight away of the situation and then came back to let us know when the power was back on. All in all a wonderful time was had by us all and we will certainly be returning to this site again.

We have used this site before and never fail to enjoy our stay. It is huge with some lovely wooded areas. The site shop is fantastic selling fresh and frozen food and alcohol - not forgetting the sweets! So nice not having to find a supermarket for shopping. They also have a breakfast van for those cold drizzly mornings when lighting a camping stove is too much like hard work. Plus there is also a great pub within walking distance that does excellent food. The only let down is that the showers and toilet blocks are so old. There are plenty of them and we had hot water but they are quite basic. Don't let it put you off though as it is a great site with plenty of good beaches and activities nearby.

A good site with very helpful and friendly owners. A mix up in my booking (entirely caused by me!) was handled with grace and good humour. Though the site was full the amenities seemed to cope well with the additional strain. I did not have to queue for any of the facilities. We were assigned a pitch (no. 140) in a corner of the site. It meant that we were not on the short cut to any other part of the site. Though the site was very busy, but I found may stay to be very peaceful and relaxing. I shall definitely return.

This was our first stay at this site and we really enjoyed. The owners are so friendly and helpful which more than makes up for any minor grumbles others may have about the shower block. The breakfast take-away is excellent quality and value-for-money. We'll definitely be going back.

The camp-site owners are very helpful and welcoming and the site itself is lovely. We were in a group of 5 tents and we had a lovely self-contained area at the end of the far field.beware of deep hidden rabbit holes! The only snags were the toilet facilities at this end which were clean but dated and had no showers and the noise from the road which was very loud as motorbikes seemed to race up and down. A few planes flew overhead quite low but were not as bothersome as the continuous road noise. All in all though we had a good time but take ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.

September 2005 Reasonable site with friendly staff. We were late arriving, but a call to the owners meant that even though we arrived at 9:15pm, they were waiting for us. Pitching the tent in the dark was another matter, and we ended up with lots of very hard lumps under the groundsheet. As we were only staying for two nights I decided not to move the tent. The moles that have been mentioned in other reveiews were evident, but not a problem for us. On the plus side, there were lots of electric hookups and water was less than 10 metres away.
Facilities on-site were adequate, but in need of updating, other reviews mention some problem with the lease but I don't know if this is still an issue. The owners are aware of this website and the comments that get raised here, so it does surprise me that more effort isn't made in the general upkeep of the facilities in the top field. I'm sure that cobwebs can be removed under the terms of the lease.
Our main concern was the level of noise - not generated by other campers, or even on-site, but from aircraft (we thought one airliner was going to land in our field in the early hours of Sunday morning, it was that loud!), motor bikes and cars (both of which seem to get louder as it gets darker), and on Saturday night we could hear something that could have been a disco not too far away. This combined with the cockerels that started their song from 2am meant that we didn't get much sleep under canvas. We were happy to go home.
We like the area (our 2nd visit this year), but don't think we'll be going back to this campsite.

May 2005 We were made very welcome on arrival, and were given directions to our pitch. The grass was desperately in need of cutting - it had been raining,so we spent all of our time with trousers rolled up or wet to the knees.
The toilet and shower blocks were clean but very cob-webby and stark. No facilities to plug in your own equipment although hairdryer supplied, with a queue of ladies waiting for it.
The site was very well patrolled by the staff, although after dark was rather too regimented. We chatted to neighbouring campers regularly - taking in their towels, chairs etc when it rained, lending our air pump etc. A very friendly atmosphere. Our children wanted to play ball after dark, and were courteous enough to ask these people if they had a problem with it, and we were visited by 2 campers telling us they were impressed by the politeness of the children. However, we were visited by one of the staff after dark asking us to ensure our children were quiet. A rule that we totally agree with but we were told that the other campers were too intimidated by us to tell us they had a problem.

May 2005 What a fantastic relaxing break I've just had at this site. The staff are friendly and inviting and are most helpful with every enquiry I had. The site caters for caravans motor homes and tents. It has clean toilets and showers and even a laundry room. And I can highly recommend the breakfast bar.. yummy bacon baps!
It has an onsite shop with every essential item needed for camping, even down to hobnobs! The games room has pool and football tables and a tv to keep you amused. Poole centre is very close and the beaches are always welcoming. I shall be returning to this site soon and telling my friends aboout it too.

July 2004 Excellent location with a warm, friendly and helpful reception. Very good sized pitches and the breakfast bar is a very good facility for those who do not want to cook!
We found the site to be in need of a major update and the proprietor echoed our thoughts. There appears to be ongoing negotiations regarding a new lease so it is understandable that no work will be carried out until the new lease is signed.
With only a 4 amp electrical supply we could not run our air conditioning - a problem not previously encountered even in France
