We stayed here as a group over an August weekend. It is a lovely site for kids with plenty of open space to play and trees to climb! Plenty of space around pitches so you could have privacy too.
Ranger Steve was fantastic - he seemed to be here, there and everywhere, always being helpful and friendly. I would give the site 10/10 for customer service based on him alone!
The only slight negative is that the toilet facilities really need to be cleaned a bit more frequently. Bins were constantly overflowing and toilet paper running out! However, I would still definitely recommend the site and hope to return.

Spent a week here at the end of May with our neighbours and a total of 5 kids.
The check in was quick and efficient, and we were given free choice on where to pitch up, with no restrictions on gazebos and pup-tents for the kids. We had our own fire pit so took advantage of their ample supply of logs. The kids made full use of the 240v sockets in the club house to charge their games and phones, and the site itself was well kept and tidy.
Shower and toilets were clean and never seemed busy, even though there were a dozen or so families on site most of the week. I can imagine these would get busy at peak times though. We also had to walk across the muddy vehicle tracks to get from the tents to the showers, but this wouldn't be as much as a problem in dryer weeks - we had some overnight rain, but nothing too torrential, and the rest of the ground cleared/drained quickly.
Loads of facilities and activities for kids, and at reasonable prices. And the shops are a 2-3 minute drive away, or a 10 minute walk.
It's a lovely site if you do not need an EHU, and well located for the south coast and New Forest, without the premium price, with the added bonus of permitting campfires - as long as they are off the ground.

We spent the half term week here with another family 4 adults and five kids between us. The site is beautiful large and flat and surrounded by woods.
Between us we had four tents and a gazebo, so we needed quiet a large plot and had no trouble finding space, the site had several other families dotted around the field, but we didn't feel squashed at all.
Our children did approximately two activities per day and they loved it, they all really loved their time there and they were kept busy most of the time and when they weren't doing anything they disappeared off in the woods or tree climbing
The weather was a little hit and miss but didn't stop any of the fun and the club house was great for a warm up if things got a bit cold.
They have a large block of modern showers and wc's they were always available but the floors do get a but muddy and needs to be hosed down a bit more regularly, but this really is a minor gripe. If id been and had a look around before booking I couldn't have picked a better site than here.
The staff also are great, the instructors are really good and very patient even with giddy children and the site staff are helpful and friendly.
We will definitely be back, this is one to book if you have children who like to be busy and doing things!
Five stars *****

We visited Fairthorne Manor for their Birthday weekend of the 2nd to 5th May 2014. We had the option of using one of their tents, already put up, so opted for this and left ours at home. The ground was plush and soft if a bit undulating but the tent was good and level. Checking in was awesomely easy, a deposit of £5 for a swipe card to open the gate when shut was very worthwhile too. The facilities were well presented and very clean too, the clubhouse, friendly and accommodating. The list of activities was also very good for the near teenage daughter. All of the staff were helpful, cheerful, and courteous. There is enough to roam around and explore, or take advantage of the range of events set up. The clubhouse even has an array of games the tenants can borrow. Well cooked food was available in the clubhouse, and alcohol and soft drinks and snacks.
We have already booked for the big family get together in August and looking at holding an MCC event in July. Overall we were very impressed

This site is set in beautiful grounds with good, clean facilities. Staff are very helpful and friendly. You can hire a BBQ or Firepit which will be delivered to your pitch. You can even join in a sing song and roast marshmallows round the campfire on Saturday nights! This site is a very safe environment for children and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Very Nice site in a lovely location easy reach of New Forest, Southampton and Portsmouth.
Good facilities but could be better, especially if the site is fully booked only 3 showers for the whole site and not cleaned as much as I would have liked. Nice that you can pick your own spot on arrival and group together if wanted, however this can be a negative when a large group (8+ tents/campers) park on your doorstep !
Manager was great and kids loved the campfire over the weekend, lots of space to run around and walks to take. Added bonus are the activities you can book, Kayaking was great fun.

This is a brilliant campsite!
I have stayed on this site 4 or 5 times now, and I am fairly certain that I will be back there again soon.
The facilities are really good, the shower/toilet block was always ok to use and the showers were surprisingly good.
There are plenty of things to do there such as the outdoor games equipment or the scavenger hunts, but there are also more adventurous activities available at a small cost. These include kayaking, canoeing, climbing and abseiling!
You can go to the bar in the evenings where it is always friendly, and there are games there for all the family including Steve's infamous Story Cubes!
I will definitely recommend this place to family and friends and I am sure I will be back there soon!

The site is level, there is lots of space, even when it is full and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Facilities are clean and well-kept without being intrusive. Being able to have a camp fire is great and you don't even need to take your own wood. Staff are friendly and polite. There are footpaths in the area for those who like to walk and activities available for the more adventurous, so something for everyone.

Had a great weekend at this brilliant site. Was wary of YMCA, camp where you like, kind of campsites but we will definitely be back - despite a couple of niggly things.
Site is huge with masses of space for everyone - they take 60 'pitch' booking but explained that a 'pitch' could contain 2 or 3 small tents. There are no fixed pitches as there is no EHU so go where you like.
We turned up at 1pm on a Friday, first people there, and pitched out tent. There was a big group of 30 tents pre-booked we were told when we set up but with 6 acres of fields there was obviously more than enough space for them to be on their group away from others. WRONG! For some obscure reason the idiots started pitching all around is and we became part of their encampment, totally surrounded and endured their kids (and adults!) continually running though our little area, snagging our guylines, even stepping over our firepit!
The loos and showers were fine but as peole have said before they need a little more regular cleaning - especially in the evening.
The wardens came round 3 times on the first night - never seen that before - but not again afterwards.
Great that you can pack up anytime you like on a Sunday, no need to be out by 12 like most sites.
Great lake with Kayaking, handy little clubhouse, lovely firepits and BBQ's you can rent.
All in all we have a great time, great site, just spoiled by the lovely group booking who had ZERO respect for anyone else and camping on top of us leaving 2/3 of the site totally empty!

This is a fantastic site!
We visited in June as a group of 7 families with 17 children. The were very happy to welcome us as a group and the group camping area (set apart from individual area) afforded plenty of space.
It really is traditional camping at its best with a lovely relaxed feel. Whilst there is no playground the children had a fantastic time running around, exploring the woods, stream and long grass and playing ball games.
There is a car park at the top of the site to leave cars once you are pitched so it is nice not to have to worry too much about cars driving around the site.
The group campfire area is great for toasting marshmallows and everyone enjoyed the campfire songs put on by Steve from the site on the Saturday night.
We also hired a fire pit, which was lovely for the adults to sit round after kids had gone to bed, especially welcome as the weather wasn't very good!
The children participated in some of the on site activities- the zip wire and den building were a big hit and staff, Marcel especially, were great with the children.
We did order food to takeaway from the bar, I think they were slightly overwhelmed with all of us ordering (although we did order in advance) and there was some confusion as the orders came out, but the food was good and prices were very reasonable, 60p for a hot mug of tea or coffee was very much appreciated as the wind and rain picked up on Saturday afternoon!
The facilities were good and the showers clean and warm, only comment would be that they could do with checking toilet roll a bit more often as a few of the toilets ran out, but it was sorted out.
The Horse and Jockey just down the road in Curdridge is a lovely pub, the landlady was happy to accommodate 30 of us at short notice for Sunday lunch and the food and service were very good.
Other than lunch in the pub on our way home we didn't leave the site as there was plenty to keep everyone entertained the whose time despite the weather.
We will definitely be back, hopefully later this year!
