The site is set up a hillside above Watermouth cove between Ilfracombe and Combe Martin. The pitches are in terraces which give spectacular views of the North Devon coast.
Facilities at the site include hot showers, washing up sinks with a superb view, washing machine, and freezer for ice blocks. There is a shop at the reception which stocks a few basics items only - although we were off season so this may improve as the site gets busier. Also has wifi and a phone box - the mobile coverage for all networks is very poor if not non existent!
There's a dog walking area and a children's play area. The majority of the pitches have access to EHU.
A few minutes walk down a private footpath will take you to Watermouth harbour and castle (theme park) and a further 15 minutes walk will deliver you to the Sawmill pub - a friendly family pub serving decent beers and meals. Of course if your up for more of a walk the South West Coastal path passes right by the site which will take you to Combe Martin to the north and Ilfracombe to the south
The site is extremely well maintained with clean facilities. It has a chilled out feel to it with recycling encouraged. The owners are very helpful and friendly.
The pitches are a very generous size with plenty of room to get your car and caravan/large tent side by side. Although we stayed off season at Easter 2013 with only another dozen or so occupants, I would imagine the site would not particularly feel over crowded when at its full capacity of 50 pitches helped by the large pitches and terraced layout.
Only downsides to the site are that it can get pretty draughty due to its hillside location and also there's not a great deal within easy walking distance apart from what's mentioned above. It's also quite pricey but I guess your paying for the views.
All in all a lovely site which has superb views. This is not a commercial site with lots of hustle and bustle but instead has relaxed and friendly feel - definitely worth a visit!

We just spent a week at Little Meadow. We were pitched in the non hook up field - the only view we had was of the tents pitched to the side of us but I'm sure the people on the tiered pitches did have a great view.
The toilets were a bit disappointing; there are no doors at the entrance to the block so every morning you are greeted by a multitude of insect corpses that have blown in during the night. The owners do come in and clean regularly though. I was also not keen on the concrete floors in the showers.
There is a play area on site but this was quite far from where we were pitched. It is quite a steep site and to get to the play area you go down a steep gravelly slope that the cars drive up. My son fell over on this and cut himself quite badly in several places so warn your kids not to run!
We went to Morthoe where there is access to a lovely beach and parking is a lot less than Woolacombe. Be prepared to walk a bit though.
We found the site very peaceful and the children all played together. I would say it is best suited to those with younger children. There is a curfew where children must be back at their pitch by 9pm - this is a good idea although the signs asking for quiet made us feel a bit noisy with 2 young boys!
There are several campsites in this area which cost a lot less than Little Meadow but I can't comment as to how they might compare.
There are several National Trust properties in the area which are good for rainy days and some lovely scenic walks too.
Not sure if we would go back as never use ehu so as the view is restricted from that field would rather pay less and go without the 'view'.

We used these site on a recommendation from a friend of a friend for our first full week camping - me, hubby 5 & a 2 year old
Nice site with lovely views, but not walkable to anywhere with a 2 year old - on a very busy road and no paths. Was a quiet site which suited us
We weren't on one of the lovely tiered pitches which may have given us more resistance from the awful weather but we were close to the play area which helped us
Shower block was ok - main door was never shut so showers could be chilly experiances as well as short - I think I'd rather pay & have a 'full' shower
The local pub was nice but did get busy
Ilfracombe was ok but no real beach we drove further tp get to one at Woolacombe but the parking was expensive at all of them
Would recommend a visit to Big Sheep - cash in your tesco voucher to pay for it though!
Nice site but don't think we would return

This is the second time we have been to this area but the first time on this site. We arrived after all the rain so the field was very muddy, to be expected.
The pitches are huge and have fantastic views of the sea, I think that this is what you pay for as not a cheap site.
The showers were a push button style which stayed on for a very short time, and there was no hand drier in the toilets, but they were kept as clean as could be given the mud outside.
The nearby pub is great and the walk into Combe Martin has wonderful views. Groceries can be bought from Ilfracombe which is only minutes away.
Love the place but possibly wouldn't return to the site even though the views were fantastic.

Massive pitch - helpful/friendly staff - immaculate toilet / washing facilities - lovely coastal area across the road - views of sunset to die for - very dog friendly - easy going - needless to say, we have re-booked !
We were unfortunately opposite a family who were ruled by their whingy four year old and seemed incapable of telling the little brat to shut up, (you know who you are !) but this was not the campsites fault and neither this, nor the adverse poor weather conditions spoilt our experience.
We spent the first week of a 2 week break here before moving onto Cornwall, and we wish we had stayed for the full 2 weeks at this site instead !
The area opposite, with boats and all things nautical, is fantastic for walks and taking in the area. Ilfracombe itself is a little 'after-the-fact' but has a certain kitschy appeal.
Make sure that you check out the rather commercial chip shop on the front in Ilfracombe, which is surprisingly good. There is also Damien Hirsts place for all you culture vultures !
But it is the campsite itself where you will long to return to after a days adventures and sightseeing. We are looking forward to a low season, slightly better weather, revisit !

We stayed 1 night in our tent. We arrived late but were welcomed and shown to our pitch which was near the children's play area where we had amazing sea views!
After putting the tent up we walked to the pub (10 mins) where we had a lovely, reasonable meal and were delighted that they let us take our dog into the restaurant.
On our way back we walked to the harbour which is over the road from the site. The dog walk on the site was large and the toilet/shower block was spotless.
The llamas in the field next door were nice to see too. The site was quiet and relaxing.
All in all our stay here was great and we will go back.

So we picked the Campsite as it said 'only well behaved children and dogs welcome', and true to the description the site was wonderfully tranquil.
Sian and Nick we really helpful on arrival Nick even towed our van up the steep hill with his truck to save our car, a brilliant couple always happy to help or be informative about the area.
The site is wonderfully clean pitches, toilets everything was spotless. Although we had 2 neighbours each side we were not on top of each other or overcrowded I don't think even Caravan Club sites give as much room.
The views are breathtaking in particular when washing up. Linda is a star and very helpful in the shop - which is actually quite well stocked for very basics.
If I am honest the only disappointment was the wireless wasn't good at all which was a bit of a nuisance and one criteria which we chose the site on, oh and mobile phone fanatics be aware signal for Vodaphone is not great and 02 non - existent.
Coombe Martin is delightful we had a fabulous lunch at The Pack of Cards, and on another trip there used the Galleon tea room wish is easily missed above a trinket shop but fab for lunch or just a 'pit stop'.
Give Ilfracombe a wide berth the main town is very down at heel and although the harbour is quite nice the rest of the town needs 'seriously dealing with it was just rough'.
Woolacombe is nice with a lovely beach that even dogs are allowed on one end, the only drawback is getting in the massive queues were offputting.
All in all a fabulous week despite some very bad weather on a couple of days. As a family who never leave the car behind; a small tip use the buses, the drivers were wonderfully helpful and the cost is minimal compared to the fuel and parking charges and a bit of an adventure that added to the relaxation

Stayed here in May for two nights, we were lucky with beautiful weather and no wind, pitched on one of the tiered pitches with an amazing sea view, one of the best views ever!
The site is quiet but has a small reception that sells milk and other basics (Bacon / bread etc) The toilets block is modern and was also clean during our visit. Our son was only 12 months old and the baby baths that are in the shower block were very useful.
This site os perfect for those wanting to chill out and relax with the views.

We spent 10 nights here last September and had slightly mixed feelings about the site.
Although the site is on quite a steep hill, the pitches are all on terraces so are nice and level.
When we arrived we told the lady in the shop that we had heard that the weather was forecast to be extremely windy, but we were told that they didn't pay much attention to the forecast as being near Exmoor they tended to get very localised weather. We were then given a pitch at the very top of the site which didn't have any protection from the wind as there were no terraces behind us.
When the wind did hit it was actually very unpleasant and we took a real battering. Whilst we were there they actually stopped putting any tents up at the top due to the wind. Obviously I can't hold the campsite responsible for the weather, but it would have been nice if they'd given us a more sheltered pitch when we arrived.
However despite the weather we did have a lovely time. All the pitches have a sea view and there is plenty of space between pitches so even if the site was full I don't imagine that it would have felt crowded. The view from the washing up area is fantastic - washing up was not a chore at all.
The toilet block was lovely and clean and the showers had plenty of room to take both of my children in with me. My only niggles would be that the floor was very very cold on the feet in the shower and the lights were on a movement sensor in the main area so that on one occasion while in the shower with both kids we were plunged in to complete darkness and I had to fumble my way out and do a quick naked dance around the room to get the lights back on!
I didn't use the on site shop but it seemed to stock the basics and there was a freezer available to freeze ice packs for free.
There was a playground area for the kids, but there wasn't much to keep them interested, but with plenty of room around the pitches they had more fun just playing around the tent.
The site is right next door to Watermouth Castle, a very eclectic place which our kids loved, and once paid to get in could return again for a nominal charge so we ended up going three times so was very good value for money. There is a footpath to it direct from the site but during our stay it was too muddy to use so we actually ended up just driving round the corner to it.
One plus side to the wind was that the waves crashing on to Ilfracombe harbour wall were spectacular - great free entertainment.
Woolacombe beach was a short drive away and is a beautiful beach.
And a bit further in the other direction a trip to Lynton was a lovely day out with a ride on the cliff railway. We also found a nice little model railway there which was free entry.
I think we probably just a bit unlucky with the weather which tainted our view a little bit but we probably will return again at some point and hopefully keep our fingers crossed for better weather!

Stayed for 3 nights towards end of the month. Arrived in torrential rain and the owner Nick very helpfully towed our van to the pitch up steep bank.
Beautiful site with fantastic views and large pitches. Small shop, good toilets, recycling and washing up facilities.
Fairly easy walk to local pub and small harbour.
Very welcoming site owners, and understanding when we had to leave early due to our dog being very ill. Definitely return in the future, just perfect!
Do take note and approach via Ilfracombe rather than Combe Martin.
