A lovely site and well maintained I especially liked the privacy rooms/showers which are thankfully non-smoking. My only gripe is the person that designed the Motorhome waste disposal( opposite the office) doesn't have a motorhome it has a wall round it which made it virtually impossible to get close enough to use it and if someone parked in the area which happened some days because his wife was disabled and its next to the bathrooms then its not usable at all. It is also excessively expensive to use the washing machines so only if you really must.

Would regard this site as a first class premier site with with 4* toilet/showers to match and as others have said very spacious pitches however this comes with a price £22/night for two mid Nov. But that's on a fully serviced pitch and would not detract me from returning again. The Premier Inn across the road does a meal deal until 6-30 pm for £4-99 and has some real ales also. The bus stop outside the campsite entrance is for Falmouth only or a drop off from Truro. For Truro itself you need to walk to the village to pick up the frequent bus service(about 10 min. Walk). Nice and quiet site only the Tawny Owl keeping us awake.

What can I say about Carnon Downs? it is one of my favourite five sites in the whole of the U. K.
We stopped for two nights in late October (half term) must have been the worst two days of the summer??.
Staff friendly and helpful as always, got upgraded to a serviced pitch (not that we needed it)because one shower block out of action.
Can't praise the facilities highly enough, always warm, no silly push button showers, nice big shower SUITES.
The pub across the roundabout, although a Travel Lodge? is very good for a pint and the food is good and reasonably priced.
Bus stop outside the gate for those of us lucky(unlucky) enough to have a bus pass,
So if your touring in the area give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

What a lovely, spacious, hidden site. We were surprised how much room we had on our pitch, we took our single axle caravan, speed boat and two cars.
Very clean and warm toilet/shower block, friendly on site wardens, lovely open playground in amongst sand and a large football pitch with dog walking areas beyond. No shop/bar/entertainment or pool here but that's why we like it.
We were very lucky with the weather, had some lovely days out on beach at St Mawes, took kayaks n dingy with us. Took speedboat down to Loe Beach, where there is a small slip (ok when tide is in or out if you have 4x4).
We went out in boat one evening and followed river up to Malpass, moored alongside (no warden patrol at time) and went for a lovely meal at the pub. One wet day, we took kids to ships n castles leisure centre in Falmouth, they loved it! National Maritime Museum not far and a great visit.
Will definitely be going back to this site! Its one of our favourites.

We stayed here for a couple of months in the winter and found the site excellent. Modern shower block with plenty of hot water.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Pitches spacious and not crammed in. Would definitely recommend this site. We used it as a central base for touring Cornwall.
Site was always well maintained. Very good dog walk. 5mins drive to Truro city centre.

The best uk site we have stayed at (and we have stayed at a lot!)
First stayed here about 8 years ago it was very very good then, hence our return. On this visit our very large serviced pitch even had a picnic bench! The facilities block was immaculate as indeed is the site. We were given a pack that contained a map together with some suggested walks from the site, very well detailed (we did the one to Devoran). Very friendly, helpful staff. A board outside reception informs you of some local events. The children's play area and football field is set away from the pitches and children are not allowed to ride bicycles etc around the park in the interests of safety. Lovely garden centre across the road from site and a pub that serves food.

We only stayed 2 nights as we had driven to Cornwall to bring my Mother back from her annual months stay. What a fantastic site, hot showers, huge pitches, it rained all the time we were there but what the heck.
Bus stop at entrance so off we went into Truro., pub across the raod. We will definitely be back next year and for longer.Staff very friendly. Good washing up areas and freezers available. Site was was well laid out and cared for.
Plenty of rubbish bins etc. We had the option of a welcome pack which gave all local information, walks, cycle routes etc. And money off vouchers which would be very handy for families.

If you are looking for a first class site in the Falmouth/Truro area then stop here. Excellent facilities, well laid out, friendly staff. We only stayed 4 nights but wished it had been longer. Excellent toilet/shower blocks, very clean. The pitches are very well maintained and large so you never feel squashed in. A site we will certainly be coming back to.

Carnon Downs is an excellent campsite, the new toilet blocks are high quality and the best I've seen on any campsite - individual shower rooms/toilets with plenty of room to move about in.
There are lots of different areas to camp in, we were at the top of the field near the dog walk which was a couple of minutes walk to the toilets/showers.
There is an empty field to walk dogs in and a walk round the back of the camping fields, and plenty of walks off site for dogs.
There is a play field next to the showers and a games room, though this is a nice quiet site. The main Truro-Falmouth road runs past the site and though there IS some road noise this was never intrusive - perhaps if on a pitch next to the road it would be.
The site is nicely positioned for exploring Cornwall, if you like gardens try Trebah Gardens - dogs allowed, lots of interesting plants and a beach at the bottom of the hill.
I would definitely recommend Carnon Downs and look forward to returning there in future, it is a big site with large pitches but not too noisy/busy.

We stayed at Carnon Downs for 2 nights, it is a lovely campsite. The facilities are fantastic, with lots of toilets and showers all very clean even in busy times. The showers are better than some I have been in, in some hotels. They can be busy at peak times but the most we waited was 5 minutes. My only comment would be that more hairdryers would be handy (there were 2).
There is a big sainsbury's up the road and a small tesco's so getting shopping was really easy.
This is a great campsite to see what Cornwall has to offer as it is really central to all things.
There is also a reasonable pub 5 mins walk across the main road which is really handy.
