Well, this was certainly an experience and I am so glad that I read the reviews here so my expectations were set well in advance.
The site is in a beautiful location, and very easy to find off the main Southampton-Bournemouth road.
It suited us perfectly as no-where else would take bookings for one night only, and this is all we needed.
But, what the reviews say here about the facilities are spot on - and they are fine as long as this is what you know you will face - it's like camping in the old days! It was stomach turning to see the mop being used to clean the toilet block - had it been used to clean out the livestock first?
I felt sorry for the couple who were put into a field separate from the 2 main camping fields and who were woken up by curious sheep.
None of the nearby pubs are particularly local - unless you have a lot of time I'd recommend taking wheels of some sort.
I'd be interested to see how this site passes all the very strict planning regulations in place for campsites.
All of the above (particularly the hygiene implications) put us off trying the breakfast on offer, or returning for a cream tea which were both on offer.
In summary - ideal location, shame about the rest, but if you go expecting it you'll probably have a nice time.

I also have to disagree with some of the comments that have been posted about this campsite. When you arrive the sign outside says 'basic campsite'. And the facilities are indeed basic. What more can you expect for 7 quid in this part of the world? Incidentally we didn't have to queue for the loo or showers once, and we stayed on a Saturday night when the site was pretty full.
We stayed for one night and thought the location was fantastic. It was really easy to find walks - just leave the site, go in any direction for a couple of minutes and you're in the middle of the forest. The location was complimented by a woman in the neighbouring tent also.
I would recommend this site to those who enjoy being close to the elements and don't mind roughing it. Those who need to bring the kitchen sink with them are best looking elsewhere.

I have to disagree with most of the other reviews we have never found the owners to be rude or offencive. Annie and Bob have always made our family (2 young children and a dog) very welcome. We return many times through the year and while the toilets are basic believe me I have seen a lot worse! with fantastic safe walking, cooked breakfast and cream teas on the doorstep how can people really complain? This is what 'real camping' is.

May 2005 This site is in a great location in one of the most beautiful parts of the forest and the owners were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, it looked as though the cows had only been moved out the day before and the fields were full of cow pats, to the point where it was like walking through a minefield and it was hard to find a big enough poo-free area for our tent. The grass was very long, too, which made it difficult to suss out a reasonably level spot. It was also a bit of a haven for midges as there is a stream at the edge of the adjacent fields.
The biggest drawback was the showers and toilets though. There were only 2 toilets and one shower (no separate facilities for men and women) and being a bank holiday weekend there were horrendous queues. At midday, there seemed to be only tepid water, which is a bit of a bummer when you've just parted with 50p for a shower. They were also pretty grubby and although at first I put this down to the sheer numbers using them it soon became clear that they were never very clean (ancient cobwebs in the shower and some very dubious marks on the toilet walls).
Great site if you don't mind roughing it though, and if they ever refurbish the showers etc it would be really good.

july2004 Couldn't find any space at any other campsite remotely near the New Forest as the weather forecast was good. Found space here, £5 for the night. Excellent breakfast in the Farmhouse for £4.50. A basic site, (1 shower, 50p) but very friendly.
