We stayed for 2 nights in the lovely little tent field. We felt v sorry for the caravanners who seemed to have no grassy areas to speak of.
The site was lovely and clean and pretty convenient for Edinburgh city centre. The local bus service was cheap and easy to use.
The only draw-back to the campsite was NO PLUG SOCKETS in the toilets. My hair was a nightmare without straighteners!
In the area: I would recommend Portobello beach and the chippy on the main road, parallel to the beach. Yummy fish!

Superb tidy well run site with usual odd Caravan Club rules but very convenient for Edinburgh city. Bus 10 min walk away £3. 50 day rider ticket gets you anywhere you want to go. In the information office, found it rather odd that that there were no leaflets available on Edinburgh Castle, being the most noticeable landmark in the city !

Not your typical CC site. Its set up to get lots of people into the great city of Edinburgh and it does a great job. Ok so it a large grassy car park but its run well and is spotless. The foreign guests can cause some confusion with random parking. Use the shuttle bus you skin flints! its so easy and drops you of right in the centre. Big super market close and a long cycle trail and dog walk nearby.
We've used this site before and love it. The staff leave you alone to enjoy your stay. Often busy. If not full. As fred used to say' Book early'

This was our first visit to this site mainly to visit friends. It's a large well laid out site with a tent area and an on site dog walk. Facilities are typical of all Caravan Club sites. Wardens were friendly and helpful. Pitches were of a good size and flat. There is a small children's play area.
Site is adjacent to the Firth of Forth with lovely walks either on the beach when the tide is out or on the walkway. There is a cafe along the walkway that sells lovely cakes.
This site is ideal for getting to see the sites of Edinburgh and a bus from the reception takes you right in to the centre. This is something we will look at doing on our next visit. Highly recommended.

This is the first Caravan Club Site we've stayed on. We are used to Australian sites so it was a bit different for us, with reasonable sized sites, lots of rules, not sure of the logic of the rule for having the van in a certain position relative to the site marker, unless it's safety. Speedy evacuation. Which is probably more relevant in Australia where we have bush fires! It cannot be faulted for facilities, and we were there for a specific purpose, not the (non existent) view, and we did find the noise of the planes annoying at first but didn't notice it after a while.
We stayed two nights and would stay again if we had reason to be in Edinburgh.

This is a large and very well maintained site on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Facilities are of an excellent standard and there is a regular shuttle bus into the city for a reasonable charge.
The main attraction of this site is its location, being the closest to Edinburgh. It is about 15 minutes driving to the centre.
Brilliant site.

Went to this site for the tatoo. Great site. Showers very clean and a nice touch with radio on in the showers and toilets. Only down side was no shop, the reception sell a few thing but had to go in car to morrisons for a newspaper in morn. The mini bus which come on site is very good and drop you off not far from shops in Edinburgh. Booked the mini bus to go to the tatoo at night this too was very good and drop us off at the bottom of castle. It's a long hill to climb but not too steep for people with mobility problem and it give you plenty of time to get back after and does a head count to make sure every one is back on before you return back to camp site. We will have no problem using this camp site again in the future

Lovely campsite laid out in typical Caravan Club layout - bit like a car park. Still well-cared for though with clean facilities. This is a site that is good as a base not for it's views. The site also takes tents, which is unusual for a CC site. Very busy site.
Shame the old bus service no longer available, but only a 10 minute walk up to the top road where the bus service is good, going right into the city so no need to change buses. Also a mini bus service direct from site but didn't use this.
Morrisons supermarket is a short drive away in one direction and a small Tescos in the other direction. The wardens were all OK and helpful.

After reading the reviews we thought this would be a good site. I am sorry to say we did not find the lady wardens helpful or friendly at all. On arrival we were asked if we had been here before when we informed them no was told to pick a pitch with a white stick and come back to let them know, we asked if there was a motorhome fill up and was told to check the signs. We also asked about the bus stop sign and did you get the local bus from there, to be told that if we wanted to know about the bus service we had to check the information office for details. The office was not busy only myself in ! When we left I went to hand in the gate pass, she walk out from the office I said thank you we and leaving today, she picked up the card, no thank you hope you had nice stay nothing. So rude. We did not realise that it was the tatoo and when we saw the advert asked how we could or would it be possible to get tickets, we were informed that we need to get ourselves organised and get tickets sorted ! We had had a lovely 2 weeks touring Scotland to end our holiday on that site really put a back feeling on visiting Scotland. Would like to say one warden having a off day but it was 2 different lady wardens !

Visited for week long holiday and what a lovely site. All amenities of high standard incl toilet blocks, reception and information points. The area around the site is beautiful and perfect for beach walks especially dog-friendly. The wardens are all friendly and helpful. There's a nice mix of nationalities on the site here to visit Edinburgh. Plenty of food shops incl Lidl and Morrisons a very short drive away. The nearest pub is the Toby Carvery 15-20 min walk, not dog-friendly inside but there's a large beer garden. The Cramond Inn is a 30min walk along the promenade but wouldn't recommend a visit (Unpleasant staff!). The minibus service into Edinburgh is ideal for door to door service! Would definitely visit again.
