We have just spent an amazing 2 days at acorn wood. What a beautiful site, clean and very well kept. Heather and Martin are amongst the friendliest people I've met. Very helpful and chatty. Log cabin next to the fishing lake with kettle for hot drinks. A short walk down the road (14mins for us as we are slow) is the Sheffield Arms pub that serves food and also allows dogs in certain parts of the pub. Needless to say we've already booked our next stay at Acorn Wood. Thank you Heather and Martin

We have just spent four days at this lovely site. Small and friendly, with well-kept grounds. Log cabin by the small fishing lake was stocked with comfy seating, books, magazines, tea and coffee. We didn't need it this time as the weather was lovely, but it would be inviting on a rainy day! Will definitely stay again if in the area. Highly recommended.

The phrase 'this site is a gem' is over used in reviews in my opinion. It should be saved just for sites like this. It is just outside the village of Burton Upon Stather in an easy to access location. We were greeted by the friendly owners on arrival and given all necessary info.

The toilet/shower rooms are second to none and the grounds wonderfully maintained. It would be a pleasure to sit outside your vehicle in nice weather with just the sound of the birds. It was just a bit too chilly for us this time.

There is a fishing lake on site which looked lovely. A fab little log cabin for a cuppa or a read of a book. The owners really have thought of everything. The little touches make this site really special.

There are 2 dog friendly pubs nearby, the Sheffield Arms and the Ferry House Inn. The latter being our favourite. Great food, good ale and a great atmosphere.

All in all, we really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely return when in the area. Highly recommend.

On site at the moment, and loving every minute spent on it. The peace and tranquillity is first class, and the owners, Heather and Martin are very friendly. This site is a credit to them, they really have put some hard work into this. Originally booked for 4 days, but now staying 8. The lodge and the pond is just brilliant, and am loving just sat listening to the birds. A peaceful haven. ! Gary and Mandy

Superb site, very neat and well kept, unisex loos and showers but hot and very clean, lovely welcome from Heather, excellent value all in price. Short 10 minute walk to village pub and shops, bus stop close by.

What a wonderful spot! Small and friendly, short walk to shops/pub

Wonderful area around the fishing pond, log cabin equipped with tea and coffee making, comfy chairs, books and magazines. Verandah with tables and chairs.

Two toilets and showers with lots of hot water and so clean too.

Access easy, easy to find site with good directions.

We will be back for sure.

Last minute booking for a 2 night winter break not far from home. What a little gem! Super hardstanding, spacious pitches, well laid out with so many extra touches like the pots with shrubs in. Super shower block, what a surprise on a CS. Conveniently located on outskirts of Burton upon Stather though didn't use any of the facilities there. Very warm welcome, even on a very chilly day, from Heather. Did a great walk along the Cliff to Alkborough & back along the road, about 6 miles total.

If you're into fishing the facilities here must be second to none.

Just returned from a weekend away in our pop up caravan at this beautiful site. Heather & Martin are both lovely & friendly, arrived to a bowl of freshly picked plums, which were delicious. The whole site was really pretty. The toilets were warm & spotless. The flowers put a smile on my face. The other campers were friendly as well. The log cabin by the fishing lake has every thing you need if you don't want to join in with the fishing people! The site is level & the grass is short. Either hard standing or grass pitch with ehu, or with out. So peaceful except for the cockoo who just loved sitting by our pop up! But that's why I love the country side! The Sheffield Arms pub in the village do lovely meals & filled my hubby up. Well worth a trip too. Will be returning soon

Was recommended to this site by a friend and what a gem of a site it is. We were greeted by Heather who is very friendly and always happy to help. Heather showed us to our pitch which was hard standing and was so flat that we didn't have to level the van. The site is very pretty with lots of colorful flowers and well cut grass with seats around. The toilet block is the best one we have ever been to, there are 2 toilets with powerful showers with hand wash, towels and air freshener. There is also an area to wash the pots with washing up liquid, sponges and cloths. The fishing pond is very picturesque with loads of fish, my partner lost count of how many he caught. There are seats around and a wood cabin with settees, chairs, books, magazines and coffee & tea making facilities with decking outside where you can sit at small patio tables. There is a shop, post office and pub about 10 minuets walk away. There is a retail park about 10 minutes drive away. This was our first visit and will definitely not be the last.
