My family and I (2 adults and 3 children) had an amazing week at Dol-llys. The site was beautiful in the sunshine and very well kept, well cut grass and very tidy. The river running through the site was the highlight and we spent many hours either having fun in it or having camp-fires on its banks in the evenings.
The owners, who were lovely and very helpful, booked us in and said we could camp where we pleased, so there were no set pitches and we were allowed to spread out and not worry about our neighbours.
We bought a few bags of logs from the farm (£5 for a good size bag) to burn on the camp-fire which was great, they even delivered them down to us.
The facilities were also super, band new heated wet rooms with a shower, sink and toilet (VERY SMART), and washing up room plus a campers kitchen with a good sized fridge/freezer. The other bits and bobs such as toaster, microwave and kettle were great, ideal I can imagine if the weather happened to be bad.
Llanidloes itself is a lovely little town, we walked along the farm's fields to get to it which was a lovely change from the road. There is all you need including a spar and coop, butchers, veg store and lots of nice pubs and restaurants including a great chippy!
We definitely will be returning very soon this summer hopefully and bringing our friends with us!

Love this place. It's perfect. Location/setting is stunning, with the added bonus of being a working farm - my kids love seeing the animals.
The toilet block is relatively new, with plenty of wet rooms with showers and additional toilet block (showers are 20p for 3 mins, takes 20ps and £1 coins). Very clean. Wash up block fabulous too. They also provide a campers kitchen with microwave, fridge and kettle and somewhere to sit/dine if you wish.
Owners are lovely, lots of local knowledge and tips on places to eat or visit.
The river is a wonderful extra, my kids love paddling and fishing in it. We've even had a fire on the bank and eaten our fish and chips next to it late in the evening.
There's a simple play area for children, though the owner did tell me they had plans to update their equipment this year.
The access road is a bit narrow and there are passing points so it can be a bit scary with a big caravan, but on saying that, it's so quiet, we've only met an oncoming vehicle once in the three years we' e been visiting this site.
The caravan field is a little way down from the showers, with the tent field being closest, but I guess this was planned on the basis that many caravans have their own loo and shower whereas most tents don't. I don't mind the stroll to the loos, it's so beautiful there it's nice to just enjoy the walk.
Altogether a 10 star site.

We've revisited this site twice recently to celebrate my wife and I 40th birthdays with two different groups of friends.
We've been before so we knew all our friends would love it and they were not disappointed.
We've had group football matches with other campers; children playing in the river; fishing and bottle feeding calves.
All of our friends are going to recommend it to their friends as it's such a chilled campsite.
The owners can't do enough for you and are extremely friendly, we simply love it!

Great site in Mid Wales.
Site is on a working farm so be prepared for the usual animal movements and noises.
Site doesn't have a lot of hook-ups, so tents with electric might find it hard to find a pitch.
Very near to Llandiloes town centre, short walk or a drive.
Shower block looks very new, nice to see timers on the showers, know exactly how long your 20p will last.
Is about 1 hour drive to Aberyswyth and 1 1/2 hours drive to Hereford.

We arrived on the Friday afternoon in drizzle and were welcomed by the owners. Upon asking about where to camp, we were advised that you can just pitch anywhere and if we wanted a campfire then camp near the river severn. We decided on the river and were not disappointed! What a stunning location.
It was a busy weekend (bank holiday) but it didn't feel like it as the site is huge and very well organised. You can pitch in small sheltered areas to have privacy or up on a bank for views, really it depends on what you want.
The only downside I can think of ( and this is me being very picky) is that if you camp at the river edge or at the far end of the site, then it's a trek up to the shower/toilet blocks but since I'm on a diet the extra walking allowed that extra glass of wine. If you get lucky and have sun then a paddle in the river is a must, it was wonderful to see families and kids and dogs all making the most of it and as we left a communal game of footie was being played.
The local village which is about 10/15 minutes away takes you on a lovely walk and into a village that hasn't changed in 100 years. The locals are friendly and chat away and welcomed us out of towners, there is everything you need whilst away and with 9 pubs to choose from, 2 chippys, a market with fresh fish/meats/fruits and veg, there is no need to go anywhere else.
Overall, we loved this weekend away. When we arrived home we told some of our friends who will now be coming back with us next year! It's rare that you find a site that you loved that much that you want to go back but this one charmed us both! Roll on next year!

First time visitors to the site. What a find in the most gorgeous location beautiful hills - lots of local walks / easy access to Glyndwr Way and the Severn Way / also near the national cycle route no. 81. Campsite surrounded by trees, hills, ducks on the river, horses in the fields. Friendly owners. Well laid out. Plenty of room for everyone. Dogs are allowed if kept on lead - and most people kept their dog under control. (good as I'm not keen on dogs) The farm dogs were well behaved as well.
Only a 10/15 min stroll into the town, pubs, shops
It didn't feel busy. There are family shower rooms, 3 large sinks in the kitchen area and a common room with fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. The facilities were clean - loos, showers and kitchen
20p coins needed for a 3 minute shower
Visited this site with 2 tents and 2 cars. We arrived Friday night and left monday morning.
We saw some people with campfires and bags of logs coming back from reception.
There were plenty of open grass areas to play on, a wooden climbing frame in one area. There is a gorgeous river that flowed alongside the site that is shallow enough to paddle in - cold and fresh.
Would definitely recommend it.

Great site, Beautiful location, lovely and quiet with the river and hillside views.
Llanidloes really pretty town with plenty of shops and cafes for all your needs. Well worth a walk around.
Very friendly owners.
Excellent facilities at site include dry room which has kettle, microwave and seating. The washing up area is brand new and is very nicely done.
The shower wet rooms are amazing. Definitely more hotel-like than camping. Most positively glamping.
The only down side is that if the campsite is full, I imagine there will be large queues for the wet rooms as there are only 3 new ones, but it will be well worth the wait!
Would recommend site to other families.

First time visitors to the site we booked as a 2 night stop over as we moved down country at the jubilee break. What a find in the most gorgeous location.
Fantastic facilities, large spacious hot showers some incorporating loo & wash basin, great wash up area and communal kitchen room, the whole place we found immaculate, most of the facilities were new by the look of them and really well thought out.
Only a 10/15 min stroll into the lovely town, where you find just about everything you could need in the small quaint shops. We found the pubs very welcoming with fine beers and good company, food is available in most.
For us, this site and its friendly charming hosts are perfect. We will return without a doubt!

What a peaceful retreat! We spent Diamond Jubilee Weekend there with our two children (14 & 8 years old) and we all simply loved it.
The owners told us on the phone a few days before that they were full all weekend, but we didn't find it busy at all. There are family shower rooms, at least three large sinks in the kitchen area and a common room with fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. It's all kept clean too.
We've been bottle feeding calfs and lambs and even had a go at shearing sheep with the owner. They really couldn't do enough for us and were extremely helpful anytime of the day or night.
Campfires are allowed by the River Seven which runs through it, and fishing is free as long as you bring your own equipment.
Can recommend this site enough, and we wish we'd found it sooner. We'll definitely be returning every chance we get.

Visited this site with the 3 kids (ages 6, 7 and 9) and the dog. We arrived Friday night and left Sunday afternoon, and only had to leave the site to nip to the shop - the site was so nice we felt no need to go any further afield.
There were plenty of open grass areas to play on, a little playground (basically just a slide!) but it was the gorgeous river that flowed through the site that captured everyone's imagination. We spent the whole time skimming pebbles, paddling across and splashing around in the river. Fabulous!
Fires are allowed on the rivers edge which is nice. The facilities were basic but clean (loos, showers and kitchen), and I believe there are further facilities due to open soon.
Would recommend this site and will be returning very soon.
