Arrived just after the snow had melted, the field was rather soggy.
Discussed the problem with the owner and made an attempt to get to a pitch. Stuck on field. Tractor placed caravan on pitch.
Thereafter it was a week of bliss.
Clean toilet block with all the facilities required.
Gas bottle renewal
The grass was neat with a lot of daffodils blooming all around the field.
Access from the main road is good from the south. A longer route is better from the north and when leaving the site.
The owners are very helpful and pleasant to talk too.
We would recommend this site and we will return again.

We have been using this site for the past 5 or 6 years now and have always been made very welcome. Each time we visit we see improvements from our previous visit. The major improvement is without doubt the new toilet and shower block which with the exception of users not cleaning up after themselves is kept immaculately clean. The site covers quite a number of acres providing plenty of space between pitches. We were there the weekend of the local show when the site had been fully booked. Unfortunately, possibly due to the inclement weather, about 25% of the bookings, did not arrive without giving notice. Had notice been given, the pitches could more than likely have been re-allocated without the site losing the income.
There are a number of off road walks in the area including the nearby walk around the reservoir. A general store and pub/restaurant are situated in the village across the reservoir dam. There is also the popular farm ice cream outlet a short drive away towards Huddersfield and a supermarket and other facilities in nearby Penistone.
All in all this is a well kept, well managed site which we will continue to use whenever we are in the area.

What a fabulous camp site with very friendly laid back owners. It's basically a large, slightly sloped, well drained enclosed field, with several EHU pitches in the middle & around the edge. We opted for non EHU & at £6 pppn offered great value. The site was busy, but we didn't notice too much noise & the facilities were clean, well stocked & we never had to queue. You need to buy tokens when you book in for the showers, 50p for 5 mins & the water was always hot. Please note, there are no hair dryers or sockets in the facilities. Lots of recycling bins, unlike other camp sites I've stayed at. My only improvement would be a freezer for your cooler blocks. I would also recommend the local pub The Fountain Inn about 15-20 mins walk away if you fancy a tasty, good value pub meal. Looking forward to visiting again.

We have visited the site Twice already this year, not far from home for us to test out the caravan we have just purchased. The price £14 per night with electric and water at each pitch. This site is so peaceful and lovely beautiful surroundings - Situated along the Trans Pennine Trail, we took our mountain bikes the second time we went and had a good ride to Dumford Bridge along the trail from the site via Penistone. Lots of great walks and wildlife, Scouts Dike and Reservoirs also Wortley Hall and Cannon Hall are lovely places to visit. The site owner very friendly, provides leaflets of things to do in the area, Including cycle routes. The Shower/Toilet block very clean and the 50p shower(tokens from the bungalow when we paid on arrival) was nice and warm and gives you plenty of time. We will most definitely be returning

We stopped on this site last year for 1 day and was happy but didn't use the facilities has we were up and away early morning. We came back at the end of june this year to try our new trailer tent out, we booked and stopped for 2 nights and couldn't fault it the facilities were always clean no matter when you went in and there was always hot water. The site was quite and with great views perfect get away will most certainly be going back soon as its local to us 30 mins drive away so great to escapetoo. Can also recommend the fountain pub for meals also 15 min walk away
If you have children they will need to make there own entertainment but to us that's what campings all about let them run round with a ball.
Will add I don't have young children now but the children on site where very well behaved great to see

When we arrived, the friendliness of the owners was very apparent, they were very helpful and pleasant. Using satnav it tryed to take us down a way to the campsite that was not suitable for car and trailer, but sure if I had asked some directions when I rang to book I may gave avoided the bit of drive around to find which turn I needed to take for a suitable road.
We were shown to our pitch which was nicely sheltered with plenty of room, we did notice the field had a gentle slope however was easy to accommodate. One aspect that really impressed me was the accessibility of water as there was water points with the electric hookup points.
The shower and toilet block was always very clean, and the shower was nice and hot with the 50p cost for 5 mins which I felt was very reasonable (on a token metre)
It has both washing up facilities and an elsan point.
There was plenty of space for us to play with my 4 year old and being situated on the transpennine trail, some beautiful walks by the campsite. There is also an ice cream parlour down the road, and a small village shop. My little boy loved looking at all the farm animals around.
We were quite impressed by the site so before leaving booked another long weekend

Me and my husband found the camp site easily and checked in at the farmhouse, next door to the field where we would be staying. We were made welcome and purchased coins for the shower (50p = 1 token)which gave you 5 mins. Of lovely hot water. More than enough time to do what you have to do.
We wanted electric hook up and were shown to our pitch. The field was enormous but well kept.
The showers and toilets were kept clean and you had a wash area with bowls and cloths.
Information leaflets were near-by and the owners would help with anything even though this was a working farm.
We walked round Scout Dike (1 of the 4 reservoirs). Picked Blackberries and ate at the Fountain Inn (1mile away). The
Food their was beautiful.
We intend going again and walking into Penistone next year.
Thank-you we really enjoyed our stay.

I retired on 2nd September and my wife gave me a choice of a trip to celebrate - I chose here over Barcelona.
Great family run site and dog friendly. We pay £14 per night, plus 50p each for a long hot shower; this includes the dog and a 16A hookup - a bargain (If you're a club member I believe it's only TEN pounds a night). Owners are helpful and friendly - thanks Cynthia.
We always use the paddock - ask when you book.
Great days out to Holmfirth (15 min drive) buy bread and cakes at the Bridge bakery; the Kirklees Light Railway; and do drive out to Holme Moss after seeing Holmfirth - FANTASTIC views and picnic spot and only 5 minutes from Holmfirth. Ans go to saltiare village - a must - with pie chips and peas at £2. 50 from the Village bakery. Free parking on a Sunday is best day to go.
If you like Asian food try Maxi's at Denby Dale - they deliver free to the site if you spend at least £7; good food, large portions, delivered hot/on time; there are leaflets by the washup sinks.
All in all a great campsite. We will be back Cynthia

This was our first trip out with our tourer and we found the site great for beginners. Owner showed us several spots that were easy for us to set up on and with no real boundaries to the pitches we were able to manoeuvre around until we were happy. Shower/toilet block is basic but clean and the water was always hot. Site itself is in a beautiful spot with lovely views and fantastic walks around the reservoirs. Great for dog owners as the farm path to the side of the site is great for morning walks.

This is a wonderful site - peaceful, spotless and very welcoming. The owners could not have been more helpful and accommodating, and facilities (taps, hook ups, elsan point, loos, pot wash etc) are well thought out. The views are lovely and grassy pitches are level and very spacious. It's an easy site to find and navigate, with friendly locals and though there are no swings/slide etc, there is loads of space for children to play on site and in the fields next door. The families staying when we were there seemed to be having a whale of a time.
The dog walking from the site is excellent (farm paths, bridle paths and reservoirs without going near a road). Lots of wildlife. A fantastic break: we'll be back!
