This is a basic site with a big heart and some of the friendliest campers we have ever shared a holiday with. Never more than 7 or 8 units (5 maximum caravans/campervans) you have ample space to choose your pitch and you are always near a fresh water tap. Its true the toilet facilities may put some families off but this would be a mistake because the freedom of the site is that its under occupied and allows you to take in the beautiful countryside you are in. Not more than a 5 minute walk from the village centre where the local Londis (stocked by Budgens) has everything you will need. The beach is clean and the water gorgeous and its safety is second to none, also only a few minutes away.
This is by far the best camping holiday we have been on and the owners were fabulous and always found us a fresh egg or two from their hens. Every single occupier of the site during our ten day stay were chatty and friendly and without any distractions the kids played together and the adults had a glass of wine or two!
Everyone commented on how well maintained this site is and I have to agree although the weather was perfect throughout our stay I may have found it more difficult in a damper climate getting things washed/dried etc and I did miss a freezer facility for picnic blocks to be re frozen.
Dogs were accepted on the site and always immaculately behaved. I cannot recommend the local pub The Castle Inn highly enough the food was always delicious and plentiful at an affordable price. Yvonne the chef always helped where she could to accommodate our needs and the happy hours were tremendous! We went every day and it hardly made a dint in our budget!
This part of the world is just stunning and I urge you to try this site if you go as it is just something different and rare these days.

We visited the Campsite this weekend and upon arrival the owner welcomed us and ran through the important points of the site. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the field and the layout of each pitch as it was spacious and allowed privacy. There was electric hook up available and Fresh drinking water points alongside each pitch which was fantastic. The shower and toilet facilities were temporary but were cleaned a number times during the day by the owners. Local amenities were only a short 10-15 minute walk from the sight and were more than adequate. We would definitely visit the site again this summer.

My Husband and I stayed here in our motorhome for two nights. The site is mostly sloping but it is possible to find some reasonably level spots and the owners were helpful in pointing out the best spots for us to park. There is plenty of room and a multitude of EHU points and freshwater taps. The shower and toilet facilities were of the temporary variety so we chose to use our own on board facilities but others staying at the same time commented on their cleanliness. The beach and local pub were a 15 - 20 minute walk away. The only criticism I would have is the price, £15 + £5 for a hook up per night is a bit expensive especially considering the facilities available, £15 inclusive of hook up would have been a more reasonable charge. The price is the only thing that would deter me from visiting again.

We have once again returned for the 2nd year running from this site. Although this time we had our own caravan and not our own tent like last year. But it was no different. Such a lovely site and all this is down to the owners and their own hard work. This time we had our daughter and her 2 young children with us. And the fact you are so close to the beach which the 2 boys loved going to made it even more special. Hoping to return to again next year.

Everything a campsite should be! A great location, friendly owners, clean facilities and peace and quiet. Have just returned from a weekend spent walking the coast path, bar-b-q's on the beach and sitting in the local beer garden with a pint of real ale. We didn't have to use the car once. Everything within a 10 minute walk. Don't let the portaloos deter you as they were spotlessly clean and the shower was better than most campsites we have visited. Cannot wait to return.

Just returned from a great long weekend at Kelpie, and it's going to be a site we return to.
We liked:
* a fantastic welcome from the owners - who have encyclopaedic knowledge of the local area - thank you!
* a lovely quiet, family-friendly site. We were put at the far side of the field (and have no illusions, this is a camping field with hook-ups and water, not a clubhouse / amusement campsite) because we had the youngest children on the site, so Jon and Christ put us furthest away from the entrance gate - great & very thoughtful.
* the location. A sheltered field, within an easy walk to the beach at Manorbier.
We didn't like:
* the facilities. Through no fault of their own, Jon & Chris are not allow to put up a proper toilet block, so are stuck with festival facilities as they are, in theory, moveable. These were the cleanest facilities I have ever come across on any campsite anywhere, but the shower was feeble, and too hot for the children, and the way it had to be(as a green plastic festival shower) meant that my very short 9-year old son had to be supervised as the hook was too high up to allow him to hang up his clothes.
Will we return? Most definitely. This site is a real find, but we will only go for long weekends as the nature of the facilities means that it's quite a strain to supervise the children for every single loo and shower visit. I sincerely hope that Jon & Chris get permission to erect a proper loo block, as it seems utterly ludicrous that they're not - especially when there is a static caravan park just next door!

A very good site indeed, simple - clean - and straightforward. Best access to the beach and village. Well away from crowds. Good hookup points and lots of water points too. Very pretty, will return!

We have just returned from a week on this beautiful site and what a mixed week of weather it was. As described it is a gently sloping site but at the bottom flat. Electric and water at regular points around the field. Toilets are 2 large portable toilets and 1 shower but are cleaned 4 or 5 times a day and are not a problem. The beach, pub and Londis are all within walking distance. Jon and Christine are a lovely friendly couple and so are the girls. They made Jubilee celebrations for all on the site despite the rain, the site is well maintained and not overcrowded and suited us down to the ground we will definitely be returning. If club houses and amusements are what you are after, this definitely not the site for you. Peace and quiet and friendly atmosphere is what you will get.

This has to be one of the best sites on here.
From the moment that we arrived (a large group of 1 Touring Caravan, 1 Motor home and 2 Tents, that's 8 adults and 7 children) we were made to feel welcome by John and his wife the owners.
The site is a large field with water and electricity around the perimeter. There is plenty of space for 5 caravans/motor-homes and 20 tents but John will only have 5 vans/motor-homes and 10 tents, so as he says there is plenty of room.
We set up in a corner of the site and was able to have the water and waste direct to our van which was much easier than filling and emptying.
The Facilities consisted of 2 Toilets and 1 Shower, these are the mobile type but don't let that put you off as they were immaculately clean all the time.
The site is bathed in sunshine all day (we had a mixed week with some very bad weather) when it shines.
We were there during the Jubilee weekend and John and his 'Royal' family judged a best dressed tent competition with sweets and goodies for the children and drinks for the adults.
On the Monday there was a beach party on Manorbier beach, a 10 minute walk through either the town or a lovely woodland and past the castle.
The beach is large and sandy and safe, there is a pub in town, tea shop, well stocked Londis.
This is a Gem of a site and is recommended very highly from me and all my family members that stayed for 10 nights.
5 Star site.

A great site in a great location with very friendly owners. We were made very welcome by the owner & we stayed on the hardstanding by the entrance gate. We had sole use of the toilet & shower. These were similar to festival amenities, being similar to green telephone boxes! They were, however, very clean & did the job. EHU, elsan, water, rubbish bins all very close. The weather was atrocious whilst we were there & the power went off for an hour - the owner checked to see if we were OK! There's a castle, pub, beach & shop within a few minutes walk. We'll definitely be back!
