We visited the site over the August Bank Holiday for three nights, we were in the field nearest the marina, plenty of room on our pitch but found the ground rock hard for tent pegs, electric points, water points close by.

The location is good for visiting the surrounding area. Its right on the river Hamble, great place to eat at the Waters Edge on the marina. However the camp site itself is looking very tired, the toilet / shower facilities were not adequate, not very hygienic and no evidence of being cleaned during our stay, although they must have been?

We have paid the same price at other sites and the facilities were excellent(5 star).

Shame about facilities because it's a good location.

 Where was the river?

Not spectacular facilities as they really do need updating and the photo on the website and brochure is somewhat photoshopped as you don't have access to the marina.

Positive points - staff are great and site is tidy and you get plenty of space to pitch.

The area is quite nice - Hamble is a short walk away but be careful on the road. Once in Hamble, go down to the river and enjoy a snack while watching the boats.

I was put on a touring pitch due to size of my tent 7m/4m and my request for a gazebo (and also booking very late).

Pitch was on quite a sharp slope and I thought that £21 + £10 (gazebo) was a bit pricy. My pitch (No.5) was at the point that cars and caravans would pull up and park to go into reception so had fairly constant noise during day and passing car noise at night. On arrival the Ladies in reception were friendly and helpful and quite patient with my six year old lad who wanted to go in and chat with them numerous times.

I found the toilet block to be adequate and clean and well lit. A small laundry that contained two washing sinks attached to a block for water, chemical waste and, and rubbish. Overall the site is nice, clean and handy for boating, walking, Forest and South Coast. Marina is 5 mins walk and had a reasonable menu but I did not eat there. We walked into town and sampled various pubs and ate at the indian restaurant which was lovely. Town was lovely but appears to be in danger of losing it's soul to new builds and too many pubs.

Overall I would recommend this site but not rave about it. It is child friendly whilst having little for them to do. Tents are placed fairly close together but the site retains a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

The site location is great, being not too far from the M27, however travelling on a hot Friday afternoon can be busy with people heading to the coast for the weekend.

We found the site no problem and the location is stunning. The site is a two minute walk away from the marina with view of the Hamble river and boats etc.

With regards to the location of the Hamble Village, this is about a 15 minute walk and is a lovely buzzing little village with around 6 pubs, a variety of restaurants, small Co Op, cash machine, chandlers etc. And you will find all you need to cater for a weekend or week away at this site.

There are walks aplenty from the site, and a short drive in any direction takes you to coastal paths and walks to satisfy all fitness levels.

The marina next to the site has a bar / restaurant called The Waters Edge and they had a variety of draft lagers and beers and a good selection of bottled beers and wines. The lunch menu was reasonably priced and the evening menu was varied without costing the earth. We ate in here once and the food was good. They also do breakfast up until 10.30am, so get there early if you don't fancy cooking your own bacon.

The campsite itself is split into three fields, the one nearest reception and the entrance road was not overly level, but livable but they are very close together, not my cup of tea, however the other two fields are flatter and more spaced out. Plenty of electric points, water points, bins etc.

The toilet and shower facilities were clean and the showers were very powerful and the facilities did their job, what more do you need. There is a laundry and iron on site, but did not use them so cannot comment.

Dogs are allowed on site, however must be on a lead and there is plenty of walking in the area for them.

The reception sells the basics, bread rolls, bacon, ice creams, a few camping supplies and other bits and pieces. The shop is located in reception and the ladies on the desk always seemed helpful enough.

We stayed in a static caravan and the caravan was beautifully presented with all the required crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, tv, shower, etc. And all worked fine. The static was very modern and clearly looked after.

Location wise and things to do in the area are abundent, you have the New Forest, Southampton, Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Beaulie and so much more. Plenty to keep you occupied for a week. Even a quick trip to the Isle of Wight need not be out of the question.

The site is peaceful and did not hear any rowdy groups. In this location I can see me coming here time and time again, if you like boating and want to get on the Hamble river, then this is the site for you, however the camping prices are vey expensive , but yoget what you pay for in terms of location.

Great location Camp site right next to the marina

Great place to eat at the Waters Edge on the marina.

Stayed 2 nights

Visited Portsmouth Historic Naval Dockyards full day out.

Hamble train station out of the campsite gate to the road turn right walk to the end of the road 15 mins, then turn left 10 mins.Direct train in to Portsmouth & Southsea 09.04am £7 adult return bargain! 30 mins by train they run every hour .

The campsite toilets & showers were basic. Large numbers of family & groups of tent campers staying on site, parents & kids very loud upto 11.30pm

Also tent campers arriving after site staff had left for the day .

Recommend you take ear plugs for a good nights sleep!

Nice campsite shame they take groups of tent campers who do not follow campsite rules!

We picked this site due to its location and the reviews. The site itself was very pretty and the pitch we were given was flat and not a bad size. The site was half full but still very quiet during the evening which was great. The staff were all friendly and the shop sold basic food and kids toys etc.

The main problem with this site is the toilet/shower facilities. I never saw the them being cleaned (although I'm sure they must have been, but certainly not enough). We were only on this site for two nights and had family staying in one of the statics so we were able to shower there, as I would not have washed the children in them. Also the hair-dryer was broken and they didn't have any plug sockets for you to use your own, which was a real pain.

It's a real shame about the facilities on this site as it could be lovely, it just needs some money to be spent on it

A large group of us stayed here over the May bank holiday for 3 nights.

Not the cheapest campsite we have stayed in!

The location is excellent. Its right on the river Hamble, the kids loved having ago at fishing even if they didn’t catch anything.

There is a marina next to the campsite with a good bar/restaurant, we phoned ahead and booked a table as there were 16 of us.

Nice and relaxed with excellent food.

Tesco’s is 5 mins up the road for anything you may need, the little shop onsite froze our ice packs free of charge and even lent us some while ours were in the freezer.

The site that we were allocated was a little tight but we made the space work for us. We had 5 tents and 2 WV vans and a gazebo.

The toilet/shower blocks were a little dated. We were in the lower field. The block was a porta cabin style. They were cleaned every day around noon and were always clean. The showers were small but always clean and hot! Oh and they are free!

Our only negative is there was no area for the kids to play in. They enjoyed riding there bikes around, but there was no open space to kick a ball around, in fact on the Monday afternoon the site was very empty so the 'dads' took advantage and had a game of football, but it was stopped short with a little telling off by the site owner.

All in all it was a good site, if you don’t mind the dated toilet block and paying a little extra for a amazing location then you will have a great time.

We visited this site for the Easter weekend. The site is lovely as are the staff. The toilets and showers are in great need of some up-dating especially as it wasn't the cheapest site in the world.

The village of Hamble is really nice but be warned the last minute of the walk back to the site is on the side of the road with no pavement and at night we found with 3 children this was very dangerous.

In general the site was fine and was only let down by the toilet / shower block.

Site is 15 minutes walk from the village of Hamble - great set of pubs (try the fish & chips in the Bugle)and restaurants so, if you don't mind the walk you won't go hungry. There are also a range of shops (one open very late for those in need).

The camp site itself is looking a bit tired. The facilities, although adequate (portacabins), are dated. There is a basic shop (crisps etc). The cost for a night was £21 -quite expensive given what was on offer. However, if you love that area, the site is very well placed.

First time at this site and just for a long weekend. Made very welcome by the warden and directed to our pitch which was a reasonable size as it was in a corner. The site has lodges and static vans and two main camping/touring areas and about half of the pitches have electric hook-up available. Toilets/showers (free)etc were very clean although a bit dated and there was plenty of hot water when needed. Quiet site with no other real facilities though there is a small shop at reception. Adjacent to a Marina and all are welcome to use the bar/restaurant which is under new management now, the meals we had there were excellent. Tesco Extra store a few miles down the road so don't worry if you have forgotten your coffee or toothbrush! Nice walks along the river, Hamble village close by, New Forest/Southampton/Portsmouth all in easy reach.

Would stay again.
