Amazed to find we had been here before, found this out when booking in - we were asked to confirm our car reg number, which they gave as our Cavalier we had years ago. They said we were there in April 1999!
The site is very nicely laid out, and no regimented siting of units necessary - 'Just place it anywhere, any way you like within your pitch boundary'. We were even given advice on which way the prevailing winds were and the sun.
The staff are brilliant and very friendly and the facilities great for either families with kids or older couples. Access and signing excellent; the road (an old fosse way) is quiet so no problems turning in or out.
Electronic gates open entry or exit via campers' registration numbers.
Semi service pitch perfect, water tap and TV aerial connection - digital - excellent signal.
WE WILL RETURN!

The best site we have stayed on, we stayed for 14nights and had a great time. The hard standing for the caravan was block paved with gravel for the awning and lots of space to park the car. The on site shop is well stocked. We had a fully serviced pitch and didn't use the facilities but we had a look and they were spotlessly clean. There is a play area for children and a 9 hole pitch and putt course.
There are lovely walks in the forest and the Silent Woman pub is nearby - children are not allowed in the pub but dogs are allowed in. Wareham is only a short drive away and is lovely with a Sainsburys and coop super markets. I recommend this site and promise you will love it, all the staff are very polite and friendly and go out of their way to ensure that you enjoy your stay

We have just got back from 2 nights (a weekend) camping at this site.
On arrival the staff were very friendly & helpful. As they were quiet we had a choice of where we could pitch our tent. We opted for the bottom field which was just wonderful. We had no neighbours except for rabbits.
We don't have any children but there looked like a lovely little park for the kids which had a slide, swings & something to climb on. There was also a tennis court, pitch & putt, volley ball & a huge grass area for ball games.
The shower block/toilets were very clean & checked, on a regular basis. The showers were free of charge & the water was wonderful and hot. The showers were operated by pushing a button which then clicks off after so many seconds. Not a problem as you can shower holding the button down.
The campsite is right in Wareham Forest & anyone staying here should go for a walk or a cycle in the forest. You can hire bicycles from the campsite at a very reasonable rate.
There is a shop on site which I felt was very reasonably priced & had most things that you could possibly want.
We went to the nearest pub for drinks which is 'The Silent Woman'. We were made to feel very welcome & are very welcoming of dogs.
This really is a lovely site & we hope to visit again soon.

Nice friendly site, good hard standing pitch with electricty/freeview television and water connections.
The toilets/shower blocks were large and clean. Showers are nice and hot and free of charge.
Great access to Wareham Forest for Mountain Biking, walking, etc.
The Silent Lady pub only 15 minutes away by foot serves tasty Badger Ale and has a restaurant area that I didn't try. They had a 70's theme night on when I visited :-)
Excellent Value for money!
Thanks and I will stay here again.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The ground where we were pitched was good and flat.
My 6 year old enjoyed the playground and found he had plenty of room to run around safely.
The shop was well stocked and we even managed to get a tin opener when we were daft enough to forget ours at home.
The toilet and shower facilities were pretty clean. They did get a little dirty during the day but the weather was bad when we went, so it was to be expected.

I recently have returned from this campsite, and I would like to say the staffs are fantastic.
When I left for home, I turned right from this site and headed along Regis road when a lorry went past which was heading to the land fill nearby and something fell onto my car and I ended up being stranded, having glass in my eye, whiplash, and being in shock. What happened was it hit the car and the glass smashed the bonnet shot up sending glass into my eye and I had to brake and hope for the best.
The police escorted me back to Birchwood, while there Linda and the rest of the staff were brilliant help. They let me stay until I could get sorted and use the phone when I needed to and they also took messages for me, it was like having my own pa's around.
The campsite location it's self was good at first, although I would have proffered to be closer to the sea and town. When I had a car it was not much of a problem but being in the middle of know where it did have disadvantages has as I found out.
The campsite seems big enough, the toilets were spotless and the site looked well maintained. Use the first block for showers, I found them better.
The only minors were the cost; it was a bit steep to stay there especially as they charge per person on top of the pitch, which soon adds up.
The next minor was my pitch, and a few pitches around me including 23 my own, 17, 18, 19 and 22 as the ground was hard and patchy, the small group I was with bent quite a few tent pegs and it took ages to get our pitches right.
But other pitches seemed to look fine and cater for most.
There is no internet access currently but that may change soon.
With a decent sized clean toilet block and one smaller one also clean, hook up points scattered around just like water points, a forest to wonder in, a mini games room, a putting green, games field, a ranger, auto gates, a small shop selling a big range of things, a small pool which was not in use and a games area.
If you can put up with the minors then you have found yourself a very good campsite.

Just returned from a weekend at this site and on arrival I was immediately impressed by the friendliness and cheerfulness of the people in reception. I had only booked the site because other solo campers from UKCS had said they would be there. The wardens helped me find the others and allowed me to pitch next to them even though the pitches in that area were EHU and I had originally booked non-electric. They couldn't have been more helpful.
The pitches are very large and flat, my only complaint being that the surface of my pitch and other tent pitches in that area was very worn compacted earth where most of the grass had worn away. Beneath this was heavy gravel/ballast which made it almost impossible to hammer conventional pegs in without bending them. After 3 hours of trying to peg down my tent which normally only takes about an hour, and bending practically every peg, I had to buy rock pegs from the site shop at 85p each!
The site itself is very peaceful although some noise can be heard at times from the main road nearby. The toilet and shower facilities are very clean and well maintained, the blocks being heated. One can always find niggling faults such as the ribbon thin toilet paper supplied and the push down taps which won't stay running long enough to wash hands, but these are common problems on many sites. In general it is a very well maintained peaceful site for those who wish to chill out, the nearest civilisation being a car drive away. The nearest pub is a half hours walk away, being reached via woodland paths rather than risking the main road which has no footpaths.
There is a paddling pool and play equipment for the children and a games room as well as pitch 'n' put, table tennis etc.
I am a very hard person to please in relation to campsites but this one is one of the better sites I have been to and was made even more pleasant by the particularly welcoming reception on arrival.

Good and well-kept facilities.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
The only downside is the dire mobile phone coverage (for Orange at least) and lack of WiFi or mobile broadband coverage.
However, it is designed that way to enable those who like to get away from it all!
It is next to a forest with lovely walks for doggies, and there are interesting places to visit just a short drive away.
I do not have children, hence I cannot comment whether it is child friendly or not.
However, my dog loved it!
Highly recommended, and I would have given it a 10 out of 10 if it has WiFi!

We have just returned from a weekend at Birchwood tourist park.
The campsite is set in the beautiful Wareham forest and is an ideal location for walking and mountain biking through the forest.
Within a short drive there is Wareham, Swanage and Corfe castle, a little further will take you to Poole, Bournemouth and Lulworth cove.
The site itself has two very well maintained toilet and shower blocks with outside washing up areas and no shortage of hot water.
There is a play are for the kids, a paddling pool, and a pitch and putt area for golf fans.
The shop is very well stocked including quite a few camping accessories and the staff are very helpful.
We are hoping to return in the spring

Just got back from a week here and had a very enjoyable and relaxing few days. This site is clean and tidy and nice and peaceful at times when it matters most! The children that were there seemed to be well enough entertained with the facilities that were available. Plenty of open space for ball games etc with well kept grassy area's. Ample woodland walks very close by if like me you have dogs to keep amused. The staff are very helpful and friendly. I was also surprised that I only had to wait to get a shower once in the 5 days I stayed even though it was fairly busy. Toilet and shower block was nice and clean too.
Great food is available from the pub just down the road, walkable if you wish. Wareham is a 5 minute drive to the shops, beaches are about 20 minutes drive away. All in all, very enjoyable and we would certainly go back again.
