I stayed at Applefields as a base while exploring the area as a cyclist.
I found the site to be ideal, reasonably close to the town but nice and quiet. I had a lovely spot for my one man tent along with a wooden picnic bench.
The owner, Susan and her husband, are lovely people and were welcoming and really helpful.
The facilities are great with plenty of loos and showers as well as a kitchen with a kettle, toaster and microwave. There is also a washing machine available as well as a rotary clothesline.
As my stay coincided with the record breaking temperatures in July, I was glad of the shade provided by the family room where you can sit in comfortable chairs or use the tables. Also, there are plenty of sockets for phone charging.
The majority of visitors while I was there were in motor homes but there was plenty of room for people to have sufficient space. I spoke to several people who come to Applefields regularly from as far afield as Derbyshire and Yorkshire.
I was also encouraged to meet two German cycle tourers that had chosen Applefields for one of their stopping points.
Really liked this campsite and enjoyed riding to beautiful Thorniness, bustling Aldeburgh and Dunwich with its popular fish and chip shop.
Just a note: Leiston only has one main shop for groceries and is rather expensive whereas more choice is available in nearby Saxmundham.

Pitches well spaced with individual water tap and electric point.
Very well maintained- grass super short.
Site slightly sloping; our pitch along the hedge perfectly flat.
No shade however, which would have been welcome this week! Facilities clean and spacious.
Dog washing area!
Best of all, lovely welcome from friendly owner.
Relaxing and peaceful site just minutes from village.
Would return!

Lovely quiet site with clean facilities.
Great to have a kitchen area to use with microwave and toaster!
Can take your own fire pits, freezer and washing machine if needed,
Really reasonable rates and very flexible arrival and leaving times.
Can’t score it anything other than 10/10 Thank you for having us
Would definitely recommend.
