We booked this site and on arrival requested a grass pitch with a south facing view from front of van, given no problem, ideal pitch for our requirements. I wanted to use the toilet before setting up the pitch, and I bumped into our friends who had secretly booked this site without our knowing. We then asked the warden if we could change our pitch to be near our friends. The only fault I could find with this site was that on the site road cars were exceeding the speed limit, this I put down to parents of school-children who were picking up their children from a school camping rally and not being aware of site rules or etiquette.
Overall we found the site well kept, the staff polite and friendly. I would also say that a one-way system could be introduced on the roadway. We will certainly return.

Hertford is one of our favourite sites being very spacious and well laid out. There are two toilet block, both a little tired but very functional and very clean. The site managers are very helpful, although they now don't seem to bother pitching you at busy times, if you are a non electric hook up.
'Choose anywhere you want but remember the 6 metre rule' This is fine if you are a member and know what to do, but plenty of family groups and others, did not not seem to adhere to this rule. The result was a few large and noisy groups.
Also in the non electric area' there were dogs running loose and rubbish being dumped. This seems to be a direct result of the rubbish facilities being removed from the water points and put at the site entrance, quite a hike if you are down the far end.
In the main the site is very spacious and great for children to run loose. It is near Hertford town which is a busy little town with a market on Saturday. Plenty to see and do in the area, and London accessible by train and road. A good site that just needs the rules tightened up a bit for everyone's enjoyment.

We got lost finding this site for the first time as our satnav was insistent on dropping us in a newly built housing estate on Mangrove Road and the lack of signposts to the site didn't help matters!(we only saw one and that was on the main road)
When we eventually found the site the staff were polite and showed us straight away to our pitch. My partner needed disabled facilities and we were placed near to these as we had requested.
The disabled toilet and shower were spotless (a deposit of £5 was needed but is returned on leaving the site) as was the main shower block near us but this block did get busy and does get closed for cleaning around late morning / lunchtime and I did find myself hurtled out of there half way through a shower!
The site itself is immaculately kept and very pretty with flowers. We had a very peaceful first couple of days - well apart from the scores of children on bikes cycling past but as we were near the entrance this couldn't be helped.
If the site had an area for families only I would heartily recommend it. It was quiet at night and the town is handy for everything you need.
There is an amazing indian restaurant/takeaway called Dills which will deliver to the site and the meals that we had from there were the best that we have ever tasted!

Driving from the Midlands we had to turn right across a busy dual carriageway (in the rush hour) to get to the site. Don't take risks when crossing.
We received a warm welcome and good humoured banter from the two girls on duty and were duly given hardstanding pitch 13 on Friday 13th!
The pitch was easily big enough for our motorhome though we were a good distance away from the shower room. A pleasant walk across the grass in the summer, I imagine it would be a different story in cold wet weather.
Although the shower area was kept clean there's no doubt that it's showing its age and needs upgrading.
We use sites close to public transport and from here we had a pleasant 15 minute walk to the railway station and a train into London. A word of warning - don't get back too late as there is no pavement for the last 100yards and the road is unlit.
Hertford East railway station is next to Tescos so your groceries are close at hand.
The town centre can be easily reached on foot and seems to have many eating places and pubs.

Just returned from a two night stay at the site. Our first visit. I thought that the cost was rather steep, I know we are non-members, but even to members it seems steep for what is there.
The site is very well laid out and kept spotlessly clean. Showers are rather old, but kept very clean. I did have to queue and the site was not that busy! Large pitches which is nice.
We had a fantastic weekend and would consider going back. Just the cost is rather off putting. 2 Adults and 2 Children £65.80 for two nights!
Staff all seemed really pleasant and helpful. Childrens play area is very basic, but they have a very large area for playing ball games.
All in all a lovely weekend and thank you very much.

Arrived and got a £2.40 refund for being on bikes with no car, so counted as backpackers. Site clean and well looked after, as noted by other. Lots of space for our very small tent. Only snags were:
No pavement to the entrance so kids had to cycle the road for the last half mile. Few cars so ok.
Group on site staging a barn dance, so we had caller plus music to 21:55, which was a bit late for my kids wanting to sleep.
On the plus side, if you want excellent tea and cake or cooked breakfast, got to Serendipity in the town centre by Waitrose (not Starbucks next door!) About a 20 min walk or 5 mins by bike.

We have visited this site twice now and would highly recommend it to anyone. Both times we were greeted by the friendly and relaxed staff and shown to our spot without having to wait. The site itself is quite large, adding this to the six meter gap between unit's that the CC&C adhere to, you will always have the feeling of space even at busy times.
They have given area's of the site quirky names like 'millionaires row' and 'sloe run' which add's to the charm of the site.
The shower block's were always clean and well maintained and the shop stock's the basics.
Hertford Town itself is only a five minute drive giving you access to supermarkets and local shops to keep you stocked up, also the village of Hertford Heath is again a five minute drive with it's local shop and three pubs you wont go wrong. There is also a farm shop selling local meat and deli just before the village too.
On a rainy day if you are struggling with keeping children amused there is an indoor adventure play area next door to the site, look out for the adventure castle sign's before you enter the site.
We had some noise issue's with a neighbour playing his car stereo loudly one day and was forced to go and complain to site staff, I asked them if they could get the music turned down to a more acceptable level,'we will do more than that' was the response from the out of office hours staff, the music was promptly turned off completely followed by a grand tour of the park to make sure nobody else was being anti-social, now that's service.
We will be going back for sure and judging by a lot of the people we met there, so will they.

We stayed here with a group of like minded VW camper vans, we did two nights (as non members it cost £25 per night non-electric) I suppose it is, as already mentioned in a previous review, a little expensive but it is still worth staying. Being a bank holiday weekend, we did expect it to be busy.
The facilities were good, plenty of hot water. By the time they were closed for cleaning, they really did need cleaning but that isn't the fault of the campsite, rather that of the people using them!
The site itself is spacious, being divided up into smaller areas means that although it was busy, the area you were camping in didn't seem overcrowded. There is a nice dog walk around a small lake / large pond. There is a large park area for children to play.
We walked into the town which didn't take that long. Very pretty by the castle and river. There was a nice atmosphere in the town, even saw a narrow boat on the river while we were having a coffee at Starbucks.
The site was free from most traffic noise, which was lovely. We liked the site and will most likely come again, especially since it is only 15 miles from home. Finally, the staff; very friendly and greeted us with a smile. They were really busy but still managed to be polite and pleasant.

This is a really great site. The wardens are really helpful and friendly, the site is park-like in character with mature trees, plenty of open space and adjacent lake, and the usual club rule of 6m spacing between units. There are in fact two amenity blocks with comprehensive facilities, but one is closed in off peak times. They are both quite modern, kept very clean, and have really hot showers suitable for winter use without shivering, and which stay on without continually pressing those annoying press-buttons. I never had a problem turning these shower valves on or off.
I would definitely recommend this site and will certainly return again in the future

Stayed with Herts VW Club on a campout.
Was impressed with the site as this was the first time I had stayed at a C+CC. Reception was busy but the staff were extremely friendly, even allowing me to join there and then.
Only gripe I have was we had kids staying with us and as it was a Bank Holiday weekend there was a lot a kids on site and the facilty of two swings (one a baby and the other a seat) plus the small was slide was inadequate to keep them amused.
