We stayed here for one night to visit Falmouth (15 mins drive away) and I wish it had been all week! Fantastic site, huge pitches and excellent facilities with lots of local information leaflets in reception.

Quiet and friendly although I was put in my place firmly by a lady in a posh camper who didn't like me using the nearest water tap which happened to be on the edge of her pitch!

The site is divided into sections with well maintained pitches so you don't feel crowded. Didn't notice traffic noise but then I live in a city so probably wouldn't! Would definitely return.

I arrived on the Saturday at the start of the school half term holiday about 5pm and was amazed to find the site was full. However the duty warden was ever so helpful and went out of his way to offer me a grass pitch despite their policy of only using gravel pitches at this time of year. He showed real concern that it was getting late, and his welcoming attitude and helpfulness really impressed me right from the start.

The site was immaculate with plenty of planted hedges and shrubs, and the toilet and shower facilities were probably the best I've come across with no shower push buttons and really HOT water, ideal for winter breaks. No shivering under lukewarm water in these showers! The rest of the facilities such as chemical toilet disposal and water points were equally impressive. The site fees were at the high end, admittedly, but I can unreservedly recommend this site and will definitely go there again, making sure this time that I make an advance booking.

A Fabulous site. Although fairly big it is divided by mature hedges and trees so you only see a relatively small area around you. The reception is manned all day by friendly helpful staff. There are several amenity blocks on the site, all very clean and well maintained – ( the showers are unisex – my better half was just a bit uneasy about that). The grass is exceptionally well kept (better than my lawn) and the roads and paths neatly edged.

On arrival you get a welcome pack which has detailed routes of some excellent local walks (some involving excellent local pubs), and local info – pubs, garages, restaurants, caravan service / supplies etc. We paid £21.00 per night for a touring caravan with 3 adults (same price as the two other sites we stayed at this year) and consider this site excellent value for money.

This site does not have a shop or bar (local Spar shop half a mile), but there is a games field, a play area and a table tennis room. Being reasonably close to a main road there is some traffic noise during the rush hour but otherwise we didn’t notice it at all. Overall it is a superb site and we’ll certainly go back.

One of my criteria when picking a site is the proximity of a pub – the nearest being across the main road – unfortunately it is part of a chain Motel type complex and not what we wanted at all. However a short drive away there are many village pubs and the local beers are brilliant. “Doom Bar” is the best pint in my opinion (try also a pint of “Tribute” or “Betty Stoggs”). Food in pubs is a bit pricey but generally of good standard.

This site is ideally placed for visiting heaps of places – Eden to the east to Lands End in the west, far too much to list in between. Cornwall has something for everybody.

Just one tip…. Try to avoid going into or out of Cornwall at the weekend – the roads just can’t cope in the summer!

My thanks to previous reviewers. We chose this site on the basis of reviews here and were not disappointed. Super site, doesn't feel crowded even when full because of the landscaping and large pitches. Amazingly posh wash blocks but I was just as impressed by the number of trees which had been planted around the site making for a nice walk all round the perimeter.
Also great to be able to walk off the site staying on footpaths and bridleways which were a mass of wild flowers when we were there in May. Very well situated to explore Fal estuary, Lizard and Roseland areas or even further afield to north coast. Carnon Downs has good access for caravans and large motorhomes, no narrow cornish lanes to navigate to get here.
The one downside to the easy access is that there is some road noise. Not the cheapest site I've ever been too but then you can see that a lot of money has been invested here.

This campsite is lovely and open with lots to do. I went with my wife and we wanted an easy access pub however the pub across the road is part of a travel lodge complex and not what we wanted at all so we drove around a bit and ended up in a little village called Frogpool where there was a lovely little pub called the Cornish Arms. I would definitely recommend it! The toilet blocks were spotless and the close Spar was very helpful although there is a Tesco's, Sainsbury's and Aldi in the near town of Truro if you are needing a big shop! The staff were lovely and overall the experience was a great one! The only problem was the noise of the near traffic but you get used to it!

Hi I have not long come back from this site. I spent 2 weeks here is it was lovely and peaceful.

The new part of the site is quite open. The toilets, showers, laundry, disabled and washing up are the best I've ever been in. There all individual shower wet rooms with a loo and a sink. There's also the kids play area on sand in the new field. There is also a football/playing field in the new part of the site.

We stayed in the blue section of the site. It was so peaceful and the pitches were huge. We also had a picnic table on our pitch as well.

The site is 10amp but you learn to manage. The first toilet block has a family bathroom also a bathroom which has a sink, loo and a huge corner bath that's where I bathed my young son as he doesn't like showers.

Easy access as well straight off the island. Near to Truro and Falmouth and about 14 miles from Newquay. Pretty central really.

I would certainly recommend this site to anyone.

Out of all the campsites I've been to with a tent, this is the nicest I have found, but not the cheapest. The price is fine as soon as you enjoy their new shower / toilet blocks! The new toilet / shower blocks, are heated, clean and dry - made possible by daily cleaners, and cleaning poles. The shower cubicles have a toilet in them, so you don't have to dart between cubicles.

There are gravel paths, so you don't have to get your feet wet and muddy walking everywhere, but there is also grass, which means you can walk quietly past the caravans at night if needed.

There is a free freezer box facility, for refreezing ice packs in the middle toilet block. They have a fish and chip van visit on twice a week, and are only a short walk across the road to the a very nice family pub.

The staff at the Campsite are friendly, and they provide lots of brochures and information in their reception area.

The village is only a short walk away, where you will find a well stocked Spar shop, which even has a bakery and butchers section! The campsite is also a short walk away from the river Fal, and various pubs. There are various pretty villages to visit in the surrounding area and the King Harry Ferry is worth a trip on!

We went to Carnon Downs for a 90th birthday party, and are looking forward to going back in June with friends, to explore the local area a bit more!

A superb site! Immaculately presented even at this time of year. Received a very friendly welcome on arrival & all through our stay. Pitch was huge & hardstanding fully serviced. Plenty of room for large caravan, awning, big car & still some!
Very well drained site - gravel access roads meant everything stayed clean. We were on Jubilee field & the toilet block was pristine. Effectively heated & spotless. The en- suite shower rooms all had shower, bench, wash basin loo, radiator & were tastefully tiled throughout. Even the separate toilets had their own radiater & wash basin. All was very light & airy. Good enclosed dishwashing facilities.
There was a games room with table tennis, TV, books, games. Lots of pleasant walks from the site. Dogs were very welcome ( no charge) & even had water bowls provided around the site. No shop onsite but daiy newspapers were available each morning & there was a good local shop just down the road. Truro & Redruth easily accessible -

Would recommend the ATV centre at Redruth - our teenagers had a great time on quad bikes there.

Would highly recommend this site to anyone looking for a peaceful high standard site at a very reasonable cost.

I can only agree with the previous great comments about this fab site. Probably one of the best sites we've stayed on. You arrive to a warm welcome and a pack from the park that includes details of about 8 walks either directly from the site or further afield. I wish all campsites would provide information like this. It was brilliant and made for a wonderful walking weekend for us. The weather wasn't fantastic but everything else was perfect.

The site itself is hedged off into sections. We stayed in the Yellow section, which consisted of 12 hardstanding (all service) pitches. Our pitch, 8, was enormous. We were close to the main road (outside the site) but the road noise didn't bother us after the first night. It was hard to hear it over the gale force winds anyway!

There are currently 3 toilet blocks on the site and another under construction. 'Ours' was brand new and fantastic. It contained 12 individual rooms each with a shower, toilet and basin. Spotlessly clean and heated constantly. Even though it was Easter weekend and the site was almost full we never had to queue!

The indoor washing up area is also inside the block. This even had a radio for entertainment whilst doing the daily chore! There are numerous dog walks on site too. There is a pub within 5 mins walking distance from site but we didn't venture there as they DO NOT let dogs in.

Carnon Downs village has a spar shop open 7 days a week (about 10 mins walk) and there is also a garage and another Spar in Playing Place (approx 1 mile away). We were able to walk to Truro from the site (via the No 3 National Cycle Path) so mainly 'off-road'. It took about 80 mins from site to city centre.

The creek walks around Cowlands Creek, Coombe and Feock are wonderful and well worth doing - all straight from the site. We will definitely return and hope to do so later this year! Highly recommended site.

We stayed here on 18th 19th 20th and 21st October.

The Toilet Blocks were the best thing about this facility, there was a whole cubicle which contained Shower toilet and sink with a lockable door and plenty of space to get dressed without your clothes getting wet. There was also heating.

Where the toilet block is there is also three sinks and two freezers.

You receive a welcome pack on arrival containing walks around the area.

The Park is very well planned out and when we were staying building work was commencing to add more space as this site gets busy. Building work was not a problem.

The only thing is I am glad I took ear plugs because there is a busy A road behind the pitch we were on (plot 2) the traffic was consent. I don't know if you would be less aware of it if you were in a caravan.

We stayed on Tuesday through to Saturday Morning and considering we were near the play area we were never bothered but we were never there during the day.

This park probably has a average age of 50 and is a very quite site. (Please don't take this the wrong way, I am not trying to insult anyone)

We were charge £68 with electric which I though was really good as I am used to B and B prices

Overall I thought it was the best second camping trip I have had and will probably be hard to beat.
