Stayed at this site on the way to Solfest music festival.
Campsite is immaculate with well cared for lawns as good as a bowling green.
Had a bit of trouble finding the reception but once I did it was a friendly and cheerful affair. The reception also had a small shop with lots of local information.
The tent area was well serviced with electricity, fresh water and drain points. The camping area was flat with soft grass and the tent pegs were easy to insert by hand.
The facilities block was a bit dated and you need 20p for the shower. 20p Buys you a decent length shower though.
The site has a fairly new playpark which seemed to keep the kids amused. Paths and roads were all flat and well cared for.
Didn’t know about the clubhouse facilities until the next morning so didn’t make use of them.
Site is close to Carlise and Dalston. Dalston is about 2 miles away has a pub and Co-Op.

I spent the night here on the last leg of doing the Hadrian's Wall Path. The site is around 3 miles south of Carlisle so not too close to the path itself.
The facilities seemed excellent as the site is attached to a hotel and golf/fishing estate. The shower and toilet block were kept clean and tidy, although the toilets seemed to have rather stubborn doors (I shut one too firmly and had to wrench it open by the base of the door due to a lack of proper handle on the inside).
I didn't get much chance to see the overall site but it seems to be mixed with both caravans and tents mixed in together.
Close by is Carlisle which has a castle, several museums, shopping and a leisure centre. Dalston is even closer and has some shops and a train station. All in all a good site.

Visited this site at easter with my wife and two girls (aged 2/7) what a great time we had.
The owners couldn't do enough for us and that was the case from we arrived till we departed. The toilet block was clean and tidy but needing updated.
The new play park that was just opened was great and kept our kids amused for the duration of our stay. There is a small club house which was used by golfers and caravanners which was great to find out local information over a beer or two.
Just down the road there is the village of Dalston which had a small supermarket and pub ( which was excellent for food) and a super play park (next to the bowling club.
This site is well worth a visit as it's only ten minutes from centre of Carlisle but when on the site you would think you are in the countryside.
We will return to this site many times now that I have found it.

We used this site as a base when visiting the spectacular Carlisle fireshow. I think it's the closest one to the city - it's just under 3 miles away, on the B5299 just north of Dalston.
The site is being gradually upgraded; all pitches had electricity, hardstanding and personal water supply. The toilets and showers were adequate, but rather dated. We didn't visit the bar and restaurant on site, but it seemed fairly popular.
Bus into Carlisle picks up at the end of the drive and runs every hour.
Good site - would use again if visiting Carlisle.

We stayed at this site for a weekend with friends. The owner was very helpful and friendly and had arranged pitches for us side by side. Most of the pitches are hardstanding. The site is small but well laid out and well maintained. We did not eat on site as we had planned to BBQ and took supplies with us. The toilet block is old but there was plenty of hot water and they were very clean and tidy. We have experienced a lot worse ! All in all we loved the site, its only ten minutes into Carlisle and we will definitely be back !

Just spent 5 nights at this site. Country site 15 minutes from Carlisle - bus at bottom of drive. Site is in process of being upgraded. The owners have made great changes to pitches. Plenty of hardstanding pitches, well spaced, lots of room between each unit, well serviced with electricity, water & waste.
There is a 8 hole golf course which would please the golfers! Also a bar which serves some food. Nothing as yet for children but in conversation with owners found out that this is in pipeline. Owners very friendly and obliging.
Site is mixed between statics, mobile units and camping. It was easy to see that this site is going to end up 5* within a few years.
Having said all the above I feel I have to be honest about the only down side - the food! We like to go where I can have a rest from cooking but the food wasn't great. We tried it once and that was enough. However I would go back - just make sure I had enough in the fridge!

We stayed here for the 'Illuminating Hadrian's Wall' event and had a great stay. The site is about 10 minutes in the car from the centre of Carlisle. The very friendly and helpful owners have worked hard to improve this site with its gravel pitches with plenty of space and your own water tap and the usual electric points. However, toilets/showers are in need of refurbishment and when this is done this will be a great site. The owners have a lovely, but shy German Shepherd called Billy.
Good food (plenty and cheap) in the bar, and a fairly well stocked shop.
Would definitely stay again if we visit Carlisle again.

Ignore all the derogatory comments made on this site prior to 2006, because the people operating the facilities since then, present a considerably different approach to site management. They are warm, friendly, helpful and very accommodating in everyway.
The site is carefully and sensitively laid out so there is no overcrowding or feeling of intrusion. The toilets, showers and washing-up facilities are perfectly adequate and we experienced no problems at all.
The site is located in easy reach of various attractions and countryside in the region, but as yet there are no facilities, other than open space, for children's play. For adults however there is an exceeedingly well-managed golf course, a bar and small restaurant and a small shop.
We will without question be returning to the site next year as it is to be strongly recommended.

We travelled all the way from London to this site. My conclusions are:
The site is immaculate
Staff are friendly
Toilets are ok but inadequate and needs to be refurbished. You have to insert 20p for shower which is ejected at the end of shower. Remember to take you coin from the machine.
The soil is almost levelled and soft. Turf is well looked after.
You are allowed to park next to your tent but runs the risk of being stuck if it rains
Price is £15 per pitch and I find it reasonable for what you get
The gates of the site opens at 0700 and closes at 2200 meaning that you have to get to the site before this time if you have been out. You can still park your vehicle outside the gate and join your tent though.
Generally the site is good

Great site,a lovely location for touring the North West. Flat pitches and lots of hard standings with electric hook ups etc. Very clean facilities and well equipped. Lovely friendly welcome too. Club house on site, does meals though we didn't use it so can't comment on that. But we will definitely use the site again.
