Lovely campsite. Check in was great, very friendly staff. Toilets and showers were kept clean and tidy throughout our visit.
We didn't go fishing so cannot comment on that part. The pool was lovley though, the kids really enjoyed it, and at one point we had the pool to ourselves. Also kept clean and tidy.
We didn't experience loud music etc as per the other reveiw, but that's maybe because we got lucky with the quiet people that were on the site.
My little boy loved the club because he met friends and was able to play on the wii that they have in the conservatory.
Chemical waste is a little to be desired though, it is just a toilet, and when I had gone to empty our portable loo the previous person hadn't even flushed the chemical loo, so it didn't smell very nice at all.
We went into york one day and took the children to york maze. Highly recommend if you have children up to the age of 10.
We also went into selby one day, where there is quite a lot of shopping places.
All in all we had a lovely time.So much so that we have already booked to go again in august !

Just had two weekend deal at Cawood Park. This is a lovely site and a fab club house. The pitch we had was a good size but a little difficult to get on when site is full not much room to manoeuvre.
The thing that spoilt it for us was the lack of a warden which they state they have as people were playing extremely loud music all weekend on a constant loop and continued to do so after being asked to turn it down. Very rude and unnecessary.
We heard a few people had complained the previous weekend but it continued into the second week. We had booked a week there later on this year but will now not be returning as feel very let down by staff and not risking having another break spoilt as we go away to rest not to sit in an outdoor disco.

Just back from our first ever weekend caravanning in our new caravan. We chose this site because it is only 2o minutes from home (leeds).
We had blistering hot weather and we were pitched on number 7 about 30 feet from lake facilities are super although just starting out we have nothing to compare it to but we were so pleased we booked to go back next weekend. Only problem we had germany beat us in the world cup which we watched in the splendid surroundings of the new club house, which is second to none.
The shop reception was well stocked and the staff lovely, shower block looked new water and electric points a plenty, but there was an old toilet to lift your waste into which I found hard to lift.
Fishing lake was beautiful and swimming pool although small limited to 8 was clean and although cold very nice, all in all we will continue to visit on a regular basis

We had a fantastic time at this campsite but could only get in for two nights of the bank holiday and were in the open part in the middle. They then let us move so we could stay the third night in one of the bays which I thought were a lot better. This campsite is very friendly with great entertainment and very clean. We made a lot of friends and have booked to go again for two weekends in a row.
My only gripe is that the pitches are very close together and by the time your awning is up and your car in you cant see much apart from your car.
It isn't far from home for us so is great and love the fact that if you stay two weekends in a row you can leave your van there set up and ready for the weekend after.
Looking forward again to the entertainment and the friendly atmosphere of this site.

Just got back from this site. Had pitch number 2 next to the lake. Lovely and peaceful. Took wife and 2 children.
Small swimming pool on site. Advise to book. Toilets always clean as were showers. There is no kids park, but a large field for football etc. Free fishing is included in the price but beware out of 10 fishermen nobody caught anything but tiddlers. The kids really enjoyed it.
Entertainment on the night was spot on. All in all a really nice site and we will be back. Make sure you take the bikes for the kids as there are no swings etc.

Wow what a little gem, very friendly, swimming pool is great, only 8 people allowed in at one time, no probs. Club house fantastic, top quality acts on a sat night, good ale and lager not expensive either, good pub up road 15 mins walk great meals.
There's also a fish shop 10 mins drive away. Definitely coming back here again highly recommend it. Ok there is building work going on but wasn't noisy at all

Just retuned from 6 day stay on this site. Its our 3rd visit. 1 in October 2009. May 2010 and April. The site is well kept even with the work going on. Staff are very polite. Bar prices are good.
The toilets and showers are always clean and plenty of hot water. Some of the newer pitches near the lake are to small for an awning but there is a large choice of pitches around the site.
The only downfall was leaving the site as where I was pitched it was to tight to make the right hand turn and had to go the wrong way of there one way system to exit site. Marks on kerbs show others have had same problem. Having said that I will be booking again

Just returned from this site after Easter. Disappointed with the pitch, the back of our caravan was nearly touching the back of the one behind us.
Very muddy in front of caravan know we have had some bad weather.Farmer out in his field at 8 30 on Sunday night ploughing till about 10.
Toilets were very clean as were showers.

Just got back from an Easter break at Cawood. The site is well laid out and has good reception and shop facilities. There are plenty of electrical hook-ups and clean toilet / shower facilities. There is no play area for kids and with a large fishing lake on site, young children need to be watched.
The Bar and Clubhouse is nicely renovated but it you have children it is a bit of a no-no. All children under 12 have to be out by 10.15pm and as we have one that is 13 and one that is 9, it made things very difficult. This should be made much clearer on booking as we only found out when we got there. Had we have known this we would not have booked this particular site as we feel they are not being family friendly.
The surrounding area is lovely with York, Harrogate, Scarborough and Whitby a must. There is also a designer outlet shopping park just 10 minutes up the road towards York. There is a lack of places to eat in the immediate area so be sure to take plenty of meals with you just in case!

Just returned from a weekend at this site, in fact it is our 3rd visit, I must agree with the previous review regarding workmen and the noise, but obviously they are in the middle of improvements which will eventually make this great site exceptional when finished.
We go for the fishing and my son caught a huge pike which absolutely made his day and my husband also caught some really nice fish. If there is one small negative point, it is the exit, we had pitch 111 right by the exit and I lost count of the amount of people who could not get around it's very sharp bend to exit and had to reverse and retry, a few even nearly dismantled the gutter on the opposite building, possibly another improvement that could be done whilst the improvements are going on.
There is an indoor pool which is lovely and the club is really warm and friendly and quite good entertainment. There is a £10 returnable deposit for the barrier pass and amenities key. There is also a small shop which seems to stock every basic you could need including papers, milk and bread. Also each time you visit you get a sticker and when you have 4 stickers you are entitled to a free weekend, which cannot be bad. We will definitely be returning and would recommend this site to anyone, although do be aware of the building work at the moment.
