A really nice site, with the discounts we got a really good deal, but the access lane is a shocker, its 900 mtrs of a really bad surface, its narrow and the passing places are apart from a couple of half decent ones are only enough for 2 cars to pass, but even worse there is nothing about not coming onto the site before 12 o clock, it only says to leave before 12, I followed a caravan going out at 11. 30am and he met one coming in, he had to reverse 100mtrs to a suitable passing place, but it is a really nice site.

This was our second visit to this site and it wont be our last, an absolutely lovely site, very well run and excellent facilities.

We were camping with family in a tent and were really pleased when the wardens were able to set us up in neighboring pitches, this was in spite of the site being very busy due to Cromer carnival week.

The showers get a lot of use, there are two blocks but there were still queues at peak times. The toilets and showers were both clean and well maintained.

The site does have a very tricky entrance road, do not even attempt to get onto the site before 12pm, if a caravan or motorhome meets one coming up the entry road it is hair raising to say the least!

There are some lovely walks from the site up through the national Trust land but beware of adders, we spotted our first one just off the footpath.

The site is within easy reach of Sheringham and Cromer with Blakeney being about 30 mins drive up the coast and perfect for crabbing. It is possible to walk to the beach but you would need to be pretty fit and without small kids.

This year, I've camped at several Camping & Caravanning Club sites and have found them all to be run and maintained to consistently high standards. My most recent stay was at the C&CC site at West Runton and it did not disappoint.

The location is very good - the campsite lies between the resorts of Sheringham and Cromer and is situated in pine woods on a ridge of wooded heathland. In fact, the highest point in Norfolk (Roman Camp) is within a few minutes' walk of the campsite. There are also extensive coastal views from nearby Incleborough Hill.

The road access is adequate for cars, camper vans and small motorhomes but less less than ideal for larger motorhomes or towed caravans. The metalled road (Sandy Lane) from the A148 is narrow and the gravel track down to the campsite is even narrower and quite bumpy. Nonetheless, there were plenty of touring caravans and motorhomes on the campsite during my stay.

A barrier system controls access and the wardens live on saite near the entrance and reception. I got a warm welcome and booking-in was swift and efficient. As I have said in other reviews, C&CC sites aren't cheap if you are not a C&CC member but if you are the rate is very reasonable. For non-members, the cost is offset by the peace of mind of staying at such well-run and peaceful sites.

After booking in, I was shown round by the warden and offered a choice of pitches. Electric hook-up (EHU) is available on many of the pitches although I chose a non-electric pitch. There was a hard-surfaced access track conveniently near my pitch and I was able to park my car beside the tent.

The site lies on undulating ground and is enclosed by trees. Thus many of the pitches slope gently and there is plenty of shelter. The site is sub-divided into different areas by low hedges, shrubs and metalled access tracks.

The grass is kept very short, no doubt helped by the copious number of rabbits, and the soil is quite light so tent pegs go in easily. There are adequote drinking water stands, plenty of EHU outlets and fire points on the camping areas.

Dogs are welcome (if kept on a lead) and there are plenty of footpaths to walk dogs adjacent to the campsite. There is also a neatly-kept a play area for children.

There are two large-ish facilities blocks. Both are modern purpose-built units and are fitted out and maintained to a very high standard. There are plenty of washing cubicles and plenty of showers. During my stay everything was kept spotlessly clean.

Overall, this campsite is a credit to the C&CC. It has a really laid-back atmosphere and seems very well-run. There is a noise curfew at night and so the site was very quiet despite it being fairly full.

Highly recommended.

This was our 2nd trip to this site we were going to go to Manor Farm but decided to go to a site we knew, toilet and shower block always spotless.

We had a super pitch for the extra space, not like we needed it, our folding camper was lost on it (well almost) even the standard size would have been more than large enough.

This site does have a dodgy access road, you really don't want to go down it fast! We met a large 4x4 and caravan on the way down and there isn't much room for manoeuvring. But don't let that put you off this lovely site.

Cromer & Sheringham only a couple of miles away and great days out.

Lovely location - seemingly in a very large clearing on delightful forests and fairly hilly heathland. (Highest point in Norfolk nearby!)

Club directions to site suggest coming from the A148 rather than from the A149 coast road in West Runton. (We think this may be because the advised route uses a one way system rather than a the 2 way narrow road from West Runton. )

We weren't too keen on the quite rough, steep and winding 1/2 mile (single track with small passing places. )approach lane to site. Because of this it is most important to leave before 12 and do not enter say before 12. 30. Would be impossible if 2 towed caravans meet - one would have to do some very skilled reversing!

All that said site is so good - usual CCC standards - staff very pleasant and helpful. Chocks required on most pitches. Only about 10 hard-standings but sandy soil so well drained that driving easy even after heavy rain.

Excellent walking via 3 pedestrian exits from site itself - one at top of site takes you into the adjacent CC site - essential for us as the only way we could leave site using my wife's mobility scooter to get to West Runton Village, railway station and beach etc. (We are members of both clubs - but we weren't accused of 'trespass' anyway - in fact we eventually moved to CC site as being easier for disabled access to the bright lights of West Runton without having to move our Motorhome. (OK for mobiity scooter and dog on the train. )

TV reception quite good but no Wi-fi. (Guess who had just paid for 1 year's C&CC Wi-fi subscription!)

Last but not least we met some very friendly folks and our dog also loved the rabbits!

Recommended.

Stayed here the first May bank holiday weekend.

Site approached via an interesting Forest road. The site feels as if you are in the middle of nowhere, yet there are a few other sites only a stones throw away, but they don't impact on the wonderful sense of tranquillity at this site.

The welcome was friendly and efficient, fantastic facilities. Spotless and warm toilet block. Play area for the kids.

From this site there are some lovely walks. Heading north west you get to West Runton. Trains to sherringham etc. Or head north east to East Runton, good beach or if feeling more energetic carry along the beach into Cromer.

Whilst at the site on our last morning I dropped my watch. Reported it to reception, who were very helpful and said they would keep an eye out for it. Well later that day it was found. When we got home there were messages form the site to say it was safe. They were extremely diligent in packaging up and posting it to me at home.

Wonderful site and wonderful staff. We will definitely come back.

Wow! Love this site. Love the tree lined bumpy road to get to it, love the peace and quiet, love the lay out with a large area and smaller areas, loved the bird song. We were warned to take chocks but this was the first time ever we didn't need them!

So, review. Lovely reception on arrival, very friendly wardens and asked if we had a preference for where we wanted to be-near the ablutions- near the play area etc. The site was immaculate and being a BH week-end filled up very quickly. We never felt crowded.

The ablutions are top notch. And warm. I like the fact that the toilets are away from the showers and wash basins, although in the same room, I like the sense of privacy it gives.

The washing up area was spacious and there was always lovely hot water, both in the ablutions and the washing up area.

We took a short walk along the coastal path to West Runton where there is a small butchers that sells amazing meat; tea room, small supermarket and, joy of joys, a camping accessories shop.

Fish and Chip van came and was well received but we had already made a visit to the local butcher.

Cannot fault this site nor the wardens.

I have had several fantastic holidays at this site and can't speak too highly of it. I can't understand why one reviewer says that it is not a bike friendly site; it is just perfect for biking. I didn't realize till I got there that it is literally right next to the North Norfolk coastal path so my first ride out was delightful. Just a couple of miles on a lovely track straight into Cromer. I also biked on lovely quiet roads to Holt and found the area perfect for biking. The showers were clean and hot, the wardens very friendly and helpful and handy buses into Norwich from West Runton when I felt like a rest from biking. Thank you CCC for such lovely times. I'll be booking again as soon as you're open this year.

We have just arrived back from a great 5 night stay at this site. We arrived around 6pm on a Sunday evening, at 5. 30 we recieved a call to see how far away we were from the site and did we need directions, when we said we were fine and shouldn't be too long the warden informed us they were just checking and would keep the office open as we weren't going to be too long.

On arrival we were welcomed by 3 wardens who couldn't do enough for us, the one who showed us to our pitch was extremely patient whilst we decided which 1 from the options we would like. He was then very helpful in pointing out all the good and best walks out of the site and informed us of the local amenities.

The site is well laid out and most pitches are close to one of the two toilet/shower blocks. Toilets/showers are always available as they are cleaned at different times. They are modern and well looked after. The dishwashing facility is also well looked after and it's great to see there are drying racks in there too, an added bonus!

There is a lovely play area for children, the warden pointed us to pitches away from the area as we didn't have children which I think was good. There are plenty of areas to take the dogs direct from the site.

The site is in a great location for Cromer, West and East Runton and is set in beautiful surroundings.

The shop and reception opening times were limited and it was a shame that they don't accept cards on items in the shop.

A great site and we will be returning.

This campsite is very very peacefully, there no roads nearby and staff are very friendly and helpful.

It is not particularly bicycle friendly unless you are a member of the Caravan Club where you can use their roads to come out at a deliegtful Golf Club where you can eat or just have a drink and watch the golfers come ' in '

There are some great walks over all types of. Terrain.

The shower blocks are very good, plenty of room to move in the shower with lots of clothes hooks.

The pitches are mainly slopping, not much, but you need blocks unless you are on hard standing pitch.

Cromer is very busy with holiday visitors, and the town could be said to be ' going back in time' to the good old days.

A very enjoyable holiday camp, but it not cheap and it will cost you 20p to use the hair dryer.
