What a shame that most people head west out of this campsite (towards Cardiff). They don't know what they're missing. Stick around the Newport area and you'll uncover some absolute gems - literally. The biggest jewel in the crown is Tredegar House, right on your doorstep at this site. (Though, sadly, not open all year, but you can walk around the grounds). Take a look at the magnificent Transporter Bridge. By July 2010 you should, hopefully, be able to ride across on it again. Visit the museum and art gallery to see the original plans for the bridge,as well as fascinating material from the Chartist Riots. Nearby Caerleon was one of the most important Roman military sites, with an amphitheatre and Roman Baths exhibition. Big Pit at Blaenavon has to the best free activity in the UK. Plus the views from Twm Barlwm are wonderful.(from an article published in MMM Oct 09).

This is a Caravan Club site and is one of the best we have visited. The setting was superb within the grounds of Tredegar House. Newport is an ideal place to either break your journey or act as a centre. Many places to visit within easy travelling distance. The facilities were excellent and spotlessly clean. Within two minutes of the site is the extensive grounds of Tredegar House. A main road does pass close to the site but during the night the traffic noise was hardly noticeable. A bit noisier during the rush hours.

Really lovely site, slight noise from M4 but you can hardly hear it whilst you are there. Weather was good, only drizzled on one day. Hubby went to the Big Pit, which is well worth a visit he says. Friendly people on site, and just outside of the main entrance at reception is the Tredegar House, and the surrounding country park which is huge, and its great for the dogs to run around, and have picnics or whatever. Tredegar house is lovely, not a grand style house, but very pretty, just big enough to live in for most people I would say if you were going to purchase a big house / mansion type. Cant really fault the site and surroundings at all. Showers clean, very nicely hot, and well laid out. All in all a fab bank holiday.

This was our first time using a Caravan Club site and we were really impressed. We choose this site, as we were visiting relatives in Cardiff. The site is well laid out and the pitches are very spacious. The toilet block is immaculate and very warm too. The staff are friendly and happy to help. This site is also good if you have dogs as you have Tredegar House grounds to walk them, which also includes a play park for the kids. It is close to the M4 but the noise was never intrusive.
Tregader house is well worth a visit if you enjoy history, take your CC membership and you get a discount. St Fagan’s is well worth a visit, it is free to enter and a good day out.
In summary it is a very clean well laid out site, positioned nicely for Cardiff and lots of attractions We will definitely be returning to the site in the future.

Excellent shower block heated and very very clean. There are ample pitch spaces that are hard standing.Next to the site is a huge park which have play facilities and dog walking. The site is situated near the grounds of tredegar house. Which is amazing. And free. Also there is an asda almost next door and plenty to see near by. Welsh mining and a fairy castle but to say the least. Beautiful site and fairly priced. Well worth a stay

We have stayed at this site a number of times. The staff are friendly and helpful, the grounds are well kept and the toilet block is spotlessly clean and warm. There is a great pub nearby next to the travelodge or it may be premier lodge. Also plenty of buses to Newport and Cardiff. The is an Asda down the road. Well worth a visit

This site is very conveniently placed for an overnight stop, just minutes from the M4. Having said that, you do hear the M4 drone in the background during the evening and night (especially if you leave your windows open). This however, did not by any means distract us from having a lovely time.
The site is tiered, with well laid out pitches, so that you are not overlooked. The toilet / shower facilities were good, although looking just a little dated now. They were spotlessly clean, but could do with a little more ventilation. The washing up area was very cramped, but served it's purpose well. The owners were non-intrusive.
We stayed only for two nights so that we could visit the Museum of Welsh Life at St. Fagans. Which was absolutely brilliant. We were there for over 5 hours and still didn't see everything and it was free entry just £2.50 for car park.

This place is wonderful!
The staff are friendly and helpful and the whole place is kept clean and tidy. Toilet blocks are spacious and immaculate.
My son had fun on the quiet road with his scooter, I felt safe there and happy for him to play.
The weather was mixed but we all enjoyed despite the relentless rain at times! The only down point of our trip was waking up with bites all over us! We must have been on an ants nest or something! So if you are taking a tent, just to be on the safe side take some cream too!
Thank you all at Tredegar House, we'll be back again soon!

Immaculate, well presented site with friendly helpful staff, inspiring campers to smile at each other - so relaxing! gorgeous toilet / shower block. This will be a firm favourite for us. Tredegar Park is worth a visit by itself, a huge area to walk and play. We are eager to return to visit the 17th century house. Only drawback for tents is no electric hookup, but they are looking into it.

We live about 30 minutes drive from Tredegar House CC Site, and always seem to visit in the winter months mainly to stretch the legs of our motorhome and also to keep it aired during the darkest months of the year. Saying that though, I would duly stay at this site at anytime. The facilities are top class, and the winter wardens that have been on site this year are the most friendliest wardens I have ever come across on any Caravan Club site. The site itself is close to the M4, ok there is a hum of traffic noise in the background but it must seem like being in the country if you were to compare it with the M25! The Dragonfly Pub is close, we walked it took about 10 minutes, and it open all day everyday. The food it great! Asda is also a 10 minute walk. All in all a wonderful site.
