Have just come back from a lovely few days at Normanhurst Court. Weather was good but the ground was a little 'damp' so we were restricted to hardstanding (which was fine). Should have bothered with levelling blocks - everything had a distinctly 'downhill' feeling, but that was out fault for being lazy! Our children (9 and 11) enjoyed themselves although the play area was a little too young for them however they thoroughly enjoyed the grounds and patches of woodland (forests if you talk to my son!). Facilities were good as usual for caravan club site, the shop was basic but had milk, bread etc and the staff were helpful to my son when I sent him to buy milk. Area great for a break (3 nights was nowhere near enough).
The signposts for the site however could do with review, from the road you see the usual brown caravan sign (no site name on the sign), it is not until you are on top of the turning that you see the caravan club sign - we gave the driver behind us a very big shock when we indicated late to turn in.
Finally although the staff were generally very helpful, when on our last morning we all made our pre-journey toilet trip we were told in no uncerain term that the toilets were closed (even though the barrier hadn't been put up at that point). A simple 'sorry' would have made all the difference and would have left us with very pleasant memories of the site rather than a feeling of annoyance!

Fourth visit now - wardens are still very good and the site is lovely. When we were there a brand new play area had been constructed and was awaiting final inspection. Fish and chip van visited on Friday from 5.30 - 7.30 and was quite popular.
Normal high standards - going back in October!

Facilities and standard as you would expect from the Caravan Club's own sites. Two visits this year, separated by a month in France. Good job I'd booked as the weather knocked out all but hard standings at the beginning of July all back available in August. Plenty of rabbits on site too. Can be noisy at the higher road side area as the road is a favourite with bikers at all times of day and night. Loads to see and do locally - Battle of course and Senlac Hill are must do's; Then it's take your choice from visitor attractions, seaside, countryside. You could spend a long time visiting all that there is. We''' continue to use it as long as we have relatives near there, and for us in Scotland it's a good stopover before Chunnelling it to France (a leisurely hours drive towing). Has to be first choice for the immediate area although there are other sites and plenty of CL's

This was our second visit, although our choice of pitch was restricted to a hardstanding due to the torrential rain. As mentioned in a previous review some of the pitches are quite close together and a lot are uneven so bring plenty of levelling blocks. Shower blocks were of the usual high standard and the wardens were very friendly. The kiddies playarea was small but well equipped and there is an additional ball area which is fenced and is the size of a tennis court. Nice walks adjoining the site although your dog may be a little miffed as they have to be on a lead all the time (notices from the club and the landowners prominently displayed) Nearby Battle has a small Budgens supermarket and the the rest seems to consist of a lot of "twee" (i.e. Expensive) shops/delis/restaurants) aimed at the visiting tourist. The only real gripe about the site was that there was no recycling of bottles etc- according to the wardens the local council doesn't want to know! A nice site - will go back again

This was our first trip as caravan owners so thought we would try a club site. It was beautifully maintained and very tranquil even though it was pretty full. Did not use the showers or toilets as we had our own but other people did and am sure they were as clean as the rest of the site. The site is set amongst beautiful surroundings with rhododendron bushes which were in full bloom at the time of our visit. There was a nice children's play area and the site office had a few basic necessities including lovely ice creams. The nearest shops were in Battle about 3 miles away which also boasts Battle Abbey site of 1066 Battle of Hastings. We would fully recommend this site to CC members and non members alike.

May 2005 This is quite a large site and although it was quiet whilst I was there some of the pitches seemed fairly close together to me. It’s set in the gardens of an old stately home (long since demolished) and gives the appearance of a magnificent mature garden. The two toilet blocks are located at the top and bottom respectively and are convenient from wherever you’re located. They are absolutely spotlessly clean and of a very high standard. The wardens seem very helpful and friendly and there’s plenty to do on the doorstep.

March 2004 Great site for kids, with playgroud, small football area, basketball and table tennis outside.
Hilly site, some grass, some hardstanding, you will need some levelling blocks.
Wardens very helpful, good information room, 2 toliet blocks, with only 3 showers in each so can get busy.
Lots of nearby attractions, Bodium castle and battle abbey and only about 20 mins drive from Hastings.
Lovely walk from the end of the site about 1 1/2 miles to a local pub, whilst passing horses.
Have been back twice since our first visit and will go again.

August 2004 This site you will need levelling blocks as its quite uneven. Some grass some hardstanding.
Good play area, with football area, basketball, and table tennis. Cycles are allowed and there is a nice walk (about 1 1/2 miles) to the local pub through the back of the site.
Two clean toliet blocks, usual Caravan Club standard.
Lots to do in the area, Bodium Castle, Battle Abbey and the seaside town of Hastings.
