Very friendly staff at the site always point you in the right direction. The club house is very nice and the restaurant serves very good food at good prices. Nice little shop sells all the essentials at very reasonable prices. My two kids loved the pirate ship play park which was situated right across the road from our tent pitch. Showers were clean with hot water, toilets were also spotless. The ground at the tent pitches is a little lumpy with some rabbit holes and very stoney in some places but not to bad as to put you off. The only complaint was noise late on with teenagers shouting and people chatting (sounds like shouting at 3 am)in adjacent caravans but most campers are bedded early so cant grumble, a little noise is always expected. Loved the site and booked another weekend in august before we left.

Visited Elie campsite for the first time in March. Could not find fault with anything. The facilities were excellent. The campsite is well placed for walking and the number of wee coves we found for picnicking were amazing! The wardens were great and knew the area very well, so could give us information of where to go and what to see. One small criticism, lol, pity they could not have stopped the cold wind we had to suffer on the last day of our visit! Highly recommend this site. Will definitely go back.

Shell bay or the new snotty name to cash in, Elie Holiday Park Campsite itself was nice enough, with a pirate ship play park for the kids which is situated right across a road from the pitch,
The campsite is well placed for walking, The area around the site is ok bit not for poor walkers,
The toilet facilities were poor but ok as were the showers but not a high standard but ok,
A lot of noise late on with teenagers shouting and people talking around the adjacent caravanners who as us were not happy and no security on site to assist,
The wardens when you could find one were good and they knew the best area and give us good information of where to go off site and what to see which went down well as the site has not a lot to do,
The pirate ship is dangerous for kids but looks good but all it has is a rope and pulley no swings or decent things for young kids to play on so take care and be warned it is dangerous for young kids
But the thing that killed it for us is the road in which is a joke and the attitude of the manager,
When we mentioned the condition of the road to him his reply was if your not happy with the road condition then don’t come back
So in short reply we wont be back

Spent 4 days here last week and would highly recommend for families. The toilet block and showers were spotless, the playpark was amazing its a huge pirate ship with loads of climbing frames etc the kids loved it.
I had my 5 grand children aged between 5 and 10. There is a shop on site selling basics and reasonable, no alcohol sold in shop.
Take away and restaurant very reasonable and entertainment in the club house with money bingo every night. What I liked was the security staff who were always on site and very approachable.
As I am a novice (second time) I was worried about getting things wrong but all the other campers were more than willing to help.
A fantastic site, will be going back in a week or two.

We stayed at this site for 1 night, very nice drive into site. Playpark for kids at entrance, then reception, pub, restaraunt, amusements & shop all attached together. Very large site with tents, campers, caravans & lots of statics.
We had a very good pitch beside beach with electric hook up. Toilets were clean. Showers could do with a mop & bucket to be left for everyone to clean up as they were covered in grass. Not sure if they have hairdryers.
Restaurant provides very good food, large portions, good value for money. Bingo is played at 7.30pm (won £88)then entertainment about 9pm which was a band not our type of music though. Pool table in bar, drink prices were fair.
Shop provides all the basics, papers, milk, rolls, breakfast food etc. Also kids toys.
Only downside to this site was the noise during the night, dogs barking & people partying on. If I never had a trip to the toilet I would never have heard them.

Just returned from Shell bay, not a great weekend weather wise unfortunately, although think this site would be windy on most days, but plenty to do.
Campsite itself was nice enough, very big due to number of caravans - I didn't like this but just due to having been used to smaller sites. £19/night for 8 man tent, which seemed reasonable.
Very short walk to a nice enough beach, lots of rock pools for the kids to get stuck into - watch out for the jellyfish though! Small park on site, which kids were happy enough with (it's due an upgrade for next year, apparently starting sept - giant pirate ship, which looks great).
Toilets were always clean (£10 deposit for key), showers weren't particularly clean, but think due to large numbers using, water always hot, but not enough ventilation in cubicles so you couldn't get yourself dry no matter what!
We made mistake of not using our guy ropes - the first two days hadn't been particularly windy and all was ok, the main reason had been we wanted to save my two year old nephew from the 101 trips that were guaranteed if they were out! However on the 3rd day, we'd been away early doors and all was calm, didn't return till late evening when the wind had really whipped up and our tent was practically collapsing in on itself - thankfully a couple of the caravanners that had been on the site at the time had saved it from further damage or blowing away completely and stabilised it as much as they could!
Didn't use restaurant or on site entertainment. Shop sold very basics and toys for kids. Staff all very pleasant. Saturday night was extremely noisy, curfew meant to be 11pm, but music blaring untill well after 12!
Overall, I didn't like this site but only due to it's size, but was great as we didn't actually spend much time there as so much to do in area. Elie has lovely beach and quaint high st, harbour walk in anstruther + an amazing chip shop! kellie castle was a disappointment, adventure park needing massive upgrade, woodland walk very short. Great swimming pool in leven.
Brilliant park with woodland walk to a beach in kirkcaldy.Great base for young families, as everything no more than 20 min drive.

We camped with our 3 yr old and 1 yr old and dog for 2 nights. Staff really friendly and helpful and site good. Showers and facilities clean and well maintained. Play park really good and kids loved it. Lovely walks and plenty to do in surrounding area St Andrews sea life centre, swimming pool at Leven is really good (inflatables on a sunday are great fun), great fish/chips at anstruther well worth the wait in the cue.
Overall a lovely site, but the noise was a problem when the club closed, shouting teenagers till about 2. Cant be avoided with a tent but this was a really noisy site compared to others I have visited. Great if you are out to party not so good if you are up at half six in the morning with a one year old.

This is a great site!
Had a lovely hardstanding pitch 3 rows back from beach front very easy to get van in and out of.
Great playpark suitable for all ages my 4 & 5yr old boys loved it and we could keep an eye on them from the van as good view.
Very windy but to be expected on coast. Beach suitable for walks etc but Ellie which is only 5mins away in car has the most gorgeous beaches I've seen in Scotland. There is also a lovely coastal path going right from beach at site leading straight to a lovely secluded part of Ellie beach (quite a trek but well worth it!) Also leven swimming pool which is around 15min drive is fantastic for kids of all ages we visited it twice during our stay.
Shower blocks were very clean and well equipped. Plenty hot water at all times.
Did not use the bar and restaurant facilities but heard good things about them while there.
Very quiet site during week days but when Saturday hit all the tents arrived and we were only 2 rows up from them and it was loud with teenagers wandering around caravans drinking until around 2am.
That was the only drawback to the site if you don't stay too close to tent area you wouldn't hear anything at all.
Very family friendly site and fantastic for dog owners as plenty of good walk areas around beach and woods.
Will be returning within next few weeks and will probably use Shell bay as our main spot for long weekend etc.

Very nice site, did have a problem at the start of holiday with a storm and my daughter covers got soaking, the site warden kindly opened the laundry so we could get them dry.
The toilets were very clean and tidy. Staff we very friendly. We did have a caravan pitch right next to the tent area so we could get EHU. You do need to pay £10 deposit for toilet.
The tent site was just as you came into the site right next to the play park which was handy for us we could let our daughter play and we could keep an eye on her. They don't have restriction on the size of your tent, where some site do.
Shop was a bit of a walk from tent pitch and was only open a few hours in morning and a few in afternoon. There is a bit of noise at night which has to be expected when in a tent. Will be going back as really had a good time.

My husband and I bought a small tourer in June and we went to shell bay for a few days. We were parked beside the beach which was ideal for dog walking. Also the part of the site we were at was quiet. It is a very clean and well kept site and we have visited a few times and intend to go back once the season starts again. There is bingo on at night also entertainment on during high season a playpark for kids and also a well stocked small shop. As it is only about 30 mins from our house it is very easy to get to
