We have stayed here many times in both a tent and a caravan. Like everyone else has said this is a great campsite. Plenty of peace and quiet in beautiful countryside surroundings. Clean modern facilities and huge pitches. Lovely feeling of space around you. No playground but loads of room for children to run about.
Great base for exploring the area or just chilling out with a good book. Loads of walks. Take your bikes. Traffic free cycling to suit all abilities from from family friendly tow path which you can ride for miles, to lung busting mountain climbs up on the brecon beacons.
Would be nice to have wifi to cater for the less energetic teenagers' needs but other than that it's just right and we'll be returning many more times.

I love this site. Its my third visit. What's new?
New shower bloke is fantastic. And was a much needed improvement.
The camp site is in the middle of the village on the foot of the canal that reaches to Beacon. Better still they have 2 pubs on the door step and an other a spitting distance away. They all served really nice food and drinks with a warm welcome.
This is the place to come if you want to walk in the Brecon Hills or walk a flat canal walk. Most importantly they have pubs on the canal walk further towards Brecon.
Currently my Number 1 Camp site

Lovely surroundings and a very friendly village.
Ground was decent and easy to put tent pegs into! Facilities were very clean and a short walk from even the far pitches.
There is a river running at the back of the site which makes a nice place to pitch. The site itself is well sheltered from the fabled Welsh wind which helped make the stay even better!
A true gem for camping whilst having a walk into the Brecon Beacons. A short 20 min drive to the start-point car parks makes Talybont an ideal place to stay for walkers.
We had dinner in the local pubs which were also very friendly, and had decent food.

This was our second visit to this site and corresponded with the end of September heatwave - very lucky!
We returned because we were really impressed with this site - it is surrounded by beautiful scenery ( hills all around it)and the EHU pitches are around the edge of the field and are very big. There are water points within a few yards of every pitch.
The centre of the field is kept free so there is feeling of spaciousness. Miles from 'big' civilisation so the sky at night is fantastic.
Just across the road is the canal where we went canoeing. And just 150yds from the exit lane there is an official access point for canoes to the Usk.
Great site, good facilities, lovely surroundings, friendly owner and reasonable rates - we'll definitely be back next year.

Really enjoyed this site. It is very spacious with lots of room between pitches. There are no hard standings but lots of EHu. Toilet shower block very clean and airy but limited to 2 showers and two loos in the men's.
Across the road from the entrance is the canal. Excellent for easy walks.
A few yards down the road are two pubs which are very good for food and real ales. Village stores about 50yds away for all those little things you forgot to bring. Site owners very unobtrusive.
Will definitely use this site again.

A really lovely site and one that we will definitely be going back to. Situated right in the middle of the village, and therefore within 3 mins of 2 pubs, a cafe and a shop. There are 4 pubs in total in the village, but only ever found 3.
The site itself has 2 fields, 1 smaller for tents and a huge field for vans/caravans with electric hook ups. All the pitches are grass, very level and massive. Water points are positioned all around the field. The only criticism I would have is that the grass was a bit long and the grass cuttings tended to get brought into the van, but that really was a very minor irritation.
Canal runs right through the centre of the village and the walk to Llangynidr is lovely (especially when the pub there has a beer festival on!)
As well as the canal walk there are lots of lovely big mountains all around, so a great base for walking and exploring.
We ate in the Star and the white Hart, both of which were good, the Star being the best of the 2 and more popular than the other. We did take a walk to the Usk Inn which wasn't the most inviting food wise, and we changed our minds about eating there.
So all in all, a first class site in a first class location

This is the second time we have visited this site and this year was even better than last. There is a new toilet/shower block, for men, women & disabled and the room inside them all is massive.
Hairdryers are also wall mounted in the facility. A new washing up area is also attached to the block with plenty of hot water.
We were in the bottom field this time, plenty of space between each tent, two water taps and refuse bins.
The cost for two of us in one tent was 12. 00 per night but that was with no EHU.
This is a lovely site and we will probably be there again next year. If you need more info please read my last review July 2010.

As previous reviews, friendly owners. On knocking in farm house door, I was shown on a plan of the site my pitch number.
The EHU field is quite large mostly caravans, non EHU field is a lot smaller only 7 pitches. Which are large and well spaced out. Plenty of water taps, bins and fire extinguishers.
All pitches (EHU) appeared to be large.
Grass is kept short. If the pitch is empty the grass is cut.
The shower block is new and the cubicles are huge. Showers (2) are non electric and push tap operated. Temp is pre-set at just the right temp.
Soap is provided for wash basins as are electric hand dryers.
Utility room has two sinks, wash up materials but no freezer that I could see.
As a single camper I was charged £10 per night which is at the top end of my budget but you do get a lot for your money.
Local shop and cafe 5 min walk from site. 4 pubs in village, all do food. (2 of them are by the canal and 5 mins walk from site)
Lots of walks nearby. Talybont Reservoir will take 1.5 - 2hrs along marked trails.
Brecon about 6 miles has Morrisons and 2-3 outdoor shops for your camping needs.
The site has a no noise policy from 10pm
It also has a One Way system. The Way Out is through a gate in the right hand corner of the EHU field. This leads you out to Station Road, turn right for village or left for A40
If the Utility Room had a freezer I would give this site 10 out of 10
This is a site I would return to.

We have only started camping with our children this year and have been to a couple of campsites where it was very noisy until the early hours. This is not good when you have small children. I had read the reviews for this campsite and gave it a try for a weekend. What a great find.
We were greeted by the friendly owner who told us exactly where to pitch. The new shower block had just been finished when we arrived so she charged us just £8 for the pitch ( just in case the hot water wasn't working).
That price will definitely be more next season as the shower and toilet block was clean, in good working order and had plenty of hot water. The site is well maintained and level throughout with drinking water points dotted around the site.
No shop on site but a local shop just 100 yards up the road. There are 2 pubs nearby serving decent food throughout the night and day and a great little cafe next door to the local shop.
Site is surrounded by beautiful scenery and is a working farm, so plenty of animals for the children to see. Most important all campers adhered to the rule of no noise after 10.30pm which was fantastic for us and the kids getting a good night's sleep.
I would recommend this campsite to anyone and will definitely be returning next year.

Lovely position with fine views and great for walking, either direct from site or a short drive in any direction. Very very large pitches as mentioned in a previous review and we were sited in the large field with power.
The smaller field looks like it could get a little tight for space. The main issue here is completing the new toilet/shower block, which will totally change this particular site and I'm not sure it will be ready by the end of season 2010.
Three pubs in the village and we sampled two, so you have the option of self catering or eating out all within a short stroll. Would revisit but only when the new ablutions block is complete, so if you are camping only then check first, as the mobiles / caravans are self contained.
