The campsite is next to a road and there was quite a lot of traffic noise.

The toilet was a single portaloo on one side of the field which we found very cramped and uncomfortable. You need to take your own soap to wash your hands.

The shower, when it is finally installed, will be another portaloo size thing.

Washing up facilities are a large metal trough next to the toilet with a hose pipe connected to a cold tap.

Pitch sizes are 14m by 14m and the site was less than half full so there was plenty of space for the kids to play.

There was no access to the pond described in the owner's description.

If you like your camping very basic then this might suit you. We won't be going back.

On the outskirts of Fordingbridge approx 1 mile to walk back into the village.

Good points: quiet; family run; cheap; marked up large pitches; big area for the kids to play; dog walking field on site; great information pack and bin bags on arrival; and bacon sandwiches orderable in the morning (although we made our own).

Bad points: loo is a portaloo and was extremely smelly even after 1 night only; Shower is a portaloo / shower that wasn't up and running when we stayed but we were informed so no surprise to us; One sink only that is used for washing and washing up; no hot running water; and the entire site on a slight gradient so my son kept on rolling out of bed through the night.

However with all that said, its their first year of doing this so they are on the right tracks. I'd definitely go again but perhaps schedule a swim at Sandy Balls and get a shower etc.
