We were looking for a site within an hour of home so that caravan sceptic friends could come and visit us whilst we were away for the weekend. This site fitted the bill more than perfectly. Kept spotlessly clean and tidy the site was great, although full it never felt over crowded or too busy.
There were lots of trees with the pitches spread throughout them which was really lovely. Although we could see the flyover of the motorway from our pitch and could hear it, it certainly didn't affect our pleasure on staying there although we were in a caravan so I don't know what it would be like staying in a tent - There are earplugs for sale in the reception for a minimal amount.
The wardens were very friendly and helpful and helped with the relaxed atmosphere.
The play area is aimed at children younger then our two boys (8 & 11) but worked well as a meeting place for the children that were staying there. There is a really great play area within 5 mintes walking distance that works for all age children.
The site is also very close to the river so we went for a long walk along there staying at the lock watching the boats move through which the boys (and dog) enjoyed too.
The only downside that I can think of is that although there are plenty of pegs in the shower cubicle it could do with a stool for things like glasses and watch - that's the only negative I can think off!
I would certainly recommend this site - we're very likely to go back for another short break.

Just spent a cold Jubilee week at this wonderful camp site. Its in a great location for visiting London and the theme parks - Legoland, Thorpe Park and Chessington.
We were lucky to have our pick of pitches and were located next to the play area which our kids enjoyed. We were also close to the toilets which were nice & clean. They also have a camp kitchen with microwave, fridge and freezer which we found very useful.
Its a small very friendly site next to the Thames, lots of nice walks.
Its only downside is being next to the motorway, this didn't actually bother us, I found the hum of traffic helped to get me to sleep! It was the birds twittering at 4am that woke me up!
We will definitely stay here again.

Our first visit. Wow, we loved it here. Beautiful well kept and secure family run site. Stayed 4 nights in a motorhome.
The wardens were very helpful. Clean modern shower block and even a microwave for tenters.
Great little playground, safe enough to let the kids play unsupervised. My 5 and 7 year olds thought it was fantastic.
Close to Legoland and many other attractions. Will definitely return again.

We visited Amerden for a 4 night stay from Easter Saturday as a base to visit Legoland. The approach was easy, being only a few minutes drive from the motorway although the very last part was down a single track – luckily nothing was coming when we arrived or departed. It’s only a small site anyway so that cuts down the likelihood of issues.
The owners were very welcoming and the site doesn’t really have set pitches which helps to keep the grass in good condition as the warden can ask people to site in different areas of the notional pitch areas.
It has a nice feel to it as units are not just lined up in regimented rows. As previously mentioned, the motorway is literally at the bottom end of the site but the low hum of traffic was much less of a disturbance than noise we have encountered on some more rural site we have stayed on – don’t let it put you off.
The facilities were spotlessly clean, well heated and had constant hot water. The showers were the push button type with fixed shower heads but each push lasted around 20 seconds so this was not particularly inconvenient.
There is a camp kitchen with microwave, fridges and freezer for customer use which is very thoughtful, especially for tent campers.
The small play area was much appreciated by our 8 year old but he preferred the exceptional playground by the nearby village hall which was only a short and very pleasant walk away along the river.
As mentioned by others, Amerden is great for visiting Legoland which took around 15 minutes each way so we were able to visit 3 times. We bought Annual Passes with our Tesco Clubcard vouchers which cost us £22 of vouchers each.
As well as unlimited entry into the park for a year from the date of purchase, they entitle you to discounts of 20% in the park restaurants and 10% in all the shops as well as free parking.
Because we were able to go lots of times, we were able to gauge queues and got on everything we wanted to over the course of 1 full day and 2 afternoons with very little waiting.
The rides were much quieter in the afternoons and we were able to ride over and over again. We also went into Windsor and went on a boat trip along the River Thames which we all enjoyed.
We enjoyed our stay at Amerden so much that we would have extended our stay had our stay-at-home teenagers not texted that they were running low on food!
Only the traffic noise prevented a 10 star rating. We are sure that we will visit again over the next year while our Legoland passes remain valid.

We visited this lovely little site over Easter for our son's 3rd birthday and a trip to Legoland. We had a great time and would thoroughly recommend this site. It is small and very friendly. The owners were very helpful and the site was immaculate. You can hear the noise from the motorway but it is a constant hum and you really don't notice it at all. The facilities are good and were very clean. Only 3 sinks for washing up and 3 showers in each block but its such a small site that we never had to wait. The children's play area is small but great for our 5 and 3 year old and they loved it. We had requested to be near the play area and we were right next to it in a lovely spot which was perfect. The river is only a couple of minutes walk away with a lock to sit and watch the boats go by. Our boys loved it and the lock keeper let them press the buttons to open the gates which they thought was fantastic. The site is perfect for visiting Legoland (but never go on a bank holiday!) and Windsor Castle. The boys loved both despite the queues! There is a Sainsbury a few minutes drive from the site which was handy. All in all this is a great site for families and we would thoroughly recommend it. We will be back!

My first time camping and absolutely loved the experience.
There was a group of 8 plus 2 dogs.
The campsite was well equipped and extremely clean. I like my home comforts and felt at home with the warm showers, hair dryer, washing line and electrical points.
Nice surrounding areas with nice walks to bray and dorney and sainsburys just up the road too.
Despite being by the motorway by the 2nd night we used to the noise.
I felt very safe walking around the campsite on my own at night.
A very enjoyable experience.

Very easy to get to about 5 mins from motorway
Welcomed by site wardens who were very helpful and informative. site was very clean and easy to manoeuvre into our pitch, which was large and spacious (next to kids play park and as this closed at 9pm this wasn't an issue for us as 2 of our kids 11 and 8 spent most of the time on the play area).
Really nice walk, 10 mins at most, along side of river Thames and under M4 to superb play area which puts our local parks to shame, interactive equipment and swings and swing seats that were brilliant even for my 15 year old and our little man of 17mths.
Legoland 20 mins away, no more than, but get there early: 9.30 is ideal so set off at 9am and buy the qbots, they are expensive at £40 each (excluding entrance fee) but we all got on rides 3-4 times, on a very busy day hot Monday in August
Yes you get some noise from M4 but that's not a problem in the day as you either aren't there or the noise from kids playing etc. drowns it out.
Night time my wife didn't struggle to sleep, although I woke at about 5am from the drone of the traffic
Good site reasonable rates
Great facilities
Camp kitchen a superb idea
Worth staying at
Will stay again

Stayed at this site either side of a day trip to Legoland Windsor. From the reviews it seemed like the best one locally, and if we go again this would certainly be our first port of call.
The site is definitely well drained, on our journey there we came through a torrential rain storm (drains overflowing, lots of surface water). The level site meant we were pitched quickly, and by the morning the few puddles had gone.
Toilet facilities were very clean, and plenty of them. Having got a soaking setting up our pitch, I was greeted by the three words I love to read at a camp site 'Caution, Hot Water' - if only it was always the case.
Although no shops within walking distance, they did have a vending machine which stocked a few snacks at sensible prices and you could order a cooked breakfast nearby. Back in the car and it's only a few minutes from Tatlow, and are considering returning there and using as a base to explore London in the future.
Kids enjoyed the playground, although only had a chance to use it on the morning we were leaving.

Just got back from a great week at this campsite and we agree with the other reviews that this site is the best we have stayed at and could not find fault with anything. The facilities are well looked after by the wonderful wardens and owners and we will definitely visit again soon.
Everywhere is clean and tidy and the wardens did an amazing job of keeping everyone happy and helping where ever they can. The kids loved the park and made lots of new friends as did we. The atmosphere is very relaxed and would recommend this site to anyone wanting to visit this area.

We used this site as a base for visiting Legoland and London.
The wardens work hard all day maintaining the site and it shows, the facilities were very clean and in working order.
Taplow train station is a 5 minute drive away from the site, we parked the car here and got on the train into London and on following the advice from the wardens we found navigating the underground system much easier and cheaper than we expected.
The noise of the motorway didn't bother us at all, you just get used to it, although when we got back home our house seemed really quiet.
All in all a really lovely site which we would definitely visit again.
