What a lovely welcome we received from the owner, who showed us to our pitch and explained about the local walks and eating places.
Nice flat pitches with plenty of room.
Clean and warm toilets and showers, which were much needed as it was a very cold weekend.
Nice little playground for those with children and clean and tidy pot washing area.
We walked through the field to the lane (I lie, we ran as the cows didn't look too friendly) and you must turn right as you leave the field unlike us who turned left and ended up across the border and miles from anywhere!
We found the Blacksmiths Arms for a drink and The Whitehart to eat in lovely food, great value for money but we had to wait ages for our food.
My only gripe about this site is the showers, they are too high, I am 5'6' and the spray comes straight at me, I didn't want wet hair but there was no escape, the jet is so high it comes over the top of the shower curtain, only me out the 4 of us thought it a problem though.
Otherwise a great site and 4/4 would return
I shall have to wear a shower cap.

What a find, just returned from a 4 night stay at this lovely campsite, set in really peaceful surroundings and kept spotlessly clean. We had a warm welcome from the owner on arrival and was helped to our pitch. The shower block is really clean, warm and the showers are amazing. All hard pitches are level and have grey waste on pitch. There is a BBQ to borrow on site which is a nice touch but it rained for our stay.
Site has a small play area and a separate field with football nets in for kids to run around in.
As in directions on site be careful not to miss turning and end up at the neighbours farm as the entrance approaches quickly.
We will definitely be using this site as our weekend get away with it being 45 minutes away and we couldn't recommended more

This was our first campsite that we have used in the UK and what a fantastic choice.
The location was only and hour and a half from our home, so we were prepared for a quick exit if things didn't work out, we needn't have worried.
The campsite was easily found and the instructions were very clear and precise.
On arrival we were shown to the very generous grass pitch. We quickly pitch up the tent and bits. We had an electrical hook up included in the fee.
The campsite was vey neat and tidy. The aspect was peaceful and the site was well laid out.
We did a quick tour of the grounds and we were very impressed with the amenities block. The toilets and showers were very clean and well stocked. The pot was area had hot enough water to use to power the Queen Mary. We found a base that we could use for our disposable BBQ. So that was an added bonus. There was also a large BBQ for the more organised to use.
There was also a small playground available but as we were both over the maximum age limit we had to give it a miss.
On the wall of the toilet block was the bus time table, we were impressed to see that there was a bus, from right outside the camp, to Alton Towers resort. We took the bus, for a £5 family return ticket, and it took us directly into the park. We had previously bought the Merlin Family Pass so the whole afternoon out only cost us the bus fair.
We had a very peaceful night.
The site is a must for anyone in the area. We will be using it again the next time we want to go to Alton Towers or Uttoxeter races.

Just come back from a one night stay at this site. A really nice peaceful site. Well laid out and kept tidy.
The facilities are great with very hot free showers. The owners were very welcoming. We had a mix up with the pitch we set up on and had to move to another pitch later on in the evening. The owner gave a full refund for our inconvenience which was very generous of them.
We didn't explore the area as we were only there for one night but there is a pub half a mile down the road and I believe there are some lovely walks in the area.
At £8. 00 per person per night with hook up I felt it was good value for money.

We have just spent a week on this site and can highly recommend it.
Access to the site is excellent, directions given by the owners were very clear.
The pitches for vans were lovely and level, half grass and half gravel. There were 2 water taps so you don't have to walk far for filling up your hog!
There is a nice play area for younger children and older children can use their bikes.
Electric points are well spaced. The showers/toilets are the best we've ever used! At first I thought we may have problems at there are only 2 showers plus one in the family room,
But I think as most people here are staying because of the close proximity to Alton Towers, they were free from around 9 am as people had left to have a full day of thrills by then!
Both the showers and toilets are immaculate, I had no need to wear flip flops for fear of grottiness! They are also lovely and warm all the time, so even if you visited in colder months I'm sure they would still be comfortable.
There are shaver point and plug for hair dryer. The only slight bugbear are the timers on the showers I think I had to press about 6 times during my shower but I understand the reasons these are favoured.
The chemical disposal point Is also the best we've used. No toilet without a seat here! A hose for rinsing and a purpose built disposal unit makes a horrid job bearable!
I forgot to say in the loos there are drinking water taps too!
The washing up area is also very clean, 2 sinks and stainless drainer area, and boiling hot water! Bring your rubber gloves !
There are recycling facilities for glass and plastics but sadly none for card/paper so we've taken our home!
We liked it so much we stayed 2 more days, luckily they could fit us in and were very accommodating. The lady and man that own the farm are very friendly and welcoming.
The area itself is very pleasant, there is a lovely farm shop and cafe in Denstone well with a visit, a small craft shop very nearby that has a very busy restaurant book 3 days ahead !
We had a very muddy walk to Dimminsdale which was very nice and we visited the Ramblers Retreat tearooms but I was disappointed here, very expensive and mediocre cream tea, whipped double cream and jam portions of strangely brownish 'strawberry' jam. Cream teas should be clotted cream and good jam in pots! The cakes on offer were meant to be home made but there is no way the caramel shortbread my partner had was homemade unless it was in Mr Kiplings house! they did make a good cuppa though! Maybe I've been spoiled in the West Country!
The whole area is very beautiful and very peaceful, you can only hear the screams from Alton towers if the wind is in the right direction! The price of the site is very reasonable too, for our party of 2 adults 1 child it was £20 a night all in!
We would definitely return to this site, hopefully soon!

We chose this site for our very first caravanning experience and it really does tick all the boxes! It is relatively small, approx 10 hardstanding pitches and a few grass pitches. The pitches were very spacious with lots of grass area by each one.
The toilet block and showers were absolutely spotless and brand new. They were cleaned both days we were there and she did a really thorough job both times. I was a bit unsure about using site facilities and we went for a van with a separate shower for this reason, but I didn't hesitate to use these, and if all sites are like this our shower will never be used!
The kids (aged 4 & 2) loved playing on their bike and scooters straight in front of our van, it was really safe as we were at the bottom so no through traffic. It helped as there was another young family and my girls made friends with them and they played for hours! There is a small play area at the entrance to the site which was good for younger kids, and a separate field to play football etc in.
There was also a walk round the perimeter of the site but we didn't attempt this as we overheard some people saying it was quite muddy - well we have had a lot of rain recently!
We didn't see much of the surrounding area, although Alton Towers is only a couple of miles away but our kids a bit too young yet. We did nip into Alton to find a shop and although there is a small one, there's nowhere really to park, and the road through the village has not much pavement and is quite bendy, so was difficult with the pushchair.
Very quiet at night, and very dark on site so you need a torch if you want to visit the loo after dark!
Overall, a great site, very very clean, very quiet, exactly what we hoped caravanning would be like, would definitely recommend it. Just hope future sites are of the same standard because the bar has now been set!
Final point, great value compared to other sites at just £16 per night for the 4 of us inc EHU.

Stayed here on Friday 13th July for a ghost hunt at Alton Towers. It's literally 5 minutes from the park - on the road that take you straight there.
A new site, only opened two weeks beforehand. It's a tidy little site with great views.
The new purpose-built toilet/shower block is very very nice - possibly one of the best showers I've had on a campsite - and I like to stay on 5 star sites normally. Very new, very clean.
Friendly owners who showed us to our pitch.
No complaints at all with this site - although we were not there very long.
Hookups were available and there was a play park there for kids.
I would stay here again - but only if visiting Alton Towers.

We spent Friday night to Monday here. We booked with family and got 2 Pitches next to each other.
The owner, Kieran, was very friendly on the phone and very helpful throughout all of our stay. This site has only just opened. - first week in July so we were one of the first visitors. Slight negative is that they don't accept cards or cheques so it's cash or bank transfer. I imagine this will change once they are established.
The site itself is small - just 15 pitches I think all with electric hook up. 5 hard standing, the others grass. The hard standing are half hard, half grass. They seem big enough for a decent sized caravan and awning although we only had a porch awning.
Facilities are limited. Just a toilet block and showers, waste water point, chemical waste area and washing up area under cover, with a playground and a football area away from the pitches. However this is what we like so it was not a problem.
Kieran offers a half drum barbeque plus a big throwaway barbecue for 5 pounds. It includes the spatulas etc. Bargain.
The Toilet block was brand new and pristine. 2 loos and 2 showers per sex, plus a family bathroom with a shower, basin and loo in one room. The showers are push type showers. Kieran has had to change the temperature as they were a little too hot for children but again I think this will settle. A nice touch is pots of flowers/plants near the washing up area, and some laminated information about what's on locally, including local buses to Alton Towers theme park.
Playground is small but perfect for per teens. The football pitch is great to keep slightly older entertained.
The site is only about 5 minutes drive from Alton Towers, so I imagine it will become very popular.
All in all it was perfect for us - a quick visit to Alton Towers and the rest of the time spent at the campsite. Great. If we are in the area again we would definitely go back again.

We have just spent 4 nights at this site, which had only opened for the first time the previous week-end.
The owners were very welcoming, pleasant and helpful throughout our stay.
There are 15 pitches, all with 16 amp electric hook up. 10 on level hard standing and 5 on level grass.
The toilet / shower block comprises:
Two toilet cubicles, two showers and two wash hand basins with electric shaver points for men.
Two toilet cubicles, two showers and two wash hand basins for women.
A family toilet / shower / wash hand basin with baby changing facilities, which doubles up as a disabled facility.
It is all brand new, as I write, and in excellent condition. There was plenty of free hot water and good showering facilities with electric hand dryers for all the wash hand basins.
The undercover washing up area comprises two sinks / drainers with free hot water, which are excellent.
For £5 the owners can provide a decent sized, portable barbecue for nightly hire. The price includes cleaning after use. A nice touch.
The site has a 'drive over' drain for grey water disposal and a 'drive alongside' drinking water tap.
There is a dump site with water for the disposal of chemical waste.
Rubbish disposal is provided in a large 'wheelie' bin.
We chose this site because of it's proximity to the 'Alton Towers' theme park which is just over 2 miles away.
The site is very quiet & peaceful with a play area for children and a good sized, mowed field where a ball can be kicked around.
The local pub is about a ten minute walk away on mainly level ground and there is a general store about a mile away in the village of Alton.
Unfortunately, wi-fi is not available because of the poor reception in the area. This is out of the control of the owners.
We really enjoyed our stay at this well thought out, family run campsite and would recommend it to other users visiting the area.
