We have been to this site before and thought it was back to basics, but beautiful then. The co-owner has now taken charge and is making some improvements, but without spoiling a beautiful campsite, ie. Fixing fencing, cutting back hedgerows etc. Well worth a visit. Newly refurbished shower and toilet block, basic but clean. Close to Battle and 1066 walks and 15 miles to Hastings. It is back to basic camping, which is what we like when we go away and the camp pitches are on two levels, which makes it seem very secluded and private somehow. One local pub, The Squirrel, which serves very nice food - and a good pint. Cant wait to go back again.

Just turned up after making a hurried exit from a site in Bodiam where we didn't stay long enough to put the tent up. Very warm welcome. Set in a wood with small openings for caravans. The tenting area had wooded pitches and more open pitches, some very private. The toilet facilities were small, old but clean and served their purpose. Weren't allowed a camp fire but could have a barbecue as long as it was raised off the ground. Stayed for one night, very relaxing and quiet, Will be going back there for certain.

Managed to fit us in over the Bank Holiday weekend despite booking late. Owners were very friendly and accommodating. The site is pretty basic with only one toilet block but the showers (one male, one female) are free and water was lovely and hot. Tents are pitched on a split level site in a wooded area which offers some shelter. There is also a small rustic play area for children - all made with the local wood - watch out for nails! For caravans there were several small wooded areas each with space for half a dozen caravans which offer some privacy and a shelter. The site shop stocks some basic food supplies plus a good selection of brochures / tourist information. The only downside for us was that all the recent rain had left the clay soil extremely soggy but the birdsong and the fantastic bluebells made up for it.

I stayed 2 nights in this campsite and really enjoyed myself. The facilities were pretty much non existent (just a very cold toilet block and shower) but that was what attracted me to the site in the first place.
It was easy to camp away from everyone else in secluded areas with some pitches having some great views over the woods. Perfect for a weekend beark away from it all! However, some of the pitches were on a slight slope so if you mind waking up in one corner of your tent then this may not be the campsite for you
