First visit to the site and had requested a pitch near the facilities. On arriving we found it one of the best pitches on the park. However after having several days of heavy rain prior to our arrival, it was in pretty poor condition with mud everwhere.
The staff did an excellent job giving out straw to the affected pitches and were always on hand to give help.
The toilet and shower facilities could do with updating but I have seen worse at other parks.
The site itself is in a great position with a decent beach a short walk down the lane. The pool and entertainment were first class and couldnt be faulted in any way.
A great park for families in a prime position.
But it would be an excellent park if the toilet and shower blocks were updated.

Returned to this site in the school summer holidays having previously been impressed when we visited in May. Unfortunately we were disappointed this time. They just didn't have enough staff or the facilities to cope with the number of people on site. Queues in the shop really long if you went first thing in the morning or at tea-time, and the shower/loo block in the camping field was not cleaned for 3 days during our stay. Swimming pool equally packed with people queueing for 45 minutes to get in. I see from previous reviews that they put straw down earlier in the summer when it was very wet. That's still down so you have to contend with mouldy straw coming into the tent. This has the potential to be a fantastic site; the setting couldn't be better, and they have some good facilities in place but until these are upgraded to cope with the number of pitches they have when full I will stick to visiting out of peak season.

Large camping fields.with pre bookable pitches. tents are on a separate field to the vans. We went in very wet weather the field was having a problem with drainage but straw was provided immiediately to help. We had no electric hook up through choice but spoke to quite a few people that would have preferred electric but these get booked quite far in advance. The toilets and showers are clean and fine. There are Plenty of water taps spread out. dishwashing facilities are fine and covered. There is a slight slope to the field we were on. The on site facilities are good, a great indoor pool (not free! but cheap enough) pub/restaurant. teenagers area, Great club with kids morning club and evening entertainment. There is a nice clean soft play area for smaller children. The onsite entertainment in my opinion is the best we have been to, they are friendly and great with the kids, keeping them amused in lots of rainy weather. I went with two teenagers and two under 11's and found that this site catered for both ages well, there weren't any bored moments. The shop is good selling a range of items, onsite cafe good, with fair prices, and reception always friendly and helpful. On the whole I wish the weather had been better but this is a great site, that I have visited many times, with a beautiful beach and a lovely quaint village a short walk away (10 mins down a lovely footpath). I will return again.

OK just back from our tour of Devon & Cornwall which included 5 nights at Ruda. I would agree with most of the previous comments with some great facilities. The stay was ruined by the the truely atrocious weather which turned the place into a mud bath. we were on the camping fields rather than Croyde Burrows where the toilet block was very good. That in the camping field was not that great the toilets were tatty and in need of an upgrade and the showers didn't possess a single hook for clothes. It was very difficult given the weather and the fact it is a surfers site to keep the toilets clean but a bit more attention to detail would have been preferred. Still thats the moan over, the location is superb for one of the best surfing beaches in the area and we will probably be back next year but with the caravan and making sure we are in Croyde Burrows.

What a great site! Excellent shower block in the touring field ( Croyde Burrows) even had a bathroom in both male and female blocks, ideal for bathing the children. There are only six showers which was fine while we were there but could get busy in the height of summer. A 5 minute walk to the beach and a 15 min walk through woodland to the village. The site is very well kept and very very well drained! (We were there during very bad weather, heavy rain most days) The bar and club have been refurbished this year, and there is an excellent swimming pool, our only criticism with this is residents have to pay to use the pool and in bad weather it can get very busy with lots of non-residents visiting. We will be returning without a doubt, but hopefully the sun will shine next time!

Hi we've just arrived back from a really great weekend break at Ruda. First it is easy to get to, booking in was simple. As usual all the tourers are shoved in one field out of the way, but saying that what views. The wardens were really helpful, the pitch was fairly level. The water taps were a bit of a walk they could do with more and evenly spaced. The toilets were very clean and the showers were hot and FREE. The main complex was only five minutes walk, swimming pool great the bar and shop prices were a bit steep but not as bad as some. The evening entertainment for the kid's was very good, but after the "all stars" came on and were that bad it was hilarious, a fifty pound budget for the entertainment team per season but still we enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it and will be returning this year. Good fun all round, clean and tidy and very friendly

Spent 3 nights at Ruda over half-term; 2 adults & 4 children in our group. Slightly sloping camping field at the top, but not so bad that you rolled downhill in your sleep. Excellent childrens playground - under 8s area, plus a more adventurous assault course for older children. Playground checked daily by staff who checked that things like bark chips under equipment had not been scuffed away. More loos and showers than I have ever seen in a campsite, and kept clean too. Water in showers almost too hot though; safer to take children to onsite swimming pool to shower. Swimming pool lots of fun. You do have to pay admission - it's open to the public too - but it's half price if you're staying onsite, and the kids loved it. Plenty of washing-up sinks with unlimited hot water. We had a standard camping pitch; all pitches are a really good size (we took an 8-berth tent plus 2 cars, and we fitted onto the pitch easily). Although the camping field looked fairly full it didn't feel overcrowded. Also onsite is a fish & chip shop, small supermarket and a restaurant / bar. The supermarket and swimming pool have variable opening times so take care. The restaurant struggles to keep up with demand in the evening; people were waiting at least an hour for food orders. All staff onsite very helpful & friendly. The best thing is that the site is directly across the road from the beach. The beach is clean with lifeguards in attendance. The waves are big though and the tide moves quickly; it's only safe for younger children to paddle at the waters edge with close supervision. Although it's a big site it doesn't feel impersonal, and the setting on the beach is great. Already planning to go back in August

A nice site in low season but too packed in high season. The beach is very close and very beautiful but it is also a very dangerous beach and I have witnessed many rescues on this beach during the last few years. There is a deadly rip current at low tide and no warnings for families about this.

Stayed in hired Static van before we had our motorhome, nice cheap mid week break at a great park which is not too oversized. The facilities were great and the pool was brill! Croyde village is superb and within a very short walking distance of the site nice fudge shop, icecream, and pubs. Beach was a stones throw away and is safe and sandy with a good amount of rockpools for the children and adults alike.

Ruda's main site is quite noisy though not over so, and is mainly for tents and statics. The shop, club, pool etc are very reasonable. The great thing is that with a tourer you are sited across the lane on Croyde Burrows which is quieter and nestled in behind the dunes 100 yards from the beach and great surf. The pitches are flat and most are generous in size. We have been here a lot of times at various times of the year and it does take a lot of beating ! Adjacent there are great coastal walks to Baggy and Puttsborough. The Thatch in the village provides a great meal reasonably priced. The Pink Shop and to be fair the site shop are very good and well priced for hiring boards, wet suits etc. Woolacombe, The Tarka Trail and Exmoor are very close by. Try it in October when the sea is still warm and the sea is raging . great fun! It is a must I promise.
