Fantastic holiday wanted to go to Scotland for ages and found this campsite on the Internet that allowed dogs and was cheap. 14. 5 hours travelling later we arrived to find a very helpful friendly owner/manager who showed us to our static van. We where showed around and told how everything in the van worked and allowed to settle in.
November was cold at night and the van took a while to warm up in fact we took the bedding out of the second bedroom to keep warm at night but it all adds to the fun of being in the highlands.
Only one thing went wrong during our stay something to do with the gas bottle connection but that was sorted immediately.
As other people say the site is easy to find, it is an ideal distance outside Inverness the views are amazing from the sites water edge, shopping is close. For someone who wants to explore the highlands this is a great place to stay.
The shop looked a little basic but on further inspection seemed to have most things you may need along with a computer to use if my memory serves me right the shop also has a number of leaflets to give you a good varied choice on places to visit along with an owner with good local knowledge.
Towards the end of our week in the van the only niggles starting to come up was the sofa's not being very comfortable to sit on, when it gets dark as early as it does in November sitting on them for any length of time is a little un comfortable but to be honest any caravan cushions could give you this problem.
Over all I can’t wait to go back, maybe we will this January if roads are clear enough to get there from the Isle of Wight.

Well - I will start by saying in enjoyed my visit here, but perhaps it might not be totally representative of everyone's experience.
Firstly October tends to weed out the last of the summer campers. Secondly I stayed on this site for a couple of nights before I tried to run a marathon in Inverness. And this might just have had an effect on the customers that weekend. Read on.
Ok - the site is easy to find, and should hold no terrors even for those towing HGV sized caravans or driving mega motorhomes.
The location is lovely - there are many static caravans on the site, most of which look to be family owned, and I actually found it quite nostalgic, looking back to when my mum and dad had a static in the 80's.
The site is well kept. The roads are tarmacked (after all it was invented up here) and as a tenter there were no issues about driving off the track onto the grass to get a good pitch.
The lowest part of the site is on the firth's edge. Obviously it attracted me but at the time there was barely anyone else on the camping section. There are three or four good solid picnic tables on the section of grass closest to the firth's edge too.
With the benefit of hindsight, it became obvious that everyone wanted to be on this bit, plus it does incur a certain amount of foot traffic from folk wanting to walk to the tidal zone, the odd fisherman, and so on. In a nutshell the view's just as good 30 metres back, probably less windy, and closer to the loos. No harm done but if you want your privacy, don't head straight to the obvious bit.
The loos and showers were ok - no bad smells but a little chilly. The showers do have a lovely Heath-Robinson system to operate what we'd all recognise as the Mk I push button shower tap. I am sure I could work out a way of wedging it on so I didn't have to wash with one hand but I didn't have the time.
Other facilities - there is a camp shop although I never looked in there. There is this lovely little wagon 50 metres from the camping area that seems to do breakfasts and suppers too. I was amazed to see they had opened by half six in the morning the day of the marathon (early start for all) but I didn't quite fancy a bacon and egg barm.
Ah yes the marathon. Having come to a virtually empty site on Friday morning, and seen a few souls drift in Friday evening, by dusk on Saturday you could not really have pitched a large tent due to the number of campers there. It must have been a campsite manager's dream.
There was only one or two lights on as it went dark, and then complete silence. Perfect! When I fell out of my car the afternoon after, everyone had gone apart from one tent and a campervan.
In summary I'd suggest that this is an excellent site from what I have seen of it. I'm quite happy to recommend it and go back again.

Stayed at bunchrew for 4 nights. Very nice staff, extremely friendly on the telephone and when booking in at the site office. Facilities good - plenty of hot water in showers. We were not given a allocated pitch, but were able to choose where we wanted to stay.
Well situated for getting into inverness town or for exploring around and about. Found the food wagon handy (even though we didnt use it ourselves). The shop was well stocked).
Well done bunchrew, we hope to see you again when next in bonnie scotland.

Upon arrival at Bunchrew, we were checked in by the very helpful and friendly owner. The camp site is in a beautiful location, right next to the water and it was fantastic waking up in the morning to such a sight.
We did find the site very busy, noisy and a bit higgledy-piggledy; people plop tents in any location rather than plots so it can be a bit of a squeeze and you can be surrounded by noisy kids. Because of the layout, the noise fills the site until late at night. If you pitch closer to the shop, you may find it a lot quieter.
We did also have a lot of trouble getting the pegs into the ground due to stones.
In terms of facilities, the shower/toilet block was clean but we found the showers to be a little awkward - they were very very hot (non-adjustable temperature) and you have to keep pulling a chain to keep the water going - a little frustrating.
The shop is well stocked and there is a food place on site were you can grab meals and the lady also makes packed lunches. We didn't eat there though so we can't vouch for how good it is.
Overall, an attractively priced campsite in a lovely location - just pick your pitch wisely!

I stayed twice on my way north and then returning. This is a lovely site with a fantastic view and I managed to park my small vw campervan close to the water with fine views across the Beauly Firth.
The site was crowded which made it impossible to use the too few showers. Long queues meant I gave up on each visit and left the site showerless! Noisy residents at times with no control over the noise level of music etc. Expensive at 14pounds per night (no hook up) and lack of shower facilities.

I really don't know where to start with this site at all.
I booked this site 4 weeks before we were due to visit, we arrived at site and there was a problem with out booking. We were then put on a grass area right behind the shop / reception as site was extremely busy, this was fine until we went to hook up electrics, there are none in that area so an extension cable hook up was then passed out the back door of the reception for us to hook into.
We got ourselves sorted out then watched the comings and goings glad we arrived when we did as people coming in after us were being squashed into areas they should never have been in. 1 unit was put right next to the bins / skips, literally 2 feet away from their window another unit was told to go straight in front of another 2 units A frames.
There were far too many caravans packed on this site, well over the amount they say they take.
In the morning the queue for the showers at one point was over an hour long with people sitting around in their pyjamas on the grass outside, which is the tent area.
Over the whole weekend there was a lot of noise late into the night, after 2am and footballs and rugby balls being kicked about all over the place by a group of older French teenagers.
In the sites defence it was the weekend of Beladrum music festival but if a site says it takes a set amount of units it should stick to this and not let in more than it can cope with just to take advantage of the extra money.
We booked what we thought was a lovely idylic site in a beautiful setting and ended up staying on what felt exactly like a festival site. Any other time I'm sure the site would be lovely but this experience has completely put us off, we won't be back.

Very nice site. 4 year old enjoyed the sandpit, although it's very well used. Showers were clean and hot. Food wagon was good for freshly cooked breakfasts and dinner - sardines as well as usual burgers. Only odd thing was the ice cream van that visited at 10:30 pm on Friday and again Saturday with it's tune going! Didn't wake the kids luckily.
It was very quiet apart from that after 10pm ish.

Stayed for two nights during the week. We were pointed to the camping area and told we could pitch where we wanted as we did not require Electric Hook Up. Pitches were not marked out so people were pitched in different directions with ample space between tents so you didn't feel on top of each other.
My only criticism would be that there were a couple of camper vans pitched in the same area as the tents and we personally found these to be slightly more noisier when they were outside than the other tenters - but it wasn't that bad. The toilets and shower block were basic, but clean.
There was a hairdryer in the ladies toilet block, which was free to use. The ladies' shower block had four shower cubicles with plenty free hot water. The dish washing block also had plenty free hot water. I did not use the laundry or the shop.
The food van is static on site and opens in the morning and evening and seems reasonably priced, we had some chips for the van on the first evening, which were fine. Where we were pitched there were excellent views of the Beauly Firth and it was just five minutes drive to Inverness.
It was our first camping expedition, so have nothing to compare it to yet, but we would definitely visit this site again if in the area and would strongly recommend it.

Campsite was really easy to find, right on the shore of the Beauly Firth with beautiful views up the Firth and out towards the Kessock Bridge. When we arrived, the warden was friendly and helpful, told us our options on where we could pitch for access to hookups.
As previous reviews have mentioned, there are no marked out pitches so it was great to pick a spot that suited us and not be pitched in regimental lines. There are picnic tables scattered around the site, free for anyone to use, a nice touch.
The toilet block was basic but always spotlessly clean and well stocked with soap, toilet roll etc. Showers were also very clean with piping hot water and nice large sized cubicles, a definite plus when you have small kids to get washed!
The charge for hookup is £2.75 per night which we thought was very reasonable. There is a shop on site, opened during the day and early evening and as you'd expect, just the essentials and some toys etc for the kids to buy.
Playpark area was well used by our kids and others on site, good big grassy area that had goalposts and some rope swings in the trees.
The Landmark outdoor adventure centre in Carrbridge just outside Aviemore is about an hour's drive away and was a definite hit with the kids.
Even after a night of torrential rain over the weekend, the excellent drainage on this site meant that we were not knee deep in mud the following morning.
We would agree with previous reviews regarding the statics on site - there are some which are in need of some TLC. However, other than those being a bit of an eyesore, we couldn't find any fault with the site at all for campers and caravanners alike, everything was clean and tidy with a relaxed and friendly feel to it.
All in all, a very nice campsite for a relaxing break, definitely one added to our 'favourites' list.

We stopped here for two nights, arriving around 8pm. Tents have the best location, right down by the water and as pitches are not marked we were able to put the tent up where we chose.
The small catering van was very handy as an alternative to getting out the stove for a hot drink after pitching the tent. Showers were clean, and the water was piping hot by 9am, although seemed to be cooler at around 7am, so it may pay to wait until it has heated up properly. There is free use of a hairdryer.
The site is beautiful, set among trees, and the views over the Beauly Firth are absolutely stunning. It was very peaceful; the only sounds were birds, bees, and the occasional train rattling along and whistling as it passed a level crossing.
We didn't use the laundry or the children's playground so can't comment on these. There is a small shop on site which has the essentials. Bikes can also be hired. Inverness is only ten minutes drive away and Loch Ness and the Black Isle can both be reached within half an hour.
Staff are friendly and helpful, even taking the lid off my Trangia stove for me when it got stuck. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. This is one site I would definitely return to.
