As we were taking our granddaughter to see the historical beamish centre this was the only site which was logistically available. Stay was for 2 nights. Saturday and Sunday.
Toilet and shower facilities inadequate for the number of pitches occupied.
Pitches are small and Caravanners could have difficulties where pitches are on a slope.
On the perimeter there are static caravans. The occupants seem to be there for the duration. There appears to be no site supervision. Children were running wild and out of control. Saturday night the noise of children and intoxicated adults went on till midnight.

Access to the site is by fairly narrow roads but with generally enough room to pass oncoming vehicles. We blocked the road on entry as there is no space to park your vehicle while signing in. The site can be quite sloping and getting the caravan onto our pitch was very difficult as it was on a steep hill. The pitch itself is poor grade hardstanding with what appears to be road rubble and broken bricks, consequently pegging out an awning takes a while and a good supply of pegs as you'll bend plenty. The pitch is also the smallest we've ever seen - we couldn't fit our porch awning on the pitch without moving the caravan over to one side so far that our water tank had to be placed up the hill of the pitch. We had to park the car off the pitch between the caravans.
The surrounding location is beautiful, with plenty to do in the locality, and the views from the site are stunning. However, we found the site quite rowdy to the early hours of the morning at weekend nights. Although I accept that's down to the people who frequent the site, it would have been nice if the wardens had done their rounds for the sake of the rest of the customers.
The toilets and showers are reasonable, but we only found 2 showers in the male toilets for the site which wasn't much for the number of people there. We found the wardens indifferent and the shop average. For people wanting to visit Beamish, you can't get much closer.

I found this caravan site very expensive. They charge top rates for a below average camp site.
I paid £30 for my pitch per night and they charged me £4. 00 for putting an awning up. My sister and her husband stayed for two nights at £6 per night and because they stayed after 11. 00am on the following day they charged an additional night.
Toilets and showers ok, but only 2 toilets and two showers for male and the same for female.
When I booked asked for email confirmation but didn't receive one. The prices quoted were not as high as the prices charged.
On arrival at the site the attending staff were stressed and not very helpful. This was the same for my sister and her husband when they arrived. Not nice after a 4 hour journey.

We stayed for two nights on our way back from Scotland, The staff was very friendly and helpful
This Site is well kept with clean showers and toilets
The site is located close to the Beamish Museum which offers a fantastic day out and the reception staff issued us a 25% discount voucher on entrance fee for the museum, a big saving thanks
Overall the site offers good value for money
We will be back

The directions provided weren't that easy to follow but the camp site can be accessed from several directions so it wasn't a problem. Staff were friendly and helpful, security was impressive with a swipecard barrier and toilet/shower block. The site had a mix of statics, tourers, motorhomes and tents. Good size pitches and plentiful water supplies, if I had to be critical the rubbish disposal was inadequate for a site this size but not too problematic. The showers and toilets were adequate and clean if you went after midnight, the provision of a mop and bucket would have meant that campers could clean as they went and this would have improved matters somewhat.
The site benefits from a clubhouse/bar, a children's playground and sports field
This is a good site in a beautiful setting and I would go there again.

Very hair raising road to the site, hilly and narrow in places. We was lucky not to meet another caravan on the road. On arrival it is gated so you block the entrance until you can register and pay £10.00 for swipe card for entering and leaving and for toilets. The man serving us was not very helpful just pointing the way to go. When we found our pitch after a couple of laps of the site. We realised why we could not see a gap as a tent had pitched right up to our space. We had paid for caravan and a full awning. We could only put the caravan in and no space for car or awning. We complained and was given another plot. This was better but as previous comments the awning was on a slope.
We stayed 4 nights from the Saturday til the Wednesday. As the weekend passed the site got quieter so was a lot more pleasant as the kids went. We tried the club once and again the service was not friendly he only spoke for the money. The area is nice for walks and local pubs the site apart from being a bit crowded at times is quite pleasant.

Stayed for two nights. Thought it was expensive at £25 per night for a small pitch without electric.
Toilets were filthy to the point of being unusable. Whether they had been deliberately soiled or not that evening I'm not sure, but I didn't want to take a shower there in the morning.
Pitch was ok. Ground was easy to get pegged into. Just felt as though it was over-priced.
Ok for a 1-2 night pitch if you're visiting Beamish for the museum, otherwise I'm sure there are more attractive and better value sites to be found in the area.

The pitch was flat and the setting is lovely out in the country.
The toilets/showers are not near the tent field. The showers and toilets were cleaned at lunchtime and then that is it until the next day. We actually went home as we live near rather than use the toilets. The dishwashing facilities are near the toilets and there was no hot water after we had carried all the dishes.
On the plus side there is two parks, one with a zip wire (this was closed Sat and Sun!). The other park has swings and is near the pub. The bad language etc could be heard as the pub is near the tents. A lot of touring caravans are pitched for the season.

The site is well in the country. To walk from the site either way is a steep hill walk with no shops around other than the one on site.
On entering the site there are static vans on a flat site and the camping site is steep with pitches cut into the slopes. When your van is on the hook up pitch, your awning is on a slope either above or below the pitch
To enter the site you pay a deposit for a swipe card which also gets you into the toilet block. Showers are charged extra, metered if you use the showers, I suggest 2 tokens. On the first day the toilets were clean on the second they were really dirty.
There are good play areas for children one is a play park the other for older children. This site has touring caravans that are permanent they are on the only flat pitches.
This is not a site I would stay at again, it was expensive for the kind of site it is and has extra charges.

Just arrived home from this site after making a last minute booking.
We were a group of 5, 2 adults 3 children, cost £62 for 2 night with electric hookup. Not too bad with it being bank holiday easter weekend.
On arrival we found secure entrance which required us to go to reception where we paid £10 for a swipe card, we used this card to enter and exit the site and use the shower / toilet.
We were given a map of the site which was on a 1 way system to drive around, Caravans and tents were mixed with each other which was nice.
The site is very family orientated which is great especially if you have younger children. The club house which we used both nights was reasonable in prices. They had Kids Karaoke and adult also bingo which I didn't play.
The shop was quite reasonably priced as well loaf of bread 85p and a selection of sweets toys etc not a rip off. Kids park beside the club house was really good although quite bust at times.
In all I really enjoyed our stay at the site, was quite noisy through the day but that's to be expected especially with the kids but they are there to have fun.
Toilet/shower block was clean and tidy, although very steamy when people showering the floors got very dirty which didn't seem to get cleaned until a lot later in the night.
Definitely worth a visit though, My family and I will be returning in the future
