We stayed here for three nights in August 2014 as we were going to Car Fest North at Oulton Park and this site was shown as being the closest.
We were a party of six (4 adults/ 2 children) staying in a large tent. We were greeted by a friendly couple, checked in and shown to our pitch - the pitch was in the camping field and all pitches were a decent size and no one was 'on top of each other'. The site had very modern and clean facilities and even though we were in the bottom corner of the field, it was not far from the toilet block. Even though everyone on the site seemed to be going to Car Fest North, the showers and toilets were never too busy and were always clean.
We walked to Oulton Park, as road traffic was obviously busy, and the walk only took 40minutes, you could go via road or through the fields/ woods - so very handy if you going to an event at Oulton Park.
We would definitely stay here again, as we didn't have time to look around the local area this time.
The whole site was very tidy, clean and everyone was friendly - the added extra of the Owls was particularly lovely!
A most pleasant stay and only wish it could have been longer.

We stayed here last weekend for the first time. We liked the site immediately as it was obviously very well maintained and the owners were so friendly. They have a little shop on site which is open until around 7pm which sells everything you might need at very reasonable prices.
The site is lovely and clean, is very well presented and has a modern toilet and shower block which was one of the cleanest we have encountered. There is a pub within walking distance although we didn't have time to try this on our visit.
There is also an Owl sanctuary on site which the kids where fascinated by and enjoyed to visit on more than one occasion. As an added bonus on Friday and Saturday nights they open an on site chippy called 'Fry Days' we tried this out on Saturday night and you could order your food for pick up as late as around 8pm!
We liked the site so much we are going back next weekend!

Lovely little gem of a site. Very Clean, Very neat and tidy. Decent size pitches. Toilet block superb. Plenty of showers to go around.
Recycling area well laid out(a surprising plus)
If you have a toddler make sure you ask for a key to the toddler and disabled room. Total Lifesaver for us. Plenty of room for you to shower together.
Little Shop good for bits and pieces. Staff are helpful and there is always someone around to help if newbies (like us) get into trouble.
Big field for Kids to run around in and a brilliant dog walking area.
Could do with a playground but I'm not complaining

I recently stayed at Elm Cottage Touring Park with a tent in the touring field. The site is easy to find as it's right on the A54 just a few miles west of Winsford.
It is not a big site but, that add's to the enjoyment! Arriving at the site you drive past the small reception/shot and the main Caravan / Campervan pitches are on your right. A good mix of grass / hardstanding pitches with service there. Through a gap in the hedge is the touring field. This is where the tents go. Pitches are arranged round the edge of the field some with electric some without.
We paid the few extra pounds for electric hookup and was worth it. Easy to hook up. Lots of space to pitch and the staff on site are really helpful.
The toilet block is modern, clean and warm. Underfloor heating is fantastic, you can really feel it when taking a shower.
Elm Cottage is a few miles from Winsford, where you can find an ASDA supermarket for anything the site cannot supply. Also a few miles away is Delamere Forest and Oulton Park. On one night we could hear some of the racing too!
Really really good site!

Stayed at elm cottage for one night what a cracking site the camping field is massive! And the dog walking area is big as well the only negative thing for me owning a dog was no fencing surrounding the dog walk on the camping field and the gate in the dog area that leads onto the road could do with mesh on it to stop the dogs from trying to get on the road but apart from that we will be back and cannot wait!

Stayed for a couple of nights for the first time, ideal location for exploring the surrounding area.
Overall the site is well laid out and well organised, hard standing pitches with hook up available for all year round use. The site is obviously popular, much fuller than we expected for this time of year.
The shower / washroom block is toasty with its under floor heating and is spotless throughout.
There is a pub down the road that serves good beer and traditional pub food, with a friendly smile.
The site owners are very friendly and helpful.
Will definitely return again

An excellent stay at this smart well run site with easy access to Chester city centre.
Sadly only able to stay one night but it was an absolute pleasure to deal with warden Rosie and to admire the wonderful collection of owls in the garden.
The facilities were excellent and spotlessly clean - what a treat!
Will definitely stay again and for longer when next in the area.
Unable to comment on child friendliness as we did not have any children with us so just 1/10

We stayed here for the first time last weekend and booked it because it is near Oulton Park Race Circuit and we were attending a race meeting. We cycled to and from the race circuit which is only about 1. 5 miles away. We originally only booked for 3 nights but extended our stay for another 3 because the site was so nice. It's ideally located for Chester, North Wales and surrounding area.
Surprisingly it wasn't too busy since it is very well kept and clean. The staff are friendly and the owl garden is a unique feature! The toilet block was always clean and with underfloor heating was cosy. 3 showers, 4 toilet cubicles and a handy cubicle with a wash basin in both gents and ladies, a hair drier is also available and we never had to queue for either toilet or shower. The laundry had a washing machine and tumble drier, tokens and washing tablets can be bought from the shop. There is also a freezer within the dish washing room which anyone can use.
The shop is quite small but having spoken to a lovely lady who works there, she says that they plan to extend the shop in the future. Only 5 miles away is Winsford where groceries and papers can be bought. The pub down the road, a 5 min walk, the Shrewsbury Arms, does nice food and isn't too expensive.
The camping field is huge and there is plenty room between pitches and lots of space for kids to play, there is no playground but the kids we saw seemed to be happy playing football or cycling about!
We wouldn't hesitate to return!

We have stayed here quite a few times and agree with all of the positive comments made by other reviewers. I would particularly like to mention the friendly, helpful and accommodating site managers and staff. We originally chose the site because of its close proximity to Oulton Park racing circuit, as such the site is usually busy when we stay. Even so it never feels crowded, we have never needed to queue for showers / toilets / wash up sinks. The camping field provides masses of space for children to play. There is a fish and chip stall on Friday and Saturday nights which we haven't tried but appears to be very popular. The only negative is the road noise, this is more noticeable from the camping field than the hard standing area but it certainly won't prevent us from staying again.

What a fantastic site. Very friendly site and staff helped us get our caravan on which was welcomed, just had a tight pitch. Well stocked shop, lovely amenities, great dishwashing, recycling etc. Pretty busy road so bear in mind however you forget it after a while. Great location for Chester etc. We had an easy run from Manchester area, very easy. Hollies farm shop nearby then a lovely afternoon tea at davenport tea rooms. We came back because of the owner who showed us around the first time. Met him and his wife this time around and they are lovely, we will definitely be back. Thanks to you all, you made our weekend x Lorraine and Brian xx
