Just returned from a great week camping at Marfit Head Farm. The pitches were huge, our tent is 8m x 5m and we still had plenty of room. Toilets were cleaned daily and although the toilet block wasn't big we never had to queue.
The staff on the farm were great and very friendly. The kids didn't get to see the cows being milked, but they weren't bothered. They loved the playground and the spacious field to play on.
The only things missing from the site was laundry facilities and also a light outside the toilet blocks as it was very dark on a night when you went to the toilet.
That said we will certainly visit again.

We spent three nights at this site and absolutely loved it. There is a CL field which was fully booked and we had a pitch at the top of the site where there is a large overflow field. Our pitch was huge and even though there were other outfits there we never felt as if we were crammed in.
The boys loved the free range chickens that wandered in and out of the awning and watching the cows that were in the field adjacent to us. The toilet and shower blocks are amongst the cleanest we have ever used and are decorated to a high standard. There is a little playground on the site as an added bonus, as well as donkeys, pigs and the cows.
The owners are incredibly helpful and friendly and nothing is too much effort for them. We did some lovely walks in the local area and Whitby and Ravenscar are within easy reach by car. This site gives excellent value for money and was a real pleasure to stay on. We are looking forward to our next visit.

We are not long back from nearly 2 1/2wks at this wonderful campsite. It is based on a working farm, which is great, as we love animals. There are also very friendly pot belly pigs, donkeys, hens etc which all add to the ambience of the place.
The pitches were a really good size and we were given a choice of were we could pitch our tent. It rained and I mean rained 2 days in each of our first two weeks. It got a bit slushy underfoot in the tent (there were 2 adults, 1 large dog & 1 very active 11wk pup)with activity, but the field drainage was very good. The owner very kindly gave us solid sheeting to go underneath our groundsheet.
The toilet facilities were always clean & lovely to use, never any queues. The ice cream on supply was also very tasty. The Hole of Horcum was just minutes up the road, providing a very enjoyable walk & views for both the energetic & the not so energetic. Pickering, Whitby, Thornton le Dale & Goathland(Heartbeat country) are a few places that are within very easy access.
The only minus, was the lack of laundry facilities, especially if you are there for more than a couple of days, but the owners wife assures us it is in the pipeline. The laundry facilities in Whitby were very good & very reasonable
Would certainly recommend this site to anyone, I definitely didn't want to come home.

What a little gem, a lovely site about 5 miles from Pickering, a working farm, chickens wandering around the site, cows mooing, lovely owners. There are three fields, one of which is a ccc. The field I was in was sheltered on one side by trees, open to the fields on two sides, the farm at the other side.
Slightly sloping, grass had been recently mown. Very large pitches. Very well drained, stood up to thunderstorms and torrential rain while there. Small dog walk nearby. Toilets/showers(hot) unisex, cubicles fully enclosed, very clean, freezer free to use, washing up area inside. Very peaceful and quite, nice drive to Whitby and Scarborough, nice pub nearby, the Fox and Rabbit.
There is nothing negative about this site, just one or two niggles, the grass had been recently mown and the cut grass not gathered up, consequently I had grass sticking to shoes and all in tent, though it was rather wet.
A sign would be useful before reaching the site, the traffic on the road is very fast and the gateway slightly hidden. The nearest village for shopping is Pickering, 5 miles away, so its a good idea to stock up.
I loved this site and have already booked again for August!

Had a lovely weekend break here.
Lovely couple, farmer came to help when we started skidding while trying to pitch up.
Showers nice and clean, although there were not many people using the site. We used our caravan sink as we found the water not hot enough for our washing up
Lovely seeing the little calves as you go to the shower block.
Road is close by, but then, its easy to find, so it's going to be eh? We didn't find it too noisy.
Great places to walk close by. Nice pub in Levisham, which is a good walk away.
Recommended site. Will certainly be coming back again

My friend recommended this site and I'm glad she did £6 a night for me and my two children.
Toilet block was extremely clean only stopped two nights(plan to stay longer next time) so I didn't use the showers.
Adventure playground thingymebob for the kids. Chickens roaming freely, cows in the next field plus other animals.
Pitches were huge, granted I don't have a big tent or car, but we only used 1/4 of the pitch!
Only down side was the noise from the road. That aside I would highly recommend this site.

Visited this site early august and stayed 4 nights, but wished we had stayed longer as there is so much to do and see in and around the area.
We received friendly welcome. The pitches are very generous and grass was kept maintained at all times. Though it is next to the main road, you feel like your in a different place once your on the site.
There is good access to pickering, which is a lovely little market town, with a great atmosphere. It is also close to Goathland(heartbeat), you feel like your on a film set.
All in all a really nice site beside a real farm We will be back

Just got back from 10 days at this site. We had a really enjoyable stay, although the weather let us down somewhat!
The pitches are a really generous size and the shower/washing facilities are lovely and clean. There was always plenty of hot water and we didn't have to queue once.
The farmer and his wife were very friendly, and make sure you try the fresh eggs and ice-cream. Scrumptious!
There is a little park, which was usually busy and the kids all seemed to enjoy themselves.
It is a working farm, but we loved listening to the cows mooing and chewing, and were lucky enough to see a new born baby calf one morning.
There are some great places to visit in the area. The beaches are lovely (if the weather is kind!) Our kids liked rock-pooling and hunting for fossils at Robin Hoods Bay. We also enjoyed visiting Dalby forest, which has lots on offer. We did the Go Ape course there, which has some brilliant zip-wires!
You do have to adjust to the road noise however. We got used to it, but it can be very loud. Also, there are the smells associated with a working farm. They weren't a problem for us, but may not be to everyone's liking!

Loved this site. Owners were very nice, welcoming and helpful. The site was very well maintained.
Toilet block was very impressive. Clean warm (double glazed) I never found it slippery, there was lovely touches like lots of local info and a freezer for blocks and ice cream from the farm paid for by honesty box.
There was also information about cows and the dairy farm on the walls and even washing up liquid provided. As far a noise is concerned I didn't find the road disturbing and I am a light sleeper. The cows coming in to be milked at 6am was actually very lulling as they mooed away gently.
There was some farm noise in the day but really it wasn't a problem and to be expected on a working farm.
My only criticism if being very picky would be one part of the camping area has electric pylons overhead. I personally couldn't have camped under them and would request not to be when booking but probably wouldn't bother most people.
At £8/night non electric and £10 EHU it was a very good base for exploring the Yorkshire coast.

This campsite is truly wonderful. It is a working farm and this has to be respected but because of this it offers so much more to your break/holiday.
As parents of 2 small boys we felt secure and safe, the boys went off collecting pine-cones in the little woods and collecting chicken eggs with the owners children. We also petted the Donkeys, Goats and animals and watched the Cows being Milked (make sure you seek times and permission from farmers).
I loved the fact that it was quiet and almost zero phone signal (being self-employed I welcomed the break).
The facilities are very clean and warm. Free fridge and freezer, leaflets, books and microwave - awesome!
The pitches are of a great size (we have a large tent and still had room), all electricity is in the cost and we ordered our eggs (fresh) every day which was really lovely!
There are walks you can go on and leaflets available so you can plan these, it's a stone throw (in the car) from Whitby and the Railway. The kids play area is small but fine because if you're like us you spend most of your time with a ball/playing with your kids yourself anyway?.
The owners are a family unit and their kids friendly and playful with other children too, BBQ's are welcomed and they have concrete slabs you can place your BBQ on to save the grass.
It's just generally a lovely place to go for a break, we can't wait to go back in August for a week and for £12. 50 a night I think you should give it a go! I just hope the popularity and awesomeness of this site doesn't mean the owners will increase the prices, but I doubt it 0 they are nice people!
There is a caravan on the top site where a guy lives there full-time he's such a friendly chap and always helpful and chatty which I think is nice to know, he tend to stay with his van most days so you feel secure leaving your tent and having a walk in the local countryside - which is really beautiful. There is an ice-cream van in walking distance so you can grab a lolly and take off for a good walk in the sun - awesome!
The only thing I would say is to not let the kids go too close to the gate unattended, it's direct onto a main road and even though there is a cattle grid and the kids aren't supposed to go that side if they did, it could be scary. But keep an eye on your kids and you have nothing to worry about at all !
Love this site and want to shout it from the rooftops. Yes there is road noise but it's better than youth/pub and seaside noises (and its not that noisy anyway) and yes it's a farm - but that's part of the fun and Yes it gets slightly colder on an evening due to the height you're at but snuggle up, get your book and wine out (or portable dvd player lol) and enjoy!
