This is a lovely site, and it was a real experience to stay on a working farm. We never saw our 9 year old daughter, and when we did, she was in her wellies and returning from feeding the lambs, calfs and doing the odd spot of milking.
The owners are friendly, the site has lovely views. Ladies showers / toilets were clean and tidy. Showers work on a 20p. Mens shower was 10p, and the only bad thing we could find was that men had to pay 10p for hot water to wash in, it was free in the ladies. However it cost £14 a night for a huge tent, 4 people and electric hook up, so we weren't too bothered about that.
We are already planning a return trip, we loved it.

What a lovely peaceful campsite. Tents around the edges of the field and a lovely area for ball games in the middle. The owners are so friendly and it was lovely to be allowed to join in with the milking and feeding of the animals, they always welcomed any help, even the kids help which was lovely. The toilet block, though a little walk away from the tents through the yard was very nice but paying for showers I still find an unnecessary added expense. I am not sure what it would be like when busy as there are not that many and only 2 washing up sinks. Morrisons close by. Laundrette and freezer. Would visit again if in the area.

This is an excellent site, very clean and tidy with good facilities. Good views of the Devon countryside, and quiet as you are well away from any roads etc.
Great site for kids as they can get hands on with the animals at feeding time etc. Our little one loved bottle feeding the baby lambs every morning.
Tiverton is a short drive away with supermarkets etc for supplies.
We will be visiting again next year!

This was the first time we had stopped on a campsite which is a 'working farm'. On arrival we were met by Jo and John who were extremely friendly. The site facilities are very good; the toilet block and wash up area were kept very clean, which was exceptional considering the wet conditions.
The children were catered for with a place to meet in the evenings and a football pitch in the middle of the campsite.
Everybody was invited to join in the working of the farm, which included feeding the cows during milking, mucking out and getting the cows back to the field. This all proved to be great fun as well as educational. Both calves and piglets were born during our stay.
The site is close to the village of Witheridge (just over a mile) which is grest for local pubs, grub and a local newsagent. From the campsite it was easy to travel out to the north Devon coast or further afieled to places such as Tintagel (approx. 1.5 hours drive).
I would recommend this site to all age groups, as it has log cabins, caravan standings, tent pitches and B & B.

John met us and showed us where we could pitch and was really friendly. The scenery was beautiful and the animals were fab! We had a 15 month baby and I think she was a little young to appreciate the farm fully. If you had slightly older children then this would be a fantastic site. The children can play in the middle of the tents and you can keep an eye on them. Also, there was a trailer of hay that the children on the site seemed to congregate on in the evenings and I thought that looked great fun!
The toilet block was fine and seemed clean. Quite a feat considering the rain! We had solid rainfall and we were able to get planks of wood to cover the waterlogged grass from our tent to the path which was useful.
There were a few pubs a few mins drive away which were good. I had thought that you could walk to them from the website and actually you really need a car because the roads are quite narrow and no pavement. Anyway, thought it was a lovely site for families with young children.

Had a great week here with 3 young children 3,4,5. Children loved feeding lambs, collecting chicken eggs, watching milking. Great site, toilets showers good cleaned regularly. Campsite owners extremely helpful nothing too much trouble. Had a great week even though we could not guarantee the British weather will def be returning. Playing field good, can see children from all sides even when in caravan bonus when 3 little ones.

What a fantastic site! Stayed for two nights, as we were going on a photography evening at the nearby Devon Badger Watch - which is a must visit if you're in the area.
This site really does seem to have something for everyone. The main site is a well-mown level field around a large central area, suitable for children's games - there were goal posts there when we were there. For those wanting a little more peace and quiet - and gorgeous views across the rolling Devon countryside, there is Mary's field, just beyond the main camping area. It makes the trek to the loos a little longer, but for us it was well worth it.
I was surprised that the site was fairly quiet, but it looks as if even when full there's still plenty of room.
Excellent facilities - I have to mention the ladies' loos - not only toilet roll, but handwash and paper towels!
As other reviews have mentioned, there are lots of animals around the farm. The owners were very friendly and helpful.
Location-wise, it's bang in the middle of Devon - equidistant from Exmoor and Dartmoor, and only about 15 miles from the M5. You're not far from the bright lights of Tiverton, with plenty of shops. We visited the Grand Western Canal and took a trip on a horse drawn barge, which was lovely. It's also not too far a drive to the North Devon coast.
If you're looking for somewhere in central Devon I'd recommend this site wholeheartedly. We'll certainly be heading back there.

What a fabulous campsite. We were in a tent, (2 adults, 3 kids, 1, 4 and 7) and were lucky enough to be in the overflow field - what a spectacular view. The owners were really friendly and helpful, and happy to let the kids wander the farm. They loved seeing the animals, and it made our stay a bit different. Lots of space in the fields for kites and racing around. The facilities were new, and very clean, no complaints here - £1 did all of us in the shower each night, and it was handy that there was a family sized one! Really good value for money, and a very peaceful weekend, despite being with our children! Will definitely be going back.

We're still coming to terms with having to leave West Middlewick Farm behind after an idyllic five days camping on site and away from it all. This non-intensive, family run dairy farm, is owned by the super friendly John, his wife Jo, and their children, all who clearly love caring for the many animals (including cows, sheep, pigs, chickens and their young). Its great to be able to receive such a friendly welcome on arrival and a genuine invitation to get stuck in to farm life if you so wish, adults and children alike.
The campsite wasn't busy during our stay, yet we were still allowed to pitch in the secluded, peaceful and picturesque Mary's field (usually only open in July and August). We had the entire field to ourselves which was wonderful. For those with caravans, there are also gravelled, well spaced plots available on the main field with water and electricity supplies.
The newly built ladies shower block was very welcome (piping hot water is available in the basins and outside in the adjoining wash up area, some small change is only needed for the showers) and although we weren't using them, the new log cabins looked great.
As this is a working farm, don't forget to take your wellies if you want to help out with feeding and milking the happy, docile and individually named cows (a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable experience - 11/10). This you can do before heading back to the tent with a warm heart, for supper and to watch the sun set over the rolling hills in the distance.
Our summary: Book now before the rest of the world finds out about this insightful and tranquil break away from it all.

Decided to stay here for 2 nights as we were travelling in devon for a few days and wanted somewhere that was quiet and good value. West Middlewick Farm turned out to be excellent value. We arrived at 7pm and were shown to our pitch by John the owner. He spotted my teenage daughter and her friend in the back of the van and told them that he was about to bring the cows in for milking if they would like to help. We didn't see them again for another 2 hours and it was a delight to see the normally fashion conscious girls up to their knees in cow muck!
The pitch was spacious and the location idyllic. Toilet / shower block was clean and ladies showers very powerful ( remember 20p for 2 mins so have a supply, 10ps for the mens )
We had lambs adjoining our pitch and we bottle fed them whilst there and also chickens roaming freely, eggs available from the farm. There are also pigs and calves which you are free to visit and pet.
We went for a walk over the farmland the following day and both John and his son were more than happy to point us in the right direction and the walk was over beautiful farmland and wooded areas. In fact the helpfulness of the family is a major plus for this site. We forgot our chocks and although the pitch was only slightly sloping, John quickly popped over with some wood to level us out.
Would highly recommend this site. It is quite remote so you would need to be quite well prepared however Tiverton wasn't too far and had a 24hr Tesco if required.
Excellent value, lovely owners and a truly different experience.
