We'd like to make potential visitors aware of our new rules for the 2010 season
We are now taking more caravans instead of campers and have installed a new barrier to stop people coming onto our site without permission. We want our site to be a quiet, peaceful place for visitors to come.
In order to keep the campsite a respectable place no one will be given permission to go on our campsite by just turning up. We now have a strict code of terms and conditions, and require campers to fill out the booking form with credit card details prior to arrival.
The campsite is aimed at family or couples only although, we do take Duke of Edinburgh groups with Adult supervision. We also welcome Outdoor Adventure Groups by prior arrangement with the group leaders and deposits paid. A deposit will be taken also by our discretion, to determine good quiet behaviour by all.

This was our first visit to this site and we were a group of a caravan and two tents.
The site is level and very pretty with the Abbey behind you and a stream in front. No play area as such but some rope swings have been added to various trees.
As we were a group booking we were conscious of not making too much noise, however we need not have worried, many campers were up late.
The site does have rules but I think they tend to ignore them (which actually suits us)
The showers were not very clean and the water was warm at best (I do like a hot shower) however these were free.
Sadly they close the 'nice' toilets at 9.30 and reopen them at breakfast time so if you need the toilet in the middle of the night you need to use the chemical disposal toilets which isn't very nice.
The tea rooms were lovely, the small site shop had everything you needed but was a bit pricey.
There was only one water tap for the whole site (unless I just couldn't find it) which was not great. I thought this site was quite expensive for the facilities on offer. £19.50 per night for the caravan, electric and awning)

Stayed one night here and the setting is perfect.
The toilets a little faded but ok. I've seen better and seen much worse.
There's a little cafe which sells the biggest breakfast ever for such a reasonable price. Just be aware of the bigger breakfast, it's huge.
The little shop sells all that you will need including lovely meat from their own farm.
We will definitely stay at this site again. It was lovely and quiet and loads of room. Staff really good.
I do believe they have seen these reviews on here and are addressing the noise complaints. There are rules now and they appear to mean it. Mind you, so quiet this weekend. No trouble at all.

We fancied a Weekend away so Llangollen was our obvious choice at approx 65 miles away. We turned up on spec and were greeted by very pleasant and helpful staff. £10.50 per night for 2 adults in a camper with awning is ok, so we booked 2 nights. The site is in a beautiful location within 20 minutes walk of Llangollen town. There is plenty to do Steam Train rides, Horse drawn barge trips to name but a few. The facilities on site were basic but they were clean. The shop was ok for essentials and a Tea room has opened.
My main criticism was the hoards of undesirables with dozens of kids who feel it necessary to only play ball games next to your van and away from their parents property. They feel the need to drink all day with music blasting out. Then after sunset the disco lights come out and the music and foul language goes up a gear. We moved our van away as far as possible into the next field which was a lot quieter but I was too annoyed to relax. We packed up and cleared out the next morning. Its a shame because it it a nice site and I feel for the owners but they need to introduce tighter rules or advertise it as a party location because its too small to be both.

This site is set in the most glorious countryside you will ever see, right at the foot of the horseshow pass. It boasts a shop which is well stocked, a tea room which serves good food at reasonable prices and a butcher who supplies local fresh meat at good prices. The site is well set out with static caravans and touring caravans on the first field, the beautiful calm Cale Crusis abbey next and then the camping fields. There are two main fields and a small third section. Electric hookups are in the middle field.
The price for the site is reasonable, however they top it up with charging for your car, this is not included in the camping price and with electricity at £3 per night [pricey] this brought the cost of our unit, with car and two adults to £19 per night. For that I expect good facilities. I was disappointed. The ladies were dirty, dirt which had built up over weeks. The showers were cold to mediocre. Ladies shouting out in the morning was not unusual, over the cold water of course! The flow went from a drip to a full shower. I did point this out to the office and they sent the cleaning person to see me. We discussed the problems and he did his best to rectify them, however I do believe the poor man was out of his depth, with no training.
I have taken into account the heavy usage last weekend when making this report to my fellow campers. There were several people voicing the same complaints as i. The facilities on the caravan field were lovely and clean. Its such a shame that such a beautiful site should let itself down this way.
I would go again to see if it has improved, if not I would pull off immediately. There are no children's play equipment on the camping field and unless you walk around the caravan field you wouldn't know there were any there. In any case they are not big enough for all of the children which were on the site last weekend. There is however the river for all to play in.
There is a good hotel abbey grange nearby and Llandudno town which is a lovely town is about 1.5 mls away.

What can I say. The campsite was ok. The view of the abbey was lovely. Llangollen village was about a 5 minute car ride away but parking can be tricky on buy days. The Corn Mill pub is fab.
My husband and I had hoped for a relaxing weekend but instead the campsite was over run with screaming children and generally undesirable members of society.
Due to the sheer volume of campers (tents/camper vans/ caravans/static vans) the toilets smelt pretty awful. One block to service a huge sight was never going to work.
We pitched our tent as far away from the family area as we could get. The pitch was good, then the hoards descended. The peace and tranquillity soon disappeared and the disco lights and the loud voices began (well after dark).
Come morning, most people had begun to pack up and leave (thankfully) so we had a lovely peaceful breakfast before making our way home.
One plus side. If you forget to bring your own food, there is a nice farm shop on site that sells nice sausages.

We have just stayed at Abbey Farm Campsite for 2 nights (2 of us with a dog). The site is in a lovely scenic location, close to 2 pubs and within short walking distance to town.
The facilities are not the best, not enough bins or water taps. The toilets were ok, fairly clean and stocked up with paper but not enough of them for the size of the site. Showers free but not the best, not enough space in them so you tend to get your clothes wet when having a shower, could be better.
The farm shop is excellent, really nice meat and very good value.
The main problem with this site is the amount of large noisy groups. Even though after speaking with other campers it seems that they were told large groups are not permitted this does not seem to be the case. There were at least 3 large groups there during our stay playing loud music until early hours, drinking, shouting, screaming, swearing, running around etc.

We stayed this lovely campsite last weekend and found that the owners had vastly improved it from earlier in the year. The toilet block was clean & tidy and the other block was being refurbished. The abbey on the site makes a great backdrop to the stunning scenery around the area, the shop is great with home grown meat and the cafe is great for breakfasts!
We stayed on the site as part of the club 80-90 volkswagen transporter club and we were in a group of 13 vans. Not one person had a single complaint about the site and we all can't wait to go back! Cracking site.

This was our first visit to Llangollen and also to Abbey farm. I was a little wary after some of the reviews, but no need to be at all. .
The site has a lovely farm shop which you can buy reasonably priced farm produce from which includes fresh meat and rolls etc for a bbq. The toilets were fine, have seen a lot worse. Plenty of toilet roll, and the showers were quite pleasant. Take your own soap though as none to wash your hands.
There are two fields for camping the smaller one was packed and quite noisy but if you choose the larger of the fields it is extremely spacious and very quiet. We managed to have a game of cricket in the middle of it and there was so much space. We did hear that there was some trouble from the groups in the smaller field but when I spoke to the warden the next day he said he had thrown them all off !
The abbey is so beautiful and only costs two pounds fifty each to get in but is definitely worth a visit.
The site also has a small tea shop on which is open seven days a week to buy your breakfast from.
The site is quite a long walk into Llangollen but you can walk straight up the canal to it. There is a pub within walking distance of the site but the pubs within the town are great and many are situated overlooking the fantastic river.
The canal boat trips are worth a visit, and Llangollen is pretty good at nght.
We took a fire pit with us which we had a bbq on and than a small fire in afterwards. The site was fine with this as long as it didn't singe the grass and was monitored at all times.
All in all a very beautiful site which we will be returning to soon. Enjoy.

Only went for 1 night but the site was quiet, well maintained and contrary to other reviews the toilets were clean, basic but fine. Only a short walk to Llangollen along the canal path and a pub 5 minutes walk the other way. There were electrical hook ups but we did not need them. Staff were helpful enough and had no complaints. OK for a weekend. Will stop again.
