The campsite is excellently located for Oxford and visits to the surrounding area.
The site is landscaped around its periphery, but once inside is split into 3 relatively open camping fields. The staff were excellent, a real help with local knowledge, chatty, and even helped us push the caravan into place.
At the weekend the site was very busy, presumably its just that close to London. The single toilet block was then stretched a bit.
The greatest thing about the site though is its island football pitch, swimming beaches, fishing areas and water sports activities. We even went water skiing for the very first time.
All in all a great place if you have children and are willing to put up with a slight queue from time to time.

Just returned from enjoying a hot and sunny 3 night stay at Hardwick parks. I choose this site because of the good reviews and its closeness to Oxford, which was the reason for our trip.
On arrival, there is a drive through the first lot of camping areas before reaching reception. There was no sign for new arrivals, so I pulled up where I could. After booking in, a warden escorted us to our pitch which meant reversing the trailer to go back where we had come from. The greeting by the staff was welcoming and the warden was friendly. Fire pits/burning of wood are prohibited on this site. We didn't have an EHU but reception would charge mobiles and laptops for £1.
The site must be near some race track or other because on the Sunday there was roaring of engines, skidding wheels and a tannoy going. Not sure if this is a regular thing but it might be worth checking before booking that peaceful holiday!
There was plenty of room for everybody and I was reminded of the 6M rule by the warden, the pitches are large and mostly flat. I did not take the kitchen tent as this would have been an extra charge, cooking outside was a pleasure, as the weather couldn't have been better. A choice of several areas to pitch some tucked away, others more open with plenty of space for the children to play. The campsite had a nice chilled vibe to it, being used mostly by families, quiet time from 11 pm was adhered to.
I didn't use the clubhouse but it looked clean and has a decked terrace over-looking the lake. My children went in for the watersports centre's ringo rides and had a great time and I thought it good value. A lot of campers brought kayaks and inflatables to use on the lake.
I did wonder about security, as there is no gate to the campsite from the main road to protect the upper tent areas, before the reception, there is a height barrier for caravans which is meant to be locked at night but I didn't notice this happen. The campsite is in the middle of nowhere so perhaps security isn't a problem. One small negative for me was the rubbish bins - Hardwick are very keen on recycling, which is admirable, but some form of screening would have been nice, as it's one of the first things noticed when entering site - not pretty!
It took us about 20 mins to drive to Pear tree park and ride and cost £2. 20 to park up for the day and get the bus into Oxford for me and the kids - bargain.
We all liked this site and would love to return another time.

Just got back from a great three days camping at hardwick parks, we had the best weather anybody could wish for in fact it was that hot I wanted it to rain.
Anyway back to the site upon arrival we checked in with the wardens and shown to our spot number 88 I think just away from the shower and toilet blocks, not to close and not to far away a good spot by all accounts, please when booking ask not to be given number 77 has you are right next to the toilets and showers and this will cause you problems with people trying to get to the toilets with the noise and all it is far to close for my liking.
Has you enter the site the fields on the left and right look very wide open which gives you plenty of space between tents but the field near the booking in area the tents are all over the place, I would have preferred to have the tents around the outside of the field instead you get that Glastonbury feel to it they seem all cramed in.
The club house looked ok did not use thou, the lakes are lovley to walk around takes about 40 mins and the water sports centre looks great for the kids.
Shower blocks are spot on hot water at all times and very clean never had to wait at any time to say it serves 4 fields, site shop small but sold the bits you run out of also sold ice cream and childs toys etc.
The town of witney is about 3 miles away which has sainsburys and a waitrose and a tesco express free parking in witney by the way.
Now if you are into aircraft RAF brize norton is also about 5 mile away and the flight path goes right over the campsite and you can seen the planes very close up coming into land great to see, but it does no affect your camping in anyway ref the noise.
All in all I would give this site a 6/10 its that middle field what was the down side to the camp site.

This is the site for you if you don’t mind:
Hearing other peoples TV’s blaring away at full volume while we sat outside in the evenings;
Cars driving around the site at normal road speeds endangering the many children on the site (the staff did nothing to stop this);
Paying £3. 00 per day for very slow WiFi;
The chaotic pitch layouts;
The constant flow of people wandering through our pitch;
Ruining our awning carpet/tyres on the huge sharp rocks in the unlevel hardstanding pitches;
Tiny shower cubicles and shower timers set to cut off ridiculously quickly;
Washbasin taps that have to be held down constantly to get water out of them (meaning that our entire washing/shaving procedure had to be done one-handed)
Nowhere to hang clothes/towels etc. In the washbasin area
I do mind all these things and that is why I won’t be returning to Hardwick. In fairness I should say that the staff are (with the exception of one notable exception) friendly and helpful, but their failure to do anything about the dangerous driving around the site (mostly, but not exclusively, from what I could see by the non-camping syndicate anglers who are allowed to drive through) is inexcusable.

Just returned from a fabulous weekend at Hardwick Parks. Asked for a 'quiet' area on the booking form and got exactly that. On arrival we were greeted by the friendliest of staff on reception and were personally escorted to our pitch by Steve (on his bike) who told us lots about the site and gave us the usual do's and don't's. All done in a really good-natured way, I might add !
Arrived at the site at lunchtime on the Friday when it was still relatively empty. Steve told us it would be 'filling-up later', but to be honest, there was still lots and lots of room even when everyone else started to arrive.
Showers, toilets, washing-up areas etc were always clean and never really busy (even though the site was supposedly full) and there was always plenty of hot water.
Didn't venture into the clubhouse, although I am told by a fellow camper that their Sunday lunches are excellent.
What attracted us to the site was the photos of the scenery and the lake on their website and we were not at all disappointed. If anything, they did not do it justice at all. It was simply superb, and very very beautiful and peaceful. The walk round the lake takes around 45 minutes at a leisurely stroll, and you walk past a few bathing areas and the watersports centre which looks very well organised and reasonably priced.
The only criticism is the location is somewhat remote, which means that you do need to hop back in the car to get to a pub or a supermarket.
All-in-all an excellent site and definitely one to be put on our 'to be revisited' list.

We have just spent the weekend at hardwick we found the staff very friendly and helpful, the facilities were well looked after.
We managed to get a good signal on the freeview box, which was great as it was raining on the Friday night.
The food at the club house was very good and a reasonable price compared to the 2 pubs nearby, the water skiing looked fun but unfortunately it was too cold for me to have a go.
The dogs enjoyed swimming in the lake and the walks round the lakes. We would stay here again.

Nice campsite, small number of facilities - a small bar with food and a playground with outdoor seating, very small shop with essentials, clean toilets, 2 nice lakes with watersports but you need to book in good weather.
Site has wifi but is chargeable.
I liked it. Only stayed one night. Family orientated. Walked to pitch by staff. Quite high on the pitch cost side - think it was about £28 for 4 for one night in folding camper with electric. Quite close to main road into village if in field one.
Kids liked it as they just hooked up with others.

What a lovely site, friendly staff, clean toilets and showers, plenty of hot water - never had to queue and it was a bank holiday weekend!
Nice and quiet even on a busy weekend, had plenty of room between pitches and welcome there 6mtr rule.
Washing up facilities were good, so the wife tells me :)
Clubhouse bar and restaurant reasonably priced and food was ok.
Most pitches fairly flat in the non EHU sections although there are a few slopes on some parts.
Plenty to do in the surrounding Cotswold countryside and its a short drive to the river Thames.

Just returned from a 2 night stay (5 tents, 12 adults and 6 older children) and we all had a great time. The site is very spacious and the lakeside setting is lovely.
All the staff, in reception, the grounds, the clubhouse and the water sport centre were very friendly and helpful. I don't agree with some of the other reviews submitted about high prices as we didn't find this to be the case at all.
The shower, toilet and washing up facilities were spotless and there was never a shortage of hot water. The children and the adults couldn't get enough of the ringo rides around the lake!
My only criticism would be the group booking policy - as a large family group we were made to pitch in a group of 3 and a group of 2 about 200 yards apart. Not a huge problem but it was clear from other groups that this policy isn't consistently applied to all bookings.
All in all a great site and I would have no hesitation in returning.

Positives - A very good site with very roomy pitches and good, clean, modern facilities. We took our two-year-old son who enjoyed paddling on the beach of the lake.
Negatives - prices in the shop and clubhouse seemed to be inflated because of the convenience factor. Only other options were to drive a mile to the village shop or pubs. I went to the site shop to buy a packet of sugar, only to be informed that they were awaiting a delivery. But she did sell me 5 small sachets of sugar for 10p each!
I tend to choose sites with wifi. Whether the site charges for wifi is a good indication as to the owner's approach to their business. This site charges £3.00 per day for a very poor (slow) wifi service. These days more and more pubs, cafes and campsites are offering wifi as a free extra to encourage people to stay there and therefore use their other facilities. I see charging for wifi as an indication that the site wants to get as much money out of their customers as possible and puts customer service in second place. Its a shame, but for this reason we won't be returning to Hardwick Parks.
Playground only caters for say 5 year olds and upwards - no equipment suitable for toddlers.
