Had a great weekend at this site. Got a lovely spot at the bottom of the field big enough for two tents. Very handy shop on site and reasonable prices. No problems with the loos or showers kept very clean and no queues even though the site was full.
Very child / dog friendly ( no charge for my two dogs!) you could here a pin drop after 10.30pm will visit again no probs !

Called the week before we arrived and we were told that all the pitches were full but they did have one seasonal pitch available. We took this option and on arrival the site seemed really nice, if not extremely full.
Once we had been to the shop and checked in we were showed to our pitch, as we pulled up we had doubts of even fitting on there, and were told that the caravan owners next door had to move their car. They did, although not seeming to happy as that was their seasonal pitch and they were obviously weekend regulars.
We managed to fit our caravan, awning and quite big car on the pitch, this was at a HUGE push, we had approx 2 foot bewteen our caravan and next doors wind breaker, and just enough space to open the car door the other side, not to wide though as you would of hit the next caravan.
This said the facilities seemed nice enough although we didn't use them.
There was no space to do anything around you caravan, like let the children play etc.
Not much in the immediate area, although if you were on a walking holiday it was great. Buxton was about 10 miles away and this was the nearest place for even a co - op.
This site was ok for a rushed weekend away not going to far, but we definitely would not return here in a hurry as the pitches were far to close together.

Phoned up day before to arrive the last Bank Holiday Monday, told plenty of room for tents but no hook-ups available, when we arrived were told to drive down to the bottom field as this was flatter for our large family tent. The phone call and welcome all very friendly and welcoming. The facilities our cleaned but can get busy at popular times. The mens toilet were blocked on the last day, reported and fixed that morning.

We don't usually like big caravan/camping sites, but booking last minute for a Sunday night on bank holiday weekend didn't give us much choice. It was here or nowhere.
However, we were not disappointed - in fact we will be going back to stay here again in the summer! The campsite offers lots of little secluded areas to set up tents (if no electric needed).
Our 3 boys (all under 8) were happy zooming off climbing up banks and through the trees, whilst we set up camp. There were also a couple of little parks, but only staying for one night we didn't get to use them. The toilets were clean.
When you first arrive at the campsite there are lots of tents camped on a hill on the left, we were recommended to camp there by the lady in the shop. We didn't! It is much flatter on the field at the bottom.
Staff in the shop were very helpful and polite.
I can recommend the Chinese restaurant in Ashbourne (next to the carpark). The kids also enjoyed the cable cars and caves at Matlock Bath.
The only downside to this campsite was it was quite noisy at night.

We spent a very enjoyable couple of weekends at Newhaven. The site is fantastic, well maintained and very clean toilets.
The owners are great. Very friendly and helpful and will show you to your pitch when you arrive if needed.
For wandering around the Bakewell area the site is very well placed. Its about 6 miles outside of Bakewell centre and its an easy drive to get there.
It was pretty busy even in March so I would imagine it would get really busy in summer so booking is a must.
The pitch we stayed on was great, a little muddy but it had been raining a few days before we arrived. The second weekend we stayed it was much better as the ground had dried out.
Our pitch was flat as we had an electric hook up (thank goodness for the heater at night, its was freezing) but the other pitches which are non-electric are on quite a slope in places but it certainly wasn't putting off anyone pitched there.
All in all I'd definitely recommend the site. We'll absolutely be staying there again.

Very nice camp site.
Stayed over last weekend in April and liked it so much we booked for the May bank holiday and left the van parked up on site for the week for only £20.
Paul and his wife (the managers) are very friendly. The site is well kept and toilets are always clean and tidy.
Shame about the cold weather but the heater did help during the night.
Perfect location for Buxton, Bakewell and Matlock Baths. Found the best chippy in the country in a lovely little village called Cromford (not Linda's place!).
Would use this site again in a flash.

We had a lovely Easter break at Newhaven.
Booked an electric pitch for our small tent as the weather was a bit chilly and needed a heater.
Very well kept site. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. The location of the site is perfect for Buxton and particularly Bakewell.
It was a bit muddy but nothing to do with the site, the weather had been poor but still didn't dampen our spirits.
Other campers were the friendliest we've found anywhere.
Toilets clean, shop well stocked and site clean and quiet. What more can you ask.
Will definitely stay here again

Just got home from spending Easter weekend at this site with two other families. The weather was terrible and we were put on the bottom field which was probably the worst drained place I have ever stayed, very very muddy.
We were given our pitch numbers but it was impossible to get our caravans on them as we were just sinking into the mud when we asked for help we were just given a tow rope and told that as one of our party had a 4 x 4 we would have to sort it out for ourselves and the owner just went home. In the end we had to pitch up on other pitches and just let reception know the morning after.
The electric went off approx 8 times whilst we were there and it was not sorted out for at least half an hour each time. Shower/ toilet block were ok but water from the shower just trickled out.
I can imagine that in summer time this site is just ok but I will definitely not be returning.
On the plus side the Toucan mobile catering van on site was very good and the Carriages restaurant across the road was very nice.
There are some stunning views and really nice walks in the area which helped to keep our sanity.

We stayed here over the half-term weekend and had a very nice time.
The weather was pretty awful which you can expect at the end of October, but there is some great sight-seeing within easy driving distance and places to visit such as Buxton, Bakewell Ashbourne and Matlock Bath. There are also numerous caverns, Chatsworth House and Carsington Water Reservoir to add to your list.
We were met on arrival after dark at reception and shown to our pitch, and staff were friendly and helpful.
The toilet blocks were pretty well kept, considering the weather and the fact that there was a Mitsubishi Owners Club rally that weekend, and showers were nice and warm. The rally members were great, by the way, very friendly and no excess noise.
Carriages restaurant across the road is fantastic. We were here for my birthday, so we splashed out a bit, but £100 including drinks for 3 adults and 2 children isn't too bad, and I reckon the food and service is as good as I have ever had. You also get a 10% discount for staying on the camp.
We would use the camp again if we went to that area, although we might try for better weather and lighter nights. It's centrally located and you could stay for a week or more and do something different every day.

Had a great time at this campsite, facilities were adequate for the pitch price, shower / toilet block was very clean and kept that way, shop was well stocked, staff were very friendly and helpful. On arrival we were shown straight to our pitch with no delay. Kids had a great time, some fantastic wooded areas for them to play in and plenty of grassed areas too. For the price we paid I cannot fault the site very good value for money, will definitely be using it again!
