Stayed just for one night, a Saturday night. Only used the toilets and sink area, not the showers or dishwashing area, nor the reception or shop (was there one?).
The site consists of three large fields, two of which are alongside the main road and the other set back. The rear field had hard standings. We camped on the roadside pitches in the field to your left as you enter the site.
Welcome was warm and information provided was sufficient. Could choose our own pitch.
Fields are quite level and were not boggy although I think the east coast had been mostly dry during the last couple of weeks. Ground firm but standard pegs went in easily enough.
Positives:
Site is ideally located next to a large beach. Quite rocky and seaweed-ish but some shallow areas of water too. Dogs loved it.
Beadnell and seahouses very close by for shops etc. Avoid the chippy just up the road if you like good chips. Ours were soapy and had the texture of polystyrene.
Toilets and shower block is kept clean, even if it has a dated feel.
Negatives:
Road is noisy. If you're in a tent passing cars will keep you awake with their noise and full headlight beams. Avoid this by pitching in the rear field.
Quite a few locals walked along the roadside during the night in quite a drunken state. Site didn't feel particularly private. Again would pitch in the rear field to feel more secure.
Site is quite exposed and windy so bring a good windbreak and good pegs. Ours held up well despite a stiff breeze throughout most of stay.
Summary:
Would use again because the beachside setting is fabulous and dark skies possible for romantics nights under the stars. However would only pitch in the rear field. It's more sheltered and away from the noisy road and the feeling of being too close to passers by. You can't see the sea from the roadside pitches anyway.

Just returned from 4 glorious days at this camp site. Pitch was great although busy there is lots of space and certainly no over crowding. The location is superb hop skip and a jump and your on the beach. Although the road is close we didn't find the traffic disturbed us.
The shop stocks the basics milk eggs etc.
Toilet and showers were clean and although the site was busy we didn't have to queue. They were refurbished this year I believe.
The wash up area is a bit cramped and we did have to queue.
The only real downside to this camp site is they close completely the toilet and washing facilities from 10. 45 to 12noon.
This was more than a little frustrating especially when on our departure day we had packed our tent away and would have liked to have cleaned our hands and even had a shower or as a minimum got changed we were unable to do so and ended up going into the village to the beach toilets. Departure is before 12noon.
I also find it puzzling when camp sites don't recycle. We are all encourage to do so at home and in the main we do so it felt odd just putting all our waste into one bag for disposal.
The area is so beautiful and we were lucky with stunning weather, the best so far this year.
We took the opportunity to do Alnwick Castle and Gardens which although expensive for a family of 4 we thoroughly enjoyed the day and would definitely return to the gardens. If you have young children take swimming gear and towels for the gardens they have amazing water features. Whilst ours are now teenagers they still enjoyed the day.
Best ice creams can be found in Bamburgh. Although we didn't do the Castle as we would have had to buy 3 adult tickets as the family ticket is for children under 16 at a total family cost of over £32. Which was a shame as it is rather impressive looking at it from the road.
So overall a great camp site and I would have given it a 10 for everything had they not closed the toilets completely and recycled at least bottles, plastics and cans.

Just returned from a blissful 4 days at Beadnell Bay. Wardens were friendly and informal. Situation is perfect, the beach reached through a lovely walk through dunes a riot of wild flowers.
Camp fires are of course not permitted on the site, but I strongly recommend collecting wood and enjoying a beach barbecue with camp fire.
Only downside is the road, which is busier than you'd expect. Didn't wake me though. The wretched birds did, but that's hardly anyone's fault!
Facilities were modern and excellent (think may be new this year?) and cleaned daily.

Just back from a weekend stay here and had a great time. Weather was mixed with sun one minute and showers the next but apart from being slightly exposed as other reviews have stated, the site is well kept and the owners/wardens are very friendly and helpful.
Facilities are kept very clean and apart from the shower turning off every 20 secs they are warm and the cubicles are adequate.
Our pitch was on the front field facing the sea and the warden had to hook us up over the wall to the field at the rear due to not having a hook-up facility on our side of the wall. Not a major problem by the way, just make sure you have a long hook-up cable.
The village of Beadnell is within sight and as mentioned previously, the Craster Arms in the village is only 5-10 mins walk and serves great food.
This is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area and we will definitely return. Oh and there's a good fish and chip shop at the edge of the village with a shop next to it for supplies. Recommend the fish supper!

Just come back from a 2 day stay at this site. The site was very quiet when we went as it was mid week, just before the jubilee weekend. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The showers/toilets/washing up sinks were kept very clean whenever we used them. As others have said it is right across the road from the beach. The beach is clean with no rubbish kicking about, however not sure if it is the type of beach you would sit on as there is a lot of seaweed and its very rocky in places. However if you have a dog it is perfect as it was almost deserted, even on a warm day we walked for 2 miles and only passed 4 people. Would thoroughly recommend the site and location.

This site accepts caravans now. We had a great weekend here, if a bit cold and windy.
Pros
Great location just across the road from the beach, just minutes walk from village centre
Very friendly and helpful wardens
This bit of the Northumberland coast is stunning
Plenty of hot water and very clean facilities
Cons
Very exposed site with little protection from the wind, make sure you are prepared
The site shop is small and limited, but it may be different later on in the season
The building housing the facilities is a bit old and cold, it could do with being replaced with something more modern and wind proof

First of all this is a fantastic location and the CCC should improve this site as the location deserves better. This site could be a real diamond. The duty warden was very friendly and his local knowledge helped us get around.
The facilities are very dated and the wardens must have a hard time trying to make them look clean. The site sits on a local road that does have some traffic but certainly not a busy road. Local bus stop is near the site entrance.
The Northumberland Heritage Coast is on the doorstep with plenty to do and see, or just walking in either direction on the magnificent beach. The new field (Owned by a local rented by the club) that opened up this season is very rough, long grass and badly pitted road.
The whole area would not be very pleasant if there was a lot of rain. We will return next season as this is area that needs a few visits to take in all that is available.
We did have a fantastic time and weather was great.

We visited this site in August 2011 and must of had some of the worst weather as during our 10 day stay it probably rained for 6 days of this. Apart from this we had a wonderful time (we were a group of 4 large tents) and my main comments would be that the grass definitely needed cutting, especially in the rain we got very muddy, wet feet. Toilet/shower block were ok, little dated but overall clean.
The location is fantastic, right opposite the beach and if the weather had of been nicer then I think we could have appreciated the location more. Yes there is a little noise from the road which runs past but didn't bother us as we live near a busy road, but if you are used to living somewhere quiet it could be annoying.
A short 10 minute walk is a lovely pub the 'Craster Arms' it does lovely food and very child and dog friendly.
Northumberland is a beautiful part of the country and we would visit again but hope for better weather.

I first visited Beadnell Campsite for a week in August 1978 when I was 17, with a mate and this was our first holiday without our parents. It was most memorable and is indelibly etched in my memory.
I have since visited the site over and over for the last 33 years and there have been a few changes all being small and have not spoilt the site.
The toilets and showers have been refurbished and are well above average compared to other sites that I visit and now have disabled facilities. The end 4 toilets in the gents still have the same cubicles and overhead cisterns that they had in 78 and there is now soft toilet paper instead of Izal, which must have changed sometime in the late 80s.
There is an indoor wash-up room in the same place as the original outdoor one and an outside shower for rinsing wetsuits. The rest of the camping areas are unchanged and consist of undulating grass on the front field overlooking the road and beach.
The beach is always very clean and on the rare occasions weather permitting you can even sunbathe! The wardens on the site vary as they are change around each season and I have encountered grumpy ones but not as many as good and helpful ones.
They always keep the site clean and tidy and when I visited in July 2011 on my push bike with all my light weight camping gear, were helpful especially the warden that cuts the grass with the tractor.
The pubs in the village are the Craster Arms and the Beadnell Towers who both provide good food and drink and have changed a little bit over the years. We used to go in the Lobster Pot Bar at the back of the Beadnell Towers drinking and playing pool.
This bar has sadly gone and is now merged into one. I still go back there with my family and bore them to death with my reminiscences of what I used to do and get up to.
Hopefully they will return in the future with their children to a place that has rarely changed for decades and will hopefully remain unspoilt for the years to come.

Beadnell campsite is located on a beautiful part of the Northumbrian coast with a large sandy beach just across the main road beside the site, although it is not the beach shown in ‘Cool Camping’ that is at Bamburgh.
The site is open on 3 sides with a low shrub hedge giving little protection to the 4th side along which the main road runs between the site and the beach, road noise is not apparent from the far side of the site.
The site is level overall and so are the pitches. The site is presently being extended with some areas being levelled and re-seeded. Extensive planting of small trees and shrubs
Facilities are basic but fine. There is a single block which is basic and functional. There's plenty of hot water in both the showers, basins and the dish washing areas (which is located in the same block). But the water doesn't drain freely at all and as the showers share a wet floor the whole area is prone to flooding. A bucket and mop are provided to clean up after yourself.
As others have said it can get very windy here. I would strongly advise that if you are staying here in a tent that you make sure it is strong enough to withstand gale force winds
The wardens are friendly and knowledgeable. The gate is locked from 11pm to 7am.
Beadnell is only a short walk although facilities are limited, two pubs which serve food but Seahouses has plenty to offer if you are happy to go a bit further. The area around this campsite is fabulous with plenty of places to visit nearby with Holy island, Bamburgh Castle and wildlife trips (Farne Island boat trips from Seahouses), well worth visiting
