Myself, my wife and two children aged 5 & 11 hired one of the on-site static caravans for a week via the Caravan & Camping Club. The static was clean & very well equipped and worth every penny we paid which was just above £400. All in all, outstanding value.
As previously mentioned there are a couple of pubs in the village of Priddy which are average but we did find a 'little gem' which is just a short drive away called 'Castle of Comfort' close to East Harptree (turn left out of the campsite, follow the road to the end / T-junction turn right onto the B3135, after approximately 1 mile turn left onto the B3134 & it's a couple of hundred yards on the left). Very generous portions delicious food served by polite friendly staff at a good price. It also has a outdoor play area for children.
During our stay we visited Longleat, Brean Sands amusement park, Minehead using the beautifully preserved West Somerset Railway from Bishops Lydeard, Cheddar Gorge twice & the lovely small city of Wells - all within an hour's drive. There is also a Shell petrol station in Cheddar just 5 miles from the site which sold the cheapest fuel in the area (115.9p for unleaded 24th Jul 08).
The POSITIVE points:
1. Extremely friendly & helpful staff
2. Super clean site & facilities
3. Reasonably priced well stocked on-site shop
4. Great quiet location ideal for visiting various attractions in the Somerset area
5. Farm shop next to the site selling a variety of local fresh produce
6. The BEST site we've ever had the privilege to stay on
Negative:
1. We had to come home!

Fantastic site beautifull views, toilets and showers are always spotless, only two showers but never had to queue. Staff are all friendly and helpful You can do walks straight from the site (which our labrador loved) and I would recommend the book of walks from the site they have for sale in the shop for £2.99, well worth it. Also the bread and pasties are delicous, couldn't stay here too long, would put on too much weight eating them, but would certainly go back.

Stayed just one night in two smallish tents with 3 children 3-13. No complaints whatsoever. A beautiful spot and a very well-run site.
The shop is not expensive and carries a wide-selection of food and camping accessories.
The Queen Vic is a great local and no sign of Barbara Windsor!

Very nice campsite, good facilities, good shop, clean, good flat pitches. Great views, good location, but. Despite having childrens play facilities, this was probably the most child un-friendly campsite we have ever stayed on. Normal (boisterous) children running around were NOT tolerated. We won't be returning. In fact, we haven't renewed our membership of the Camping and Caravanning Club partly based on this experience.

We visited over Easter and had every type of weather imaginable. Fog as we arrived, snow on Easter Sunday, howling gales, Hail and brilliant sunshine!
The site is easy to find but some of the approaches are difficult, like coming up through Cheddar Gorge, Not recomended. Its at one of the highest points on the Mendip Hills and has lovely views from anywhere on the site which is slightly sloping with a mix of basic pitches, Electric Hookups and Hardstandings. There is a motorhome service point at the toilet block (Not state of the art like some club sites but clean, warm and plentiful with two mother and baby rooms, inside and outside dishwashing and a laundry) and a playground at the far end of the site. The reception has everything you need, including fresh baked bread and pastries and 'Priddy good beef' from the local farm shop. Priddy is about 3/4 mile downhill and has two pubs. We visited the Queen Victoria, They also serve 'Priddy good beef' and have three open wood fires. It was manic at Easter as there is a lot of 'Horsey' activity on the Sunday.
Turn left out of the site and left at the end of the road and it's straight into Cheddar Gorge, about 5 1/2 miles. Loads of tourist attractions; Caves, shops, cheese factory etc. The area between priddy and the tourist bit is the most spectacular.
Wells is the nearest City. It's tiny and quaint with a rural Market.
Weston super Mare and Burnham on Sea are a short drive away. If you're not towing and have satnav you can go the back way, over mendip and missing Cheddar and the motorway junction.
Equally close are Glastonbury and Street with the Clarks Outlet village for bargain shopping.

Just returned after 10 days there, busy with the C&CC Area Meet there for the Priddy Fireworks Display, but stayed for the Bridgewater Guy Fawkes Carnival.
A quiet and 'tranquil' site not best suited to children, ideal for those not wanting a football against your pride and joy (Tent or Caravan).
Toilets perfectly kept, on-site shop has (really good) local meat and bread etc.
The site is not well lit; main lights on toilet block, which makes it ideal for Star Gazing from the picnic tables in the bottom of Tenting field(ideal for a Cassegrain Telescope set on the table)

This is quite a local site for us, so an easy getaway for the weekend. The surrounding countryside is stunning and steeped in history. Cheddar, the lovely city of Wells, Glastonbury and the Somerset Levels are all within half an hour's drive.
There are two very good pubs about half a mile's level(ish) walk from the site. Both are really good and very friendly.
Village events include a sheep race (not to be confused with the annual sheep fair). The sheep race was great fun and highly recommended.
Nice site. Staff friendly. Good facilities. Going back next weekend for the fifth time this year!

We have just returned from 14 night s on this site !. What can I say? the toilet & shower block were always clean and I even saw one of the wardens mopping them out at 10pm on a Saturday night!. There is a parent and child room with 2 toilets and 2 showers which was excellent. The wardens were friendly and helpful and worked hard to keep the site clean and tidy, the bins emptied and the grass cut. The site shop sells most things including those lovely pastries baked every day and the farm shop down the road sells veggies, meat and dairy as well. We had some rain the middle weekend which was fine for us as we were on a hard standing pitch but not so much fun for those in tents on the grass, but I believe the pitches dried out quite fast. The pub in the village the Queen Victoria is an old fashioned pub which sells good home made food and local cider of course. There is another pub the New Inn but we did not visit this one though I did speak to someone from the site who had been and they said it was good. We had a lovely time at this site and hopefully we will be returning.

The campsite is located in the small village of Priddy - about 4 miles away from the Gorge itself. Its a very well presented campsite with all mod cons. Family shower rooms are a notable bonus. Showers and toilets are very clean. Shop is well stocked and quite reasonably priced. There is even Wi-Fi access if you need to stay "connected". A basic children's play area is available offering a couple of swings and a slide. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. The only downsides I can think of are the pitches are a little close to each other and the pitches tend to be on a slope. Would have been nice to have carved out some flat pitches into the slope.
But all in all a very relaxing time. The location is very convenient to get about and see the sights. Cheddar itself being the highlight for me.
Well worth a visit and enough to keep the kids happy.

This campsite is in an ideal position, shame about everything else. All the toilets and showers are shut between 11.00 - 12.30 everyday, seems a bit long to us. One poor couple, who were in a tent and had upset tummys, had real problems between these hours and the site managers would not budge. We felt it made more sense to stagger the times they close the loos. The shop was only open between 9 - 10 in the morning and 4 - 6 in the evening. This site is in the middle of nowhere it would help if they open a little longer. Finally, our main problem was this site is definite NOT child friendly. They do have a park, but there is nowhere for the kids to run around or play badminton or football. The park was supposed to be closed at 9.30pm but the site manager told the children they were being too noisy one evening and to go back the their caravans / tents. It was 8.45.
