Just come back from a great week in York, the caravan site is very well kept and the pitches seem nice and level and seem to have good drainage. It did rain quite a bit whilst we were there but I suppose thats April showers for you. The security is quite good with a typed in code on a access bar and the toilets and showers seem very clean. The site is nice and handy for York's park and ride scheme only five mins drive away and there are some nice local pubs/resturants to eat out at (Frank And Bennys do a lovely pizza). We will deffinately be going back and I hope soon, as we found one weeks stay wasn't enough to do everything in York.

Possibly the wettest week we've ever spent in the caravan - although we were on hardstanding, it was hard to get both the car and caravan on the hardstanding so we did get rather muddy. Site very nice, and well placed for the Clifton Moor Park and Ride into York. Very quiet and peaceful. Would visit again, in drier weather!

Just has a great weekend at this site, nice and peaceful, in lovely setting with lakes, greenery is beautiful kept, i must say the poshest / cleanest toilet/shower block i have seen in a long time, even a radio playing. I felt at home straight away, although a long walk from tent area, I have since been told there is a toilet block to be built in the near future. 5 mins drive to park & ride , bus into York, took just minutes, cost about £3.50 for 2 adults so well worth it, great day out. Roll on 2 weeks time, when we will certainly be back ( weather permitting ) as we still have lots we want to see and do. ps, great friendly owners too

We arrived and were the only tent on the site. As the tent area is by the lake, this ment that we had a totally secluded weekend for midnight BBQ's and late mornings..perfect! The facilities were spotless, although a bit of a walk from the tent pitch area (worth it for the serenity of it all though) We chose this site for its proximity to York and it couldnt have been any better..unless we camped at the minster. Bus was ten min from Cliffton moor shopping ctr and Taxi was £7. Good place to stay for a city break with a country feel.

When we arrived at this site I could not believe that it was really a bank holiday. I was expecting overcrowing and a lot of noise as we had experienced at other sites on BH's. However, Willow House could not have been more peaceful. The site has 30 electric pitches and room for about 5 or so tents with no electric. The grass is kept well trimmed and the whole site is very attractive.
The pitches are really well spaced out so you get a feeling of privacy. As the site is 'adults only' there is very little noise and the whole atmosphere while we were there was one of relaxation.
The owners were very helpful and even put our names on a waiting list for a pitch when they were initially full for the weekend. When a pitch became available they phoned us and we were very glad they did.
The site is about a 3 minute drive away from the York Park & Ride which makes it very convenient for visiting the attractions of York and there is a large shopping complex nearby with a huge Tesco's for provisions and a range of other shops, restaurants and leisure facilities such as ten pin bowling and a VUE cinema.
On the site the bathroom facilities were kept spotlessly clean. The ladies and gents had 2 toilets, 2 wash basins and 2 showers which was adequate for a site of only 30 pitches. The showers cost 50p for 10 minutes of piping hot water. There was also a disabled bathroom with toilet, shower and wash basin. A small laundry area also housed a washing machine, tumble dryer and dish washing sink.
My only small complaint about this site was the distance from the pitches at the far end of the site to the toilets. The site covers a very long, thin area which must be at least 300 metres long. This makes nipping to the toilet at 3 in the morning a bit of an expedition. During the day, most people at the far end of the site seemed to drive to the toilets but obviously, for noise reasons, this is not possible at night.
However, despite this, we thought this site was excellent and look forward to returning for more peace and quiet in the future.

March 2004 we have visited this site regularly for the past 4 years (when it was just a 5 van cl). I can't think of a better place to stay for a short break. The service from these and the previous owners is first class. York park and ride is less than 5 minutes away. Spotlessly clean toilets and showers although there is a separate cost it is worth paying as they are so clean and tidy. It is a quiet sitein general surrounded by lovely countryside and in a beautiful setting of the main house grounds. No on site shop but it really does not matter as everything is so close. Sometimes after heavy rain can get a bit squishy but apart from thatit is a first class place to stay but book well in advance as they are popular.

August 2004 Spent a long Bank Holiday weekend at the site along with friends in tents. The site itself is lovely and very well kept. On arrival we were told where the tent pitches were and told to pitch where we liked. The plot of land was large - the owner said it was for a maximum of 5 tents so if full would still give you lots of space. The toilet block was exceptionally clean and tidy. The showers cost 50p for 10 minutes in the ladies but only 6.5 minutes for the men. The hairdryers cost 20p for approx 1.5 minutes which i thought was poor. The only major downside to this site is the basic layout, where the caravans are at the front of the site nearest to the toilet yet the tents have about a 1/2 mile round trip from one side of the site to the other.... not what you want especially during the night!!
Apart from that it was a lovely site, ideal for visiting York - and the many things to do there!

August 2004 Absolutely 4 star site, recently opened with facilites second to none. Exceptionally clean, quiet, and well kept grassed areas. For adults only. A good reception guaranteed from John & Diane the owners. Tents and caravans accepted, we have just returned after 14 nights during the floods, this site was affected and we were flooded out, but John came that night and offered a room in his house until the weather improved, now that's what I call service.

July 2004 Excellent site - very quiet and relaxing. The toilet/shower block is exceptionally clean. There is no shop on site but there is a shopping centre a few minutes away by car. The bus to York will pick up/drop off at the gate. I have no hesitation in recommending this site and will use it again if I am in the area.
