 2 adults 2 children

Spent 1 week on this site with super pitch and was great,no emptying dishwater, filling water barrels etc,

toilet and shower block were modern but due to the time of year there were cues, the facilities on site were fantastic,3 fishing lakes, golf course, playground, outdoor pool, and a the fun park which is great for all ages,
there is so much to do around the cornwall area that I would advise 2 weeks, bluereef aquaruim, newquay zoo, lands end, st ives, all within a 40 mile radius and worth the visit, advise you to depart early hours of the morning to avoid the traffic it was a nightmare.
Overall a great base for a summer holiday in the uk

 Excellent site.

We went in June so wasn't really busy, although its a huge site and there is plenty of room.

The facilities are nice and clean and plentiful.

We had a super pitch which boasted water drainage and tv connection, unfortunately though we couldn't make sense out of the film channel. Never on when said it would be.

The clubhouse is good with entertainment for children and there is an arcade and cafe/restaurant too. I really enjoyed the walk down to the beach and stopping at the local pub for a pint of dumbar or four.

All in all an excellent site and I will be returning once we have seen some more of the country.

Spent August Bank Holiday weekend here and after seeing all the reviews I had expected it to be fantastic but actually was rather disappointed.

We had to book two pitches because we use three small 2/3 man tents and when I asked if we could have all three on a pitch was told no -it would make the pitch look cluttered! Fair enough I thought -but on arrival found it quite funny as many pitches were real encampments with caravan, awning, windbreak, TV aerial, BBQ, kitchen equipment, table, bikes, surfboards etc etc - and our 3 little tents would have looked quite neat in comparison. We couldn't get two together so it was a nuisance and both were mostly earth patches ie no grass left - it was hard to pitch our - small - tents and have room to sit directly outside on the grass.

We were next to an enormous tent with 4 pods and windbreak etc etc - took up the whole pitch - how could ours have looked cluttered?!

Also - small but vital point - why don't they just stick more hooks in the showers - or shelves? Everyone moans about this and in the ladies everyone has to fling their clothes/towels over the door frame - would take a handyman a few hours to add extra hooks to the cubicles.

Finally - the noise from the quadbikes/go carts on the Fun Park droned on all day - I know that should be obvious booking a site next to a Fun Park but I didn't think of it - my fault really.

I would go back - but only with a bigger tent and in early season when there was still some grass!

 Party: 2 adults & 2 girls aged 7

I was going to compare this all singing all dancing site with the tiny farm site we stayed on, on the way down but that would be like comparing chalk & cheese.

Instead I think for most readers it would be better to compare Trevornick with a very similar site, Hendra, which we used last year.

The weather for both trips was dreadful but unlike Hendra, Trevornick did not turn into a quagmire. (I do understand Hendra has spent a small fortune on drainage over the summer.)

Trevornick does have a very clever website that allows you to book by pitch & even gives pitch dimensions, excellent. We paid extra for a super pitch & at 38' x 38' was actually bigger than my garden. To be honest we only used the hook up to run a cool box & we had no use of the video channel. Probably could have saved some money as equally big plots were available without the extra facilities.

Shower & toilet blocks were large & kept very clean but unlike Hendra the showers worked properly with loads of hot water.

The shop at Trevornick needs a re-think. Stock choice was limited with a very poor frozen section where as Hendras mini super market was a genuine bonus with sensible pricing.

Trevornick wins hands down as far as the pool. It was warm & well sheltered, covered at night & the heaters left on 24/7. Whilst Hendra had the super indoor 'Oasis' facility which got very crowded with visitors from outside , there outside pool was so cold as to be unusable (& I'm no wimp)

The only downside to Trevornicks pool was that on the odd good weather day we did have they insisted in closing the pool at 5:00pm ( madness)

We did try to walk down to the beech at Trevornick& got as far as the dunes before driving rain forced us back. So having the beech (it is a bit of a yomp) & the fun park next door means Trevornick is probably better positioned for families.

So you take your choice.

For me I'd have to say Trevornick is the better for families, but for next year after 2 holidays on the trot ruined by the weather, it's the South of France for us !

We have just had a fantastic week at this site. The only thing that spoilt it was the weather, but we managed to work around that.

The toilet/shower/wash facilities were spotless clean.

The food at the hungry horse takeaway and the stables bar was good. Thae stables also had free wifi which was quicker than our home connection.

Mobile phone reception was patchy (vodafone) but I was quite glad of this!

Entertainment was good both for the children and adults in the farm bar.

The pitches were ample but larger tents may benefit from a larger pitch.

The wife loved a massage at the health club. I never had a chance to try the golf but it looked well kept.

All in all a great site and we will definitely be going again.

 Brilliant site.

Stayed in a Eurotent - having never stayed in one before was a little apprehensive but shouldn't have been - everything was as it should be.

Holywell beach is a short walk across the golf course and sand dunes and after the walk you are rewarded with an outstanding beach.

Didn't visit the entertainment really as our DS was always too tired - so can't really comment.

The on site food facilities were superb.

Would recommend to anyone - even if it is a bit of a trek from Hull - but well worth it!

This was our second visit to this site having visited in 2007.
Several things have been up dated since then, all the toilet blocks look to have been updated and you no longer have to pay for the showers-they now work on a sensor and at no time did we have a shortage of hot water. Each block has a family shower room at the end and although we are beyond needing this it did seem a good set up apart from you must put down a £10 deposit for the key and only get £5 back -which to me seems unfair.

The cafe/restaurant has also been updated and carried a reasonable menu at a good price.

The pitches on this site are huge but the downside of this is that the vast majority are on a slope,I had to keep packing one end of our fridge up until it would work, and we continuely felt like we were sliding out of bed!

One thing that is lacking though is some form of entertainment for younger teenagers, apart from the amusements all that there is to do is hang around.

Newquay is a short bus ride away and even the supermarket is a 10 min journey in a car. Holywell beach is a short 20 min stroll downhill and once there the beach is clean and covered by Lifeguards, the only downside is the lack of toilet facilities, which the nearest being a 10 min walk back off of the beach.

Just spent five wonderful weeks at this site, weather was glorious for the whole time.

Two minutes drive to a glorious beach, or ten minute walk through the sand dunes.

Very good fun park for kiddies, and go carts for the big kiddies, superb golf course and best of all, three large lakes full of big carp up to 27lbs .

Facilities on site are good and very clean, the only fault that I found was the eurotent shower block had only tepid water in the showers and washbasins.

We got back from a 6 night stay at Trevornick on Friday (26th June). It was a really nice site- quieter than I imagined because it is obviously not high season yet until the main summer holidays but that was probably a good thing.

Site- neat, tidy, nice looking. Welcomed nicely with out tent tags/car stickers and an info bag full of leaflets and things to do in Cornwall. We were taken to our pitch (401-Cornfield) and set up. Later on we got talking to the older guy who seems to serve in the takeaway and the shop, lovely man, told us to walk down to the beach (Holywell Bay) the road way (dunes too much for us to tackle with a 3 wheeler double buggy!). W did and it was so nice- warm weather, blue skies, walked down past the 2 pubs en route and onto the beach, then back up after a while. Beautiful, stunning beach. St. Pirans (pub at Holywell Bay) is lovely, too.

We were a bit shocked to find the shop, takeaway etc closed before 10.30 as I didn't realise they only open later in high season but this wasn't a problem. The Sports bar was closed too but again no problem.

Can't comment on the entertainment/club etc. As to be honest, because of the nice weather and going out in the day we stayed outside at night.

Shop is good- well stocked, bit pricey for some things just like any other campsite shop but not too much. Lovely staff.

We sat out back on the benches at the children's play area (back of the Stables Restaurant) a few times, and I could chill out on my laptop (free WiFi in the Stables area). Nice little play area.

Toilet/Shower blocks great- showers now operated by radar touch (waving hand in front of when it stopped) rather than 20p's which is good. Ladies always seemed a nice temp although my other half commented that the mens seemed a bit cool. Clean showers and toilets, and wash up areas.

Pitches seemed large and mainly flat, a couple across from us asked to move from where they were (don't know where) into our field (Cornfield) as our field was flatter, and I don't think they had a prob as the site wasn't overly busy. Also a couple in a mobile home came next to us but for whatever reason (hope it wasn't us!) moved across the field the day after.

Food- only eat a couple of times at the Hungry Horse Takeaway and it was ok. Love the cookies they sell in the jars in the Stables and at the takeaway. .Yum!

The scenery walking into Holywell Bay is lovely, and we could just about see the horizon through the bushes on our field.

Cubert is the nearby village- has a couple of shops, fish n chip shop and a Post Office counter inside one of the shops. Be careful though as when we first arrived after the 8 hr journey, before we got to the campsite, we pulled up outside the shop, near the crossing, with my other half and kids still in the car (not on the crossing, but half on the zogzags leading to it), someone told him to move it and threatened to take a photo and send it to the police, which I thought was a bit harsh! And the second time he was thee for seconds while I jumped out and a woman was sat there pulling her phone out ready to take a pic before he had chance to turn round and pull into the car park opposite! So be warned!

We visited the Bowgie Inn which is a LOVELY pink pub overlooking Crantock Bay just down the road from the site, nice food, generous portions, LOVELY scenery. Then went down onto Cranktock Bay (we warned- fair walked over dunes from car park to beach!). It is a gorgeous beach though.

Also visited the Smugglers Inn a coupld of time not far from the site (follow the signs), nice quaint little pub with nice beer garden and kiddies play area. Food wasn't fab but other than that really nice.

Visited Perranporth once- again lovely beach (we didn't go on it just saw it from car park at top overlooking it). Lots of shops, lovely Smoothie bar serving nice smoothies and sandwhiches. Didn't stay ages but a nice place.

Visited Lands End which is a fair drive, nice place, few new things since last time I went. On way back visited Sennen Cove near to it which again was a gorgeous beach, big waves though!

Went to the Cornish Gold Centre and then tried to drive over to St Austell to the Cornish Market advertised on flyers in reception. BE WARNED! I didn't read it properly and it is only on Saturdays and Sundays (and Bank Hols I think). Also Wednesdays from Mid July. Oops! We went on a Thursday so a wasted journey but my fault really although the text telling you could have been bigger (not Trevornicks fault obviously!).

Oh- we went to the pool once, I didn't go in but chilled round the edge on a sunbed. Nice pool though, clean, covered over at closing time which was 5pm, not sure if later main season. The other half says it was warm, there's a baby pool too and Jacuzzi I think.

Well I think that is it?! We met a few lovely people here and it is a lovely site to relax outside your tent/van if the weather is nice. Although it was quieter it was enjoyable, I will deffo go again one day!

We have just returned from a weekends camping at Trevornick and I thought I would add a review of our experience.

I went camping with my wife and six year old daughter, as well as two friends who took their own tent and dog. Firstly the site has a dedicated dog field for all campers who have dogs which I thought was a good idea, however it meant we were not next to our friends. This didn't cause any problems though as dogs are not banned from visiting the other fields provided they are kept under control.

Good Points.

The site has loads of great facilities for all the family, with a leisure park, fishing ponds, par 3 golf course and a superb pitch and put (the longest hole being 180 yards!) everything was very reasonably priced. Even in the well stocked shop things were not too expensive.

The location of the site is its main advantage. It is a ten minute walk, or two to three minute drive to the lovely beach at Holywell Bay. I would estimate the beach is over a mile long and is golden sand all the way. We visited on the last bank holiday weekend of May, when the weather was roasting hot and although the campsite was all but full, once you got on to the main beach it was almost deserted. Most people sat at the first part of the beach near the dunes, leaving the rest of the beach empty.

There is a national trust carpark next to the beach which was only £3.50 for the whole day (free to members of NT) which I thought was very good value.

The views from campsite are gorgeous. The best being from the 3rd tee of the pitch and put. The best place to view the sun setting into the sea.

There are just a couple of bad points I want to mention.

Firstly our friends were placed on a pitch next to the toilet block and bottle banks. It was a good sized pitch with a low hedge on two sides, but they were woken regularly in the night with people returning in taxis from the night clubs in newquay and using the loos before going back to their tent. On more than one occasion the sound of someone being sick in the loos woke them. Yuk! they were also woken early (6 am) by people throwing bottles in to the bottle bank.

We were in the next field to our friends and although not next to the nearest toilet block to us (we were in the middle of the field) we had a lot of campers crossing our pitch. Even stepping over the guy ropes. To get to the toilets. This meant we felt like goldfish at times with people staring into our tent as they walked past.

The only other thing to mention was that there was no seat or bench in the shower cubicle. The cubicles were a good size with really hot water, but with just a small hook on the back of the door it made the whole shower experience something like a mission on the Krypton Factor, trying not to let your clothes drop on the floor and getting dressed without putting a sock covered foot on the wet floor.

Most of my grumbles relate to the lack of consideration of other campers and this would not stop me booking again. I will however be very careful to book a pitch on the edge of one of the fields away from the toilet blocks.
